Chapter 106: Qin Ruyan’s Shock
Qin Ruyan walked out of the inn, thoroughly satisfied.
Though she could tell that the old storyteller had exaggerated many things to please her, she still enjoyed hearing it. No matter how strong Li Ran was, Lin Langyue wasn’t a pushover; there was no way she could have been beaten that badly. But even so, Qin Ruyan found the story immensely satisfying.
“Lin Langyue’s Dao heart has been damaged, and Yi Qinglan, fearing the Hidden Gauze Sect, has withdrawn her kill order against Li Ran. Tsk, tsk, the Tianshu Academy’s reputation is truly in tatters now.”
A smile crept up on Qin Ruyan’s lips. “I really want to see for myself what kind of person this First Demon King, who crushed the owner of the innate Dao body, really is.”
She was intensely curious about Li Ran. She had heard of this prodigy who had the daro mark long ago but didn’t know much about him. The outside world’s impression of him was limited: he was low-key, cold, and ruthless.
However, ever since he descended from the mountain not long ago, every action he took had caused ripples throughout the vast land, his meteoric rise leaving other geniuses in the dust. Some said he was cruel and heartless, killing without hesitation. Others claimed he was fair, only killing when necessary.
Opinions about him were varied and conflicted, and no one truly understood what kind of person Li Ran was.
The one thing that everyone agreed on, though, was his undeniable strength.
“This time when I visit the Hidden Gauze Sect, I should be able to meet him, right? Hah, I’m really looking forward to it.” Qin Ruyan bit her lip, her eyes gleaming with anticipation.

Just then, a commotion erupted not far away.
Several disciples were chasing a young girl, running straight in Qin Ruyan’s direction.
“Saintess, stop her!” the lead black-clad disciple shouted.
Qin Ruyan’s brow furrowed. “What are you doing? Didn’t I tell you to keep a low profile here?”
The group of disciples reached her, and by that time, Ah Qin’s spiritual energy was completely drained.
Her legs trembled, and she was gasping for air, clutching her knees to catch her breath. When she saw Qin Ruyan, she hesitated for a moment and asked, “Aren’t you that ‘tip’ sister?”
Qin Ruyan: “Huh?”
The lead disciple came forward eagerly, saying, “We found this girl at a teahouse. She has a unique constitution, born with seductive bones, and has even practiced dual cultivation techniques.”
He grinned proudly, seeking praise. “If we bring her back to the sect, the Sect Master will be very pleased!”
“Seductive bones?” Qin Ruyan’s brows furrowed slightly.
She walked over to Ah Qin and pinched her lightly, infusing her with some spiritual energy to check her condition. Instantly, she was stunned.
“She has the Charming Maiden Spirit Marrow Body!”
This was one of the top-tier physiques for dual cultivation!
Not only would she cultivate extremely fast, but she would also constantly generate pure energy that could greatly benefit her Dao companion.
It wasn’t just the Hehuan Sect—any cultivator would consider someone with such a body to be an invaluable treasure!
“You said you found her at a teahouse?” Qin Ruyan asked.
“That’s right,” the black-clad disciple confirmed. “We saw her sitting alone and planned to capture her. Who knew she’d be so fast—Luckily, she didn’t get away. We’ve really struck gold this time!”
Qin Ruyan felt an increasing sense of unease.
How could such a precious “treasure” be wandering around in the mortal world alone?
She turned to Ah Qin and asked, “Who are you? Which sect are you from?”
Ah Qin bit her lip. “My Master is the Holy Son of Hidden Gauze Sect. He will definitely find me!”
“You mean Li Ran?!” Qin Ruyan’s heart skipped a beat.
Cold Wind City was very close to the Hidden Gauze Sect!
The black-clad disciple beside her sneered. “The Hidden Gauze Sect teaching dual cultivation? And you call him the Master—Who are you trying to fool?”
Ah Qin shook her head. “I’m not a disciple of the Hidden Gauze Sect. I’m just a servant by the Holy Son’s side.”
