You Choose an Adopted Son, I Choose Madness

Chapter 12

Chapter 12: Your Kindness Is Hard to Refuse:

Su Zhenxing frowned and shouted, “Su Chen, why are you adding more fuel to the fire?!”

“Look at all the smoke! It’s getting worse!”

“Are you trying to suffocate us?!”

“Hurry up and put out the fire!”

Liu Yanran also furrowed her brows and scolded Su Chen.

“Su Chen, I know you’re not usually a selfish child.”

“Look at what you’ve done. The smoke is choking all of us.”

“You wouldn’t just think about yourself, right? Put out the fire quickly!”

Su Chen picked up a burning rose branch, looking at Su Zhenxing and Liu Yanran in confusion.

“Put out the fire?”

“You’ve seen how damp this room is! If I don’t dry it out with fire, how can I even live here?”

“You wouldn’t be so selfish as to only care about yourselves, right?”

“It’s just some smoke! You’ll get used to it after a while!”

“You’re only dealing with a bit of smoke, but I have to sleep in this damp room!”

“You wouldn’t be so heartless as to let me suffer just so you don’t have to deal with a little smoke, would you?”

Liu Yanran was speechless.

Why was Su Chen talking like this?

It was truly infuriating!

No wonder she never liked him!

Su Zhenxing glanced at Liu Yanran, feeling a bit of blame toward her.

If she had taken better care of Su Chen’s living arrangements, he wouldn’t be in such a small, damp room. He wouldn’t be so desperate that he had to light a fire to dry it out!

Realizing this couldn’t go on, Su Zhenxing made up his mind.

He had to fix Su Chen’s living conditions today.

Otherwise, seeing how stubborn Su Chen was, this fire wasn’t going to be put out, and the smoke in the villa wouldn’t clear. He might actually choke to death before Su Chen stopped.

“Su Chen, put out the fire.”

“We’ll give you a bigger, brighter, and cleaner room so you won’t have to burn a fire anymore!”

Liu Yanran opened her mouth, wanting to say something, but after glancing at Su Zhenxing, she swallowed her words.

In the past, Su Chen never demanded to change rooms, but he had once asked Liu Yanran to remove the moisture from his bedroom.

At the time, Liu Yanran had simply dismissed him with, “Su Chen, why do you have so many complaints?! Everyone is busy, and you’re just making trouble for everyone!”

After that, Su Chen never brought up the issue again.

So when Su Zhenxing suddenly offered to change his room, Su Chen exaggeratedly widened his eyes in mock surprise, looking at Liu Yanran.

“Better not.”

“Didn’t you say you’re all very busy? Wouldn’t this just be making trouble for you?”

“I’m an adult now. I should take care of my own problems!”

Su Chen waved his hand dismissively.

“I’ll just continue burning the fire to dry the room myself.”

“I don’t want to inconvenience you all!”

Saying that, he picked up a few more rose branches and tossed them into the fire.

This time, not only did Su Zhenxing’s eye twitch, but even his facial muscles spasmed.

“It’s not trouble! How could this be trouble?!”

“It’s no trouble at all!”

“Who said this is causing problems for us?!”

“This is absolutely not an inconvenience!”

His sharp gaze swept over Liu Yanran and Su Lili, daring them to refute him.

Liu Yanran’s expression stiffened.

She suddenly recalled that she had once said those exact words to Su Chen.

But now, under these circumstances, she naturally wouldn’t say it again.

Forcing a smile, she said, “Of course, it’s no trouble at all! Such a simple thing isn’t an issue!”

Su Lili had fallen silent the moment she saw how small, damp, and windowless Su Chen’s room was.

Although she didn’t like this long-lost brother of hers—mainly because he had grown up in an orphanage and didn’t have the bearing of someone from a wealthy family—she didn’t think he deserved to live in such a miserable room.

As a family of billionaires, they had plenty of normal rooms to spare.

So when Su Zhenxing spoke, Su Lili simply nodded in agreement.

Seeing their reactions, Su Zhenxing nodded in satisfaction, pleased with their sense of propriety.

Turning back to Su Chen, he said, “Su Chen, look, everyone agrees to give you a better room.”

“So put out the fire now, okay?”

He glanced at the fire.

It was burning fiercely, with bright flames and thick smoke billowing into the air.

Su Zhenxing couldn’t help but cough twice.

Su Chen glanced between Liu Yanran and Su Lili, then innocently asked, “Are you sure changing my room won’t cause you trouble?”

“If it’s too much trouble, I won’t force it.”

Liu Yanran’s face stiffened.

Something about Su Chen’s tone felt off—like he was targeting her specifically.

Still, she forced another smile.

“It’s not trouble, not at all!”

Su Lili coldly shook her head and simply said, “Not at all.”

Su Chen beamed, then looked at them apologetically.

“Since it’s no trouble, then I won’t reject your kindness. Otherwise, I’d be hurting your feelings.”

Hearing this, and seeing Su Chen’s deliberately exaggerated expression, Su Zhenxing felt a sharp pain in his teeth, Liu Yanran burned with frustration, and Su Lili found herself increasingly puzzled.

Today, Su Chen was acting completely different from before.

Su Zhenxing sighed in relief, then pointed at the fire.

“Su Chen, since everyone agreed to change your room, can you put out the fire now?”

“Look at how much smoke it’s producing!”

“It’s filling the entire villa!”

“Everyone is choking on it!”

“Su Chen, hurry and put it out!”

As he spoke, he couldn’t help but start coughing again.

At this rate, even hearing the word “smoke” might trigger his coughing in the future.

Liu Yanran also looked at Su Chen expectantly, hoping he would put out the fire.

The smoke was simply unbearable.

Su Lili remained silent but also felt that now would be the time for Su Chen to stop.

However, Su Chen widened his eyes in confusion and asked, “Put out the fire?”

“Why should I do that?”

The three of them froze.

Su Zhenxing frowned in anger.

“Su Chen, don’t be ungrateful!”

“We already agreed to give you a better room, so why are you still burning the fire?!”

“Are you messing with us?!”

Su Chen remained unfazed by his anger.

Tilting his head, he asked in confusion, “You agreed to give me a new room.”

“But what does that have to do with me putting out the fire?”

“After all, I’m still sleeping in this room tonight.”

“And since I’m sleeping here, I obviously need to keep the fire going to dry it out.”
