Wuthering Waves: For The Future of Me, Myself and I

Chapter 10: Ragunna City. Part 2

Echoes roamed the land of prosperity and joy. Everywhere she looked, there would be at least 3 different types of echoes inside her vision.

Katsuri inhaled deeply as she calmed down her racing heart.

She's here, inside Ragunna City. The place where the main story quest takes place.

She looked around.

She was wondering at what point of the story was this. Had Rover even reached Rinascita yet?

If so, had the Carnevale started?

While thinking about the main quest, she saw a lot of people with different daily attires. It seemed to her that they were also a bunch of tourist.

One question answered, the Carnevale hasn't started yet.

Now, has Rover reached this Region yet?

Growl~

Suddenly, a noise escaped her stomach.

She had been so focused on surviving that she forgot... She had been starving and dehydrated.

It's hard to imagine forgetting life's necessity

The Ranger besides her smiled as she pulled on the smaller person's wrist.

"Let's go. When I first got here someone recommended a shop. I wouldn't say it's the best, but their foods are absolutely delicious."

"Really? I'm... interested now."

"Great! Now, let's go."

As they moved together, finally reached a place. It was bustling with customers, waiting eagerly for their food.

But amongst the loud voices of the people talking, one caught her attention.

"Daily Panini ready! Nuvola Pasta! Ah... Hey! Who ordered Pizza Tropicale!?"

As they got their turn to order, a beautiful chef with cat-ears-like hat greeted them.

"Welcome, welcome! What would you like to eat today?" The chef excitedly called out towards the both of them.

Katsuri had to ponder for a moment, is she always like this 24/7?

She herself can't imagine working so excitedly while treating other people like they're a celebrity wouldn't be exhausting...

"I'll take a Steak Margherita and Ragunna Expresso. What about you?"

"Ah, um, I'll take the same thing you had."

"Gotcha! 2 Steak Margherita and Ragunna Expresso!"

The two of them found a seat while waiting for their order.

Danjin was messing around with her terminal, her attention entirely focused on it.

Meanwhile, Katsuri had her attention focused on the small group of echoes, each with their own instrument.

It's still quite unbelievable to her that all these doll-looking being had sentience. The Echoes she had only seen from the other side of a monitor was now alive and kicking.

They were very lively, even the music that was being played had successfully caught her ears.

"...wait, I can't hear tones."

Indeed.

How could she forget that she's tone-deaf?

What a blunder.

Anyways, her attention moved towards the massive building right behind the small band, only being divided by a river.

That massive building had been her only way in to the Ragunna City, the Order of the Deep.

For those that had forgotten, Phoebe is part of the Order.

But from what she could remember...

The Order is corrupted.

Apparently, a Threnodian (whatever that is) had fused itself with the Sentinel Imperator.

Due to that, the beliefs that are being spread around by the Order all must not be trusted for it had been part of the plan by the Threnodian to bring upon the Lament.

After all, the whole entire reason for Rover's journey was to stop the Lament from happening again, like what had happened 10000 years ago.

What is a Lament?

She forgot.

She could somewhat remember the tiny bits and pieces she had gotten during the Black Shore main quest, but that doesn't mean she had taken everything to the heart.

Although the visuals and the cutscenes inside the Blackshore had captured her heart, her heart was already taken by a character from Rinascita.

I am sorry, Shorekeeper.

But it's alright. Shorekeeper has Rover watching over her.

If possible, she doesn't want to suddenly come in a swoop her like a princess when Kuro Games had painstakingly written a storyline for her and Rover.

It'd feel like she's cucking Rover.

NTR was her least favorite tag of all time, due to that, she'd rather not get in the way of a romance between two characters.

Besides, with the way Shorekeeper pronounced her love for Rover(technically), it'd feel wrong to take that away.

Not that she could do so anyways.

After all, who is she?

A normal otaku girl with no life whatsoever.

Who would ever be attracted to such a NEET?

Unless the other party could already take care of themselves for the next 50 years, nobody would realistically looked in her general direction.

Taking care of oneself is a pain in and of itself, moreover taking care of another useless person.

"Steak Margherita and Ragunna Expresso ready!"

Finally, their food arrived.

"Here, your weapon. Although it would be a shame to part with such high quality sword, I can't really keep it for myself. Besides, I like my own sword very much."

Danjin placed the long sword onto the side of the table.

Katsuri, remembering something, brought up her own question.

"Did you, maybe, saw another sets of weapon when you found me? Like a gun, maybe...?"

"No. Did you have more weapon with you? I'm sorry, I did not check the place thoroughly so I didn't think you'd have more weapon with you. If you want, I can go back there to search for them."

"You don't have to, I was just wondering. I might've been imagining it but I did remember wielding gun before... Probably just my sleep deprivation doing its work."

"Is that so? Then, I would probably need to rent a house or a room then."

"Eh? Why?"

"For you, of course. Do you have any money? Can you rent a place to live here?"

"..."

Right... She's practically an immigrant, isn't she?

When have you ever seen an immigrant live lavishly?

At most, the government would provide places to live. Even so, most would stay homeless for most of their stay time if they don't find a way to get money soon.

But then she'd be leeching off Danjin...

"Can I reject?"

"Why would you?"

"Um, I don't feel like it...?"

"That's not good. Someone your age should live in an environment fit for yourself. Living in the wild wouldn't be sufficient."

"..."

Did this girl really think she's still a child?

"Um, Danjin."

"Yes? What is it? You haven't touched your food for a while, they're getting cold."

"No, no. I am not a child."

While munching on the steak, Danjin faced Katsuri, the small face seemingly radiating seriousness.

Even so, everything about her literally screamed 'immature'.

Even right now, her expression just came off as cute to her.

"I am not a child. I am 16 years old. Practically an adult."

"Is that so?"

Munch Munch

She continued eating her steak without as much as batting an eye.

Katsuri, after witnessing such lackluster reaction, felt lost.

'Does this person not care at all?!'