“Still pretending—”
“Shut up!” Qin Ruyan scolded, turning back to Ah Qin. “You may leave.”
The black-clad disciple was stunned and asked in confusion, “Saintess, you don’t actually believe her, do you? The Hidden Gauze Sect has strict prohibitions, and it’s obvious she’s lying!”
Qin Ruyan shook her head, her sense of foreboding growing stronger.
Everyone knew about the Hidden Gauze Sect’s prohibitions, and no normal person would lie about something so basic—unless she was telling the truth.
Seeing Ah Qin about to leave, the black-clad disciple couldn’t hold back any longer. He reached out to grab her. “Better capture her first and report to the Sect Master for judgment!”
Qin Ruyan shouted sharply, “Stop—”
But before she could finish, a flash of dazzling light streaked past!
Shhh!
The black-clad disciple’s arm, which had been reaching for Ah Qin, was severed cleanly at the shoulder!
He didn’t realize what had happened until his arm hit the ground.
Clutching his shoulder, he screamed, “Ahhh! my arm!”
Shhh!
Another flash of silver light cut his scream short.
His body froze, a thin line of blood appearing on his neck.
Moments later, his head slid off slowly.
“Who is it?!”
“An enemy attack!”
The remaining disciples shouted in panic.
Qin Ruyan watched in horror as a man walked slowly toward them.
Her heart clenched as though gripped by a giant hand.
A trace of fear flickered in her eyes.
It was him—Li Ran!
<+>
“Holy Son!” Ah Qin ran over and clutched his arm, tears streaming down her face.
She had never experienced battle before, and the terror she felt earlier had only been suppressed by sheer willpower.
Now that she saw Li Ran, her emotions overflowed uncontrollably.
“Don’t be afraid, it’s all right now.” Li Ran gently patted her back and gave her a kiss on the lips.
Then, he lifted his gaze, his eyes cold as he looked at Qin Ruyan.
He had only stepped out briefly to make a purchase, and someone dared to lay hands on his people!
Qin Ruyan’s throat tightened.
She hurried to explain, “Holy Son Li, this is all a misunderstanding. They didn’t know she was your servant!”
“A misunderstanding?” Li Ran raised an eyebrow. “Ah Qin, was this a misunderstanding?”
Ah Qin bit her lip, remaining silent.
Li Ran spoke softly, “Don’t worry about causing trouble for me. Just tell the truth.”
Ah Qin wiped her tears and said with grievance, “I… I told them I was from the Hidden Gauze Sect and that you were coming back soon, but they still tried to take me away for dual cultivation. Luckily, I ran fast…”
The disciples of the Hehuan Sect felt a chill run down their spines.
Ah Qin wasn’t lying, and she had indeed warned them, but they simply hadn’t believed her!
“Dual cultivation…”
Li Ran’s eyes grew even colder. He said calmly, “Very well, then you can all die.”
“Wait!” Qin Ruyan cried, but before she could finish, silver light erupted once more. Li Ran’s spear intent surged wildly around them.
In the blink of an eye, Li Ran was back in place, as though he had never moved.
The black-clad disciples stood motionless, thin lines of blood appearing around their necks. A soft breeze passed through.
Their heads rolled to the ground, blood spraying into the air!
“Ahhh!”
Shrieks echoed from all around as onlookers fled in terror at the gruesome scene.
Li Ran shook the blood off his silver spear with disgust, his gaze turning toward Qin Ruyan, filled with unmistakable killing intent.
Qin Ruyan felt as though she was being stared down by an ancient beast, her heart gripped with fear. Cold sweat dripped down her back. “Holy Son Li, I am Qin Ruyan of the Hehuan Sect. I’m here on orders from the Sect Master to deliver a gift to Sect Master Leng. This really was all just a misunderstanding!”
At the same time, her fingers quietly formed a hand seal, preparing to burn her blood essence and escape at any moment. She knew she stood no chance against Li Ran in a direct confrontation.
At that moment, Ah Qin tugged at Li Ran’s sleeve and said softly, “Holy Son, she really wasn’t involved. She even said she’d let me go earlier…”
