Chapter 137: The Second Devouring Ancestral Symbol!

The ancient, mysterious symbol hovered quietly before Lin Langtian and Lin Dong. Though only the size of a human head, it had no fixed form, constantly shifting and changing. Despite its fluidity, the symbol remained as a rotating black hole, exuding a power so overwhelming it seemed capable of swallowing the heavens, with faint waves rippling through the surrounding space.

This was a black hole, a symbol of the heavens and earth formed from boundless devouring power.

"So, this is the legendary Devouring Ancestral Symbol? It's truly remarkable," Lin Langtian murmured as he observed the symbol, his eyes filled with curiosity. Although he could sense its profound and mysterious power, he also felt a faint, unspoken rejection from it. He guessed this was likely due to the traces of dark energy within him.

With a small sigh, Lin Langtian looked at Lin Dong, his gaze steady. "Lin Dong, since you are the one this symbol has chosen, as agreed, it belongs to you. I have fulfilled the trust given to me by the Black-Eyed Elder. However, I would like to borrow it for one night and will return it to you tomorrow. This is my first condition."

Lin Dong was briefly taken aback but, after a moment's thought, he nodded. "If that's the case, then I'll lend the Devouring Ancestral Symbol to you for one night, Young Master Langtian."

Lin Langtian was a bit surprised at how readily Lin Dong agreed. After all, the Devouring Ancestral Symbol was a rare treasure desired by all. Yet Lin Dong seemed unconcerned. Since the symbol had come from Lin Langtian in the first place, and knowing he couldn't stop Langtian if he tried to take it by force, Lin Dong decided to trust him. After their time together, he believed Lin Langtian's character was above betrayal.

Lin Langtian, unaware of Lin Dong's exact thoughts, felt a deeper respect for his future rival's steady and decisive nature. After handling the exchange, Lin Langtian saw Lin Dong to the door, then turned back to the Devouring Ancestral Symbol, his eyes filled with a fervent gleam.

"Lady Ling," he called out, "how should I go about replicating this symbol?"

Since he couldn't bond with the original, he resolved to copy it. He would make the Devouring Ancestral Symbol his own. The room was silent until Lady Ling appeared, her elegant gaze assessing the symbol with interest. After a moment's thought, she said, "I've only heard of the Golden Spirit Mirror's mirroring powers, but try facing the mirror toward the Devouring Ancestral Symbol."

Nodding, Lin Langtian opened his mouth, and from within emerged a flash of black-gold light that took the shape of the Golden Spirit Mirror. Focusing, he raised the mirror and angled its reflective surface to face the Devouring Ancestral Symbol hovering in the air before him.

As soon as the mirror aligned with the symbol, it began to tremble, releasing an intense wave of black energy that flooded the room, forcing even Lady Ling to retreat into Lin Langtian's dantian to avoid the surge. Time passed slowly until the black aura began to fade, but within the mirror, an unusual energy lingered, similar to the devouring power of the original Ancestral Symbol.

Noticing this, Lin Langtian's eyes lit up with excitement. Glancing at the mirror, he saw an identical Devouring Ancestral Symbol floating within its surface, rotating like a black hole, releasing ripples of devouring power that caused the air around it to waver.

Staring at the mirror, Lin Langtian realized this wasn't a mere reflection but a physical manifestation within the mirror. Moving the mirror slightly, he confirmed his suspicion as the symbol inside remained visible, continuing to rotate. In that quiet room, Lin Langtian broke into an uncontrollable grin, thrilled at what he'd achieved.

The Devouring Ancestral Symbol had successfully been duplicated.

As he reveled in his success, the mirror emitted a strange hum, and the surface rippled as though beckoning him. Extending his right hand cautiously, Lin Langtian pressed it to the mirror's surface, which yielded like water to his touch. Feeling around, he found an object the size of a human head and, with a firm grasp, pulled it from the mirror.

The mirror surface stilled, and as the ripples faded, the Devouring Ancestral Symbol within disappeared. Yet in his hand, Lin Langtian held a duplicate — a black, ancient symbol that mirrored the one floating on the table.

The two symbols faced each other, as though separated by an invisible mirror, indistinguishable from one another. Lin Langtian knew, however, that no mere illusion divided them.

The second Devouring Ancestral Symbol of the Tianxuan Continent had been born.
