Chapter 3: Revenge in Style
Min-jae had been occupied with work for days. The organization of his company's anniversary celebration was in full swing, and he was doing everything he could to ensure the event went flawlessly. He was proud of his company's success and everything he had achieved. But while everyone around him was talking about business plans and the celebration, Claire was always on his mind. Her attitude, her arrogance, the way she coldly dismissed him — it confused him. It hurt him deeply, but there was nothing he could do. He couldn't get her out of his head.
On the other side of the city, Claire hadn't just moved on after leaving Min-jae — she had discovered more about him than she ever expected. After she left, she spent a few days in Korea, researching him. It didn't take long before she learned something extraordinary — Min-jae wasn't just some guy with luxurious things and the look of a typical rich guy. He was the owner of one of the most well-known companies in Korea. This was the information that gave her a new perspective on him — and ignited her desire for revenge.
For her, it was perfect. His company's anniversary celebration was the ideal opportunity. She planned to get back at him, but in a way that he would never forget. His confident demeanor, his view of the world — it was all too much to simply forgive him for. And now that she knew the celebration was scheduled, she knew she had to seize the moment.
Claire didn't just want to show up at the celebration — she planned to be the star of the evening, but not in the way Min-jae would expect. The decision was clear: she would show up in the most provocative outfit Korean eyes had ever seen. Given how Min-jae had perceived her, she felt it was time for her to take control of the situation. And then it was obvious — she would come, grab his attention, but not in the way he would ever imagine.
The day of the celebration arrived, and the atmosphere was electric. Min-jae stood on stage, dressed in his best suit, talking about the big plans and success of his company. Everyone was looking at him with admiration, everyone wanted to be in his world, everyone wanted to be a part of his successful story. But Min-jae couldn't concentrate. His attention kept drifting, always coming back to thoughts of Claire. He knew she wasn't just some ordinary tourist; she had something more than an average girl. Yes, he realized that she was much more — and all of it made him think about her for days.
And just then, at the moment he thought nothing could surprise him anymore, she walked in.
Claire walked toward the stage with purpose, her steps decisive, and her appearance... incredibly provocative. She wore a black lace top that barely covered her curves. Her red leather mini skirt left very little to the imagination. It was the perfect outfit for the night. All eyes were on her, and the paparazzi started raising their cameras. Min-jae was paralyzed.
His heart skipped a beat when he saw her approaching. He couldn't believe she did this — that she was actually here, and looking like that. As he watched her steps, all he could feel was surprise. His thoughts were clouded, and his brain refused to process what was happening. He couldn't recover from the first glance at her.
And then Claire was there, on the stage, took the microphone, and addressed the audience as though she was the star of the event.
"Good evening, everyone!" she said, her voice clear and cold. "It's a pleasure to be here with you, at this important event. And I must say that Min-jae…" she paused dramatically, smiling sarcastically, "...is the man you all need to know. He's my boyfriend," she finished, looking at Min-jae with a smile. Her tone was cold, slightly sarcastic, and Min-jae was stunned.
"What... what's going on?" he thought, obviously shocked.
Everyone was staring at her, some confused, others bewildered, but everyone was trying to figure out who she actually was. Min-jae stood still, as if rooted to the spot. He could only watch her. What did this mean? Why did she do this?
And before he could respond or even move, Claire took another step. She approached him and kissed him on the cheek — passionately, so that everyone present saw it. Flashing lights went off immediately, and the paparazzi began snapping pictures from every angle. Min-jae couldn't utter a word. It felt like the whole world stopped, like everything froze in that moment.
"What is she trying to achieve?" he thought, trying to maintain composure.
Claire didn't stop. She didn't say anything, just hugged him, holding him close, as if completely unaware of the chaos she had just caused. The paparazzi snapped pictures from all sides, and Min-jae was completely shocked. Then, without a word, she simply left. She vanished into the crowd as if she had never been there.
The next day, the newspapers were buzzing about his "provocative girlfriend," about how she had completely overshadowed him at his own celebration. The comments were mixed — some thought she was just another woman wanting to be the center of attention, while others believed she was his lover. Min-jae couldn't calm down. He still didn't know why Claire did this. What was she really trying to achieve?
And while he tried to figure out her motives, he couldn't stop thinking about her. Claire wasn't just an ordinary woman. He was sure of that.
