Chapter 158: Chapter 158: Meeting Huangpu Ying Again

Chapter 158: Meeting Huangpu Ying Again

With all the major powers gathered, the highest-caliber seed selection for the younger generation of the Great Yan Empire officially commenced. As the crowd settled, Mo Jingtian's gaze lingered on Langtian for a few moments, a flash of surprise crossing his eyes. He looked at Mo Ling, who stood beside him, and, in a tone only the two could hear, asked, "What do you think?"

"Langtian has likely reached the half-step Nirvana stage. I wouldn't stand a chance against him," Mo Ling replied with a complex expression.

"Who would have thought the Lin Clan would be so fortunate as to produce a prodigy like Langtian," Mo Jingtian sighed. "To ensure you secure a spot, I'll see to it that you're not placed in the same pathway as Langtian."

"Thank you, Father." Mo Ling hesitated briefly, then nodded with a wry smile. Though some might see it as cheating, he knew that contending with Langtian in the same corridor would give him virtually no chance of success. With so much riding on the Hundred Empire War, even the royal family could not afford such a loss, making this strategy the safest course.

After nodding subtly, Mo Jingtian stepped onto a high platform. His face once again bore a smile as he scanned the crowd, greeting them loudly, "Welcome, all. As your host, I extend my greetings on behalf of the royal family."

Hearing this, representatives of the various powerful factions below smiled in response.

"This seed selection only occurs once every twenty years. I'm sure you've all explained the rules to your participants, so I won't dwell on the details. Before you, this great hall will serve as the venue, with multiple entryways around its perimeter. Soon, each of you will draw lots to determine your entryway," Mo Jingtian announced briskly. Without further ceremony, he extended his hand, revealing a handful of bamboo slips, each glowing with a faint light.

"Everyone participating in the seed selection, step forward and draw!"

With a subtle nod toward Mo Ling, Mo Jingtian activated a hint of hidden energy from within, sending a signal. Then, as his grip loosened, the slips shot into the air, hovering above the field.

As the bamboo slips floated upward, participants sprang into action, lunging toward the slips. Langtian also extended his hand casually, drawing a slip marked "Right Six."

When all the slips were claimed, Mo Jingtian glanced at Langtian with particular interest, then gave a powerful shout, "Enter the arena!"

At his command, figures surged forward, moving swiftly into the hall through their designated passageways.

"Langtian, Lin Dong, it's time to go," Lin Fan said, motioning for them to proceed.

"Understood!"

With a nod and a smile, Lin Dong and Langtian took off toward their respective corridors, moving with remarkable speed. The others followed suit, and within minutes, nearly all the contestants had entered the vast hall. All the while, many kept glancing toward Langtian. After all, no one wished to encounter a half-step Nirvana powerhouse like him along the same route. Even Mo Ling, the crown prince, had secured a special arrangement to avoid this fate.

Observing Langtian's choice of "Right Six," many people sighed in relief, though some paled at the realization that their own slips placed them along neighboring paths. They knew that encountering Langtian in these halls could end only in defeat.

Unconcerned with others' reactions, Langtian slipped into his passage as easily as smoke. The light dimmed slightly, revealing a long, broad corridor extending deep into the hall.

Langtian already understood the selection process well. By his estimate, at least several dozen competitors would be fighting for the five available spots, representing the best of the Great Yan Empire's youth. Only those who proved superior to these elite talents could claim the coveted seed spots.

Moving swiftly yet leisurely, Langtian crossed the dim hallway, his manner almost casual, as if he were merely taking a stroll. With his current power, the competition held little interest for him. Even if he were to face Mo Jingtian, the "Royal Tiger," he felt confident in holding his own. Against his peers, this selection was nothing more than a formality.

In just a few minutes, he reached the end of the passage, where an enormous iron door blocked his way. Raising an eyebrow, Langtian chuckled softly, wondering who had the misfortune to meet him first.

He threw a light punch, and the iron door shattered instantly, sending shards flying. As they neared him, however, the fragments disintegrated to dust.

Stepping past the broken door, Langtian entered a spacious hall. He took a few steps forward, then stopped, sensing a familiar presence. His gaze drifted toward a nearby pillar, where a man in dark clothing stood, his face twisted in a grim expression.

Upon recognizing the man, Langtian's lips curved into a slight smile. Truly, fate had a way of bringing old foes together. This was none other than his long-standing adversary, Huangpu Ying, of the Huangpu Clan.
