Chapter 195 Breakfast

The morning sunlight cascaded into the house, and Shen Mochen slowly opened his eyes.

His gaze settled on unfamiliar surroundings, and it took him a while to regain his senses. He was now a member of Buque.

Yawning, Shen Mochen tidied up his appearance before heading out to wash up.

At this time, there was no one else in the living room, so Shen Mochen, unsure of what to do, simply sat on the sofa to watch TV.

Before long, a figure appeared at the door. Shen Mochen turned his head to see Xiao Xingshuang returning from outside, accompanied by the splendid morning sun at the entrance. She walked up to Shen Mochen and glanced at him.

"Xiao Xingshuang, you're up early. Did you go to exercise?" Shen Mochen stood up and politely smiled.

"Jogging." Xiao Xingshuang said.

She was wearing a sporty shirt easy to change out of, seemingly having just finished running, her body beginning to sweat. Her hair was moist with sweat, glimmering in the sunlight.

Shen Mochen smiled and cautioned, "When you're jogging outside alone, be sure to pay attention to safety!"

But as soon as the words left his mouth, Shen Mochen realized that his warning might be somewhat redundant. Considering Xiao Xingshuang's fighting abilities, in the odd chance something did happen, it was probably the monsters that ought to worry.

"I brought it with me." Xiao Xingshuang, not showing any displeasure at feeling patronized, pointed to the walkie-talkie strapped to her arm and said indifferently.

"Oh, okay." Shen Mochen nodded.

"It's best if you also carry one when you go out, so we can easily know your location." Xiao Xingshuang remarked.

Why would I go out alone? Shen Mochen retorted internally, but he still nodded with a smile on his face, indicating he took the advice.

"Excuse me." Xiao Xingshuang looked at the TV.

"Oh, sure..." Shen Mochen moved aside to let her pass.

Xiao Xingshuang walked past Shen Mochen with indifference, a sweet scent of osmanthus trailing with her ponytail.

She quickly returned to her room and, after a short while, took clean clothes into the bathroom for a shower.

Such self-discipline, no wonder she has such a great figure... not that it has anything to do with me.

Shen Mochen always thought Xiao Xingshuang and Catherine had similar appearances. This wasn't to say that the two resembled each other facially, but rather they were both perfect and flawless in physique and face.

However, although Catherine had a lazy demeanor and would smile, Xiao Xingshuang always seemed cold and indifferent, as if everyone owed her five million.

The sound of running water came from the bathroom, and Shen Mochen no longer felt like watching TV. He decided to go back to his room.

"Hey, you're awake? Breakfast is ready, come have breakfast." Xia Qingrou walked in from outside at that moment, holding a small pot in her hands.

"Oh, sure." Shen Mochen helped take the small pot and placed it on the dining table.

Xia Qingrou first went to Liu Chaoyan's room: "Yanyan, breakfast is ready!"

Liu Chaoyan promptly came out, dressed neatly, she must have been up early. Xia Qingrou then ran to the other side, and Han Muxue also came out in a wheelchair.

"Sister Xia, thank you for your hard work." Liu Chaoyan said with a smile.

Xia Qingrou waved her hand dismissively: "It's nothing much, cooking is quite fun!"

"What's for breakfast this morning?" Han Muxue asked.

"I made ham and egg porridge, and there are frozen buns we bought at the supermarket; I've steamed them!"

"You didn't forget to add salt to the porridge like last time, did you?" Han Muxue asked with a curled lip.

"Of course not, that was just inexperience!" Xia Qingrou puffed up her chest, smiling cheerily as she called out to Shen Mochen, "Hubby, come smell this, doesn't it smell wonderful?"

"It's okay." Shen Mochen thought to himself, I can't really tell how it smells, I had heard that none of these people could cook, but porridge couldn't possibly be cooked so badly it's inedible.

Xiao Xingshuang quickly emerged from the bathroom, and with the lesson from last night in mind, Shen Mochen turned around at the sound of the bathroom door opening, facing away from it.

But this time, Xiao Xingshuang was properly dressed, not in the combat suit issued by Buque but in a simple girl's outfit of a white T-shirt and jeans.

"Shuangshuang, aren't you taking the day off today?" Xia Qingrou asked with a smile.

"I am leaving now," replied Xiao Xingshuang as she flicked her somewhat damp hair.

"How about having breakfast before you go?" Xia Qingrou greeted enthusiastically.

Without turning back, Xiao Xingshuang left, "No, thanks. Your cooking is terrible."

"Hey, hey, people are capable of growth! Can't you just trust me for once?" Xia Qingrou complained with puffed-up indignation, but Xiao Xingshuang departed without a second thought.

Soon after, the roar of a motorcycle could be heard, as Xiao Xingshuang rode further and further away.

Sighing, Xia Qingrou said, "Ah... with Shuangshuang gone, I suddenly feel a sense of insecurity."

Han Muxue bowed her head to scoop some porridge, remarking coolly, "We got along just fine before Xiao Xingshuang arrived... yuck, it's so salty!"

She barely tasted the porridge before spitting it out, her face twisting in agony.

Seeing this, both Shen Mochen and Liu Chaoyan, who were about to start eating, paused.

"Salty? Impossible ..."

Xia Qingrou, disbelieving, took a sip from her bowl, her face suddenly changing color.

She managed not to spit it out, swallowing the porridge with difficulty, her face flushed as she scratched the back of her head, "It does seem a bit salty, haha..."

"What were you thinking, dumping the whole bag of salt in there?" Han Muxue asked through gritted teeth, "I thought you only had water in your brain, but today I see it's seawater. Did you want us to taste the sea?"

"Sorry, sorry..."

"It's okay, Sister Xia just lacks experience. A few more tries and it'll be fine. If the porridge is too salty, just add some hot water."

Liu Chaoyan got up to fetch a teapot while everyone poured their porridge back into the pot, adding a lot of hot water.

Feeling it was about right, Liu Chaoyan scooped a bit into a bowl, took a small sip, and said with a laugh, "Now it's not too salty."

The others, reassured, started to serve themselves porridge.

Xia Qingrou's face showed remorse, she knew she was in the wrong and didn't argue further, then called out again, "Eat the buns, eat the buns... These are frozen buns from the supermarket, they can't be salty!"

Shen Mochen, silent, pressed down on a bun with his chopsticks before retracting his hand. Yep, the bun was indeed undercooked.

Sighing to himself, Shen Mochen picked up the pieces of diced ham in the porridge, finding them still a bit salty. Although the porridge was diluted, the ham's salt content hadn't yet spread evenly through it.

As he sipped the porridge, he glanced at Han Muxue who was once again bravely attempting to eat a bun. It wasn't long before her complaints could be heard again.

Breakfast was abruptly ended with just a sip of rice soup, and Liu Chaoyan helped Xia Qingrou clean up the bowls and chopsticks. Shen Mochen meant to help, but noticing Liu Chaoyan seemed to be whispering consoling words to Xia Qingrou, he didn't approach.

"Hey, want one?"

Sitting on the edge of the sofa, Han Muxue offered a biscuit to Shen Mochen.

"Sure, thank you." Shen Mochen took it without any false modesty.

"By the way, I have a piece of advice for you," Han Muxue said, looking at the television and speaking coldly.

"Go ahead," Shen Mochen responded, sitting up straight.
