Chapter 227 - 227 Don't Act Like a Boss
Chapter 227: Chapter 227 Don’t Act Like a Boss
Mo Xinyu withdrew her gaze and sneered at Mo Jun, “Before I give you the item, I have some questions and conditions.”
Mo Jun knew she wouldn’t give it to her easily.
“Speak then, what will it take for you to hand it over? Of course, you better not be too unreasonable, because I don’t absolutely need it.”
Mo Xinyu laughed, “But this item is rather valuable.”
“So what exactly is it?”
“What exactly is your relationship with Crown Prince Bai Lang?” Mo Xinyu countered with a question, “That’s my first question.”
“Friends.” Mo Jun replied indifferently.
Mo Xinyu raised an eyebrow, “Just friends? It seems he is quite close to you.”
“Correct, good friends.”
Mo Xinyu let out a mocking laugh, “I can’t tell, you’re quite capable. You’ve made quite a few friends so quickly, and they aren’t just anybody. I just wonder, what methods did you use?”
Mo Xinyu always assumed that Mo Jun got so much help from others through improper means.
In her eyes, Mo Jun was inferior to her in every way, and it was impossible for her to suddenly turn her fortunes around.
So there must have been some unsavory secrets hidden in the shadows.
Yet, last time Bai Lang had clearly stated that he was impressed by Mo Jun’s abilities, but Mo Xinyu still maliciously speculated about her.
Mo Jun didn’t bother to explain, just sneered, “Indeed, the filthier a person’s thoughts are, the more corrupt they believe others to be.”
“You…” Mo Xinyu was choked with anger, but she soon sneered too, “May I interpret that as you being furious out of embarrassment?”
“I wonder who’s the one furious out of embarrassment. If you keep on spouting nonsense, I won’t be accompanying you any further!” Mo Jun threatened unkindly.
Mo Xinyu suddenly felt suffocated with frustration, but she had no choice but to bear it.
Because today, she was the one who had sought out Mo Jun.
“Fine, let’s continue. Second question, who exactly is backing you? That man I saw, who is he?” Mo Xinyu deliberately tested her.
“Which man?” Mo Jun’s expression remained unflustered, “Are you talking about Uncle Lin from over there or Big Brother Yun?”
“Don’t play dumb with me, you know who I’m talking about.”
“I really don’t know who you’re talking about.”
Mo Xinyu threatened sharply, “If you don’t cooperate, do you not want the item anymore?”
“I think the one who’s at a disadvantage right now is you,” Mo Jun said coldly as she stared at her. A simple statement completely exposed Mo Xinyu’s predicament.
Yes, the one at a disadvantage was her.
But she had an ace up her sleeve.
“Your mother left you something extremely valuable, priceless in fact. Don’t you want it? If you don’t, then I won’t hesitate to gladly accept it.” Thinking by saying this, Mo Jun would become anxious.
To her surprise, Mo Jun laughed instead, “Do you even have the right to gladly accept it?”
“…” Mo Xinyu immediately turned pale.
“If it could be claimed by you, I imagine you would have done so already. Mo Xinyu, don’t take me for a fool; the item can only be given to me, otherwise, it’s useless, and keeping it does you no good. So don’t act so high and mighty!”
“…” Mo Xinyu’s hands clenched tightly under the table, her eyes filled with barely concealed shame and rage.
Damn it, Mo Jun was getting more and more arrogant!
In the past, she had no right to be so insolent in front of her, but now…
Mo Xinyu suppressed the resentment in her heart and nodded with a cold laugh, “Indeed, it’s useless to me. But if I don’t give it to you, you won’t get it either. So, let’s make a deal, shall we?”
