Chapter 105: The Alpha Strength
The blow connected, slamming into the Alpha's side, sending it skidding backward, claws digging into the dirt to stop itself. Alpha growled. Then—it laughed. "Heh… you're good. No wonder my pack have trouble with you."
Ben flexed his fingers. His body morphed again, his four appendages shifting—two into whips, one into a drill, the last curling into a barbed spike. His grin widened. "You haven't seen shit yet."
Then he attacked.
Whips lashed. Claws clashed. Sparks flew as their bodies blurred, moving faster than any ordinary eye could follow.
Ben's drill screeched against hardened chitin, the force alone sending shockwaves through the air. The Alpha countered, twisting its arm into a spear, thrusting forward.
Ben's body snapped to the side, the spear barely grazing his ribs—but he caught it. His barbed spike shot out, clamping onto the Alpha's limb, locking it in place.
The Alpha's eyes narrowed.
Ben's grin turned sharp. "Got you, bastard." His whip-arm lashed out, wrapping around the Alpha's leg—and yanked.
The Ravager lost its footing.
Ben jump forward—pickaxe raised high.
The Alpha twisted unnaturally, its entire body bending in impossible angles as it dodged Ben's attack at the last possible moment.
Its limbs contorted, folding in on themselves like liquid, then snapped back into shape instantly.
Ben's eyes flashed in frustration. That reaction speed was insane. His attack had been dead on, yet the Alpha flowed around it like water.
A burst of silver light streaked through the battlefield, mana-infused chains erupting from the ground, twisting through the air like living serpents.
Elvira. Her hands were outstretched, eyes blazing with raw power as she cast her spell. "Binding Chains!"
The chains shoot toward the Alpha, glowing with a searing blue light. But the Alpha were indifferent.
Without looking, it snapped its body backward, its spine bending unnaturally, dodging the first set of chains by mere inches. Its arm morphed into a curved blade, slashing through the next incoming chain, severing it in one clean motion.
Elvira clicked her tongue, her mana flaring again. "Not good enough? Then take this!"
A second set of chains erupted from her shadow this time, faster, sharper—hundreds of thin, needle-like restraints shot forward, aiming for every joint, every weak point.
Ben took his shot. As the Alpha shifted its attention toward the new threat, Ben's drill-arm roared to life again, spinning into a deadly blur as he closed the distance.
The Alpha twisted its body mid-air, dodging left—Ben anticipated it. He feinted right, then twisted, swinging the drill low.
A sharp screeching sound split through the battlefield as the drill slammed into the Alpha's leg.
BAM!
The force of impact shattered the ground beneath them, sending debris flying. The Alpha reeled back, its leg torn open, black blood spilling onto the dirt.
But it wasn't done.
It moved instantly, its wounded leg folding into itself, reforming like clay, healing as it counterattacked.
A sharp spear-like tail shot out from its back, aiming for Ben's head. Ben jerked back, barely avoiding instant death, the tail grazing past his shoulder.
Too close.
Elvira took advantage. "NOW!"
The moment the Alpha committed to its counterattack, the chains struck.
SNAP!
One wrapped around its arm. Another coiled around its leg. Elvira poured every last drop of mana into her spell, forcing the chains to tighten. They sank deep into the Alpha's body, glowing with a pulsating blue light, disrupting its regeneration.
Ben's grin turned sharp. His pickaxe rose, gleaming in the firelight. And he swung.
The Alpha moved. The moment Ben's pickaxe descended, the chains snapped.
Not from Elvira's spell failing.
No.
The Alpha tore through them.
CRACK!
The bindings that were fueled with a lot of mana shattered like brittle glass.
Elvira's's eyes widened. 'Impossible.' She has calculated the chain strength, she was sure it will have no problem capturing both inferno and strom, but the Alpha is not even fazed.
The Alpha caught the falling pickaxe mid-swing. With one hand.
Ben twisted, muscles coiling as he tried to yank it free, but the Alpha's grip tightened. Its fingers dug into the handle, locking it in place.
It squeezed. The sheer force made the air tremble, the weapon groaning under the pressure. But Ben wasn't worried. It wouldn't break. It never would.
The Alpha's six eyes gleamed with interest. "Interesting."
Ben grinned. "You have no idea."
Without warning, he move forward, twisting his entire body to strike. The Alpha's grip loosened for a fraction of a second, just enough for Ben to rip the pickaxe free and swing with all his strength.
The Alpha tilted its head. Ben's attack slashed through empty air. His instincts screamed. It was behind him.
He spun—too slow.
A bladed spike shot from the Alpha's arm, streaking toward him like a spear. Ben barely dodged. He threw himself to the side, but even then—pain erupted across his chest.
A deep gash split open his torso, blood spilling out in a sickening spray. He barely had time to react before the Alpha pivoted, its other arm already morphing—this time into a bladed whip.
WHIP-CRACK!
Ben raised an arm to block.
Too late.
SLASH!
The whip ripped through his defense, carving deep into his side. Ben stumbled, blood spilling down his body.
Elvira fired another spell. A burst of concentrated mana shot toward the Alpha's side.
The Alpha didn't dodge. It turned. And opened its mouth. It ate the spell.
Elvira's heart stopped. "...What?"
The Alpha devoured her magic whole. Its body shuddered, its form glowing faintly, absorbing the energy before redirecting it into its own limbs.
Then, with a deafening boom, it struck. Ben barely had time to move before a spiked limb shot forward, slamming into his gut.
BAM!
His body shot backward like a cannonball, crashing through the base's wall. The impact shattered stone, sending debris flying.
Elvira staggered back, cold sweat running down her spine. The Alpha turned toward her. And then, it smiled. A knowing, human-like smile. It was toying with them. 'How the hell it eat my attack? is it because it's pure mana?'
