Wuthering Waves: For The Future of Me, Myself and I

Chapter 16: Fractsidus

Katsuri walked endlessly with no specific goal in mind. Around the city, next to the river, up on the bridge, everywhere.

Even pushing against her social skills to walk around the crowds.

Somehow, she is going to need to find a way to make use of her knowledge.

But there's one glaring problem...

There were so many dialogues inside the game that she doesn't actually remember how it went.

Like, she was talking to someone for a second before a dragon comes down and now she needs to do a run sequence?

She's not even that skilled in using the mouse and keyboard!

Her body was weak now, so how could she even run for that long!?

"Hah..."

It felt like she's been sighing more and more these days when compared to her time on earth.

Makes quite a bit of sense when she actually realized that she's had more worries here than there.

It can't be helped then.

For now, she just needed to wait for Rover to actually arrive in Rinascita before she could even do anything.

But Katsuri suddenly remembered something.

Back on earth when she was still on her computer playing Wuthering Waves, she had done her research on how to build characters.

Since then, she had seen some leaks of some future to-be-released characters.

Let's see... Uh, no. She can't remember their names.

She was so enamored by Carlotta that she never any research on any other characters.

Being teleported into a fictional world is not really something that would happen everyday.

It would be nice if she could actually find some of the other main cast from the game.

Like for example... Carlotta?

'Who am I kidding? There's no way it'd be that easy to meet someone. This place is huge!'

It would feel like searching for a needle in a haystack. Almost impossible if she's not using any equipment like a magnet or something similar.

"You are...?"

"Hm?"

While being lost in thought, a girl a some height taller than her called her out. Her hair was quite ashy with some highlights of light pink.

Grey eyes with red pupils, she looked very innocent. Quite a naive appearance if she could say so herself.

A perpetual smile pasted on her face.

Although she was wearing black overalls, Katsuri felt like she had seen her before. Something about the girl's appearance is screaming 'I know her!'.

But she can't recall exactly what.

"What is your name?"

"...Tell me yours first."

She needed to be cautious.

Since the girl was the one that had approached, Katsuri has the advantage.

"My apologies. My name is Lily."

"Lily?" She tried to recall anything about that name. But even as she tried her hardest, nothing appeared.

"Yes, can you tell me your name?"

"...Katsuri."

Still, even if the girl had lied, she also did not tell them her real name.

All her time here had been spent as 'Katsuri', not herself.

Which means, she doesn't exist.

Would be great if such a thing actually happens. Maybe she wouldn't have to worry too much about surviving in the future.

"Such a pretty name. I'm sure your past are filled with happiness."

"...Yes. You're right."

After a small hesitation, she answered.

Because saying that she didn't have any happy memories would be a lie.

At the very least, she'd lived a year or two happy, no matter how short that may be.

But this girl that had approached her still felt extremely suspicious. To that, Katsuri thought that she is going to need to end this conversation and get away quickly.

Who knows? Maybe she's going to be kidnapped into some kind of cult or something. Perhaps she'd be sacrificed to awaken an old ancient god from the previous era.

Imagine.

"I'm gonna go home. Don't follow me or I'll call security." Threateningly said, Katsuri ran the opposite direction, trying to make sure the girl can't follow her.

"Yes. Understood."

Right as Katsuri left, the girl began talking to someone.

"...Was this disguise so obvious?"

"Of course not. But if seem to me that she had sensed something from the way you act. I mean, even I would be suspicious if a stranger approached me and asked for my name. you should do it better next time." A male voice responded.

"Is that so? I'll be sure to do that, then. But it is such a shame that the conversation ended so quickly. It was quite a fun one."

"You call that a conversation?"

"Silence. I'll try again when fate allows us to meet."

"Alright then. Speaking of which, how is your plan going along? Do you need an assistance, perhaps?"

"No."

"...Hm."

Christoforo turned around and left the alley.

As the girl stared into the last direction Katsuri had left, she snapped her finger. As she did, her clothes changed.

From black overalls to a red dress, exposed shoulders and a red collar. A length of bandage covered her right eye.

Her straight hair was tied into two long braids as it emphasized the volume.

A lycoris appeared on her hand. She took a small moment to smell it.

"...A Threnodian. As expected, I'm not wrong. If we could get her on our side, it'll bring massive benefits."

She turned her head.

"It seemed that even he didn't notice. Perhaps I would've also been tricked if I did not pay any attention."

Although it was a lot weaker than normal, that is no doubt a Threnodian's frequency that exist inside of that small girl.

How could she control herself from rampaging? How is she able to hold such massive hatred inside such a small body?

Phrolova pressed a hand against her heart.

"...It's alright. There's still time. I can get her anytime."

She turned around and exited the alley, following Christoforo's steps.
