You Are Deep in The Stars

Chapter 40 - This Is Not a Country Romance Movie at All I

The sky at six o’clock in the morning was a deep blue as thick as velvet.

Han Zhuo returned to the bedroom from the balcony, took a quick shower, and then went to the 24-hour convenience store downstairs to buy ingredients and start preparing breakfast.

In fact, Bai Xi had already woken up when Han Zhuo just went out, but he didn’t get up. He just laid lazily on the bed and listened carefully to all the sounds coming from outside – Mr. Han carried the plastic bag home, spatulas clashed with pans, the coffee machine hummed, cupboards were opened, and the faucet rinsed vegetables.

Just as the aroma of the food began to fill the air, Daisy happened to call.

“Good morning,” she asked cheerfully, “is my little sweetheart awake?”

“Your little sweetheart is still laying in bed.” Han Zhuo wiped his hands, “I was about to wake him up for breakfast.”

“You can let him sleep for an extra hour,” Daisy reminded, “because he was on the phone until four in the morning last night.”

Han Zhuo frowned slightly: “How did you know?”

“Because I was the one chatting with him.” Daisy adjusted her hair in front of the mirror and felt very satisfied. “We shared many cute little secrets, including all the scandals about you from the first grade to the sixth grade. Oh, and girlfriends, well, three a year on average.”

Mr. Han felt like he had heard a ghost story.

However, the horror was far from over, because Daisy then said: “Xiao Bai seems to be very interested in this topic, and he also asked me to share your class photos from every year.”

“Why do you want to talk to him about this?” Han Zhuo squeezed out the words through his teeth.

Daisy replied solemnly and affectionately: “Because every loving mother is keen to share her excellent son with others.”

Mr. Han didn’t want to pay attention to this sentence at all. He casually opened two shirt collar buttons, took a deep breath to stabilize his mood, and then gritted his teeth and said: “You are prohibited from contacting Xiao Bai privately in the future.”

“What a killjoy.” Daisy poured herself half a glass of red wine and tapped the glass with her bright red nails. “At this moment, your mommy feels very sad.”

“At this moment, your son feels very angry.” Han Zhuo turned off the fire, “I thought you called so early because of Zhao Xiaojuan’s matter.”

“Oh, she’s fine.” Daisy said. “The operation was just completed this afternoon. Everything went well. The patient’s mood is also quite stable. Apart from still being a little worried about the safety of the Zhao family, there is nothing else that can prevent her from embracing a new life.”

“Then when do you plan to come back?” Han Zhuo asked again.

“Me?” Daisy thought for a moment, “If you lack a love guide, then-”

“I’m not lacking.” Han Zhuo interrupted her, “OK, you can stay with auntie until next year.”

“Next year?” Before Daisy could speak, another sharp female voice suddenly came from the receiver, full of shock, anger, disappointment, and accusation, “But you just said clearly that my nephew’s wedding will be held on Christmas this year!”

“Next year, next Christmas.” Daisy first comforted her softly, then turned to her son and said sadly, “Did you hear that? Your aunt is really angry, so do you mind getting married on Christmas?”

There was a busy toot, toot on the phone.

Daisy sighed regretfully.

.

Han Zhuo smoked half a pack of cigarettes on the balcony, but he couldn’t dispel the psychological shadow caused by the phone call just now, about his rumored girlfriend in elementary school – if borrowing an eraser could be considered puppy love. He originally wanted to explain to Bai Xi, but he felt this explanation was superfluous. After all, it was not a big deal, and there was no need to mention it deliberately. But if he didn’t say anything, it seemed a little… weird and worried?

A month ago, Mr. Han would never have believed that he would be troubled by such a childish thing. However, the facts were ruthlessly placed before him, and he was indeed quite uneasy at this time.

“Good morning.” Perhaps because it was too quiet outside, Bai Xi decided to get up on his own initiative.

Han Zhuo put out half of the cigarette in his hand.

Bai Xi looked at the cigarette butt filled half of the ashtray and said with some surprise: “What’s wrong with you?”

“It’s okay.” Han Zhuo walked into the kitchen and washed his hands, “Get ready for breakfast.”

“It’s okay, but why did you smoke so many cigarettes?” Bai Xi obviously didn’t believe it, but now he was really worried. Standing behind him, he asked again, “Did something happen to the underground warehouse? Or was it Wu Zigang? You said yesterday that you were going to meet him today. Have you made an appointment with him?”

“I made an appointment with Wu Zigang at three o’clock in the afternoon. The location is the garbage disposal station. I can take you there with me.” Han Zhuo poured out the soup. “Nothing happened in the underground warehouse. Although Shi Tian lost Huang Jingyuan and Zhao Xiaojuan, he unexpectedly gained something else. I think this is not a loss-making business for him, and he will not take any crazy revenge because of it.”

“Then what are you worried about?” Bai Xi became more and more puzzled.

“I’m not worried at all.” Han Zhuo handed him the plate, “I just want to smoke.”

Bai Xi: “…”
