Chapter 337: § CAN'T I ? §

Kraig was just at Yanarym's house and found out that she had already left. He could not contact her because his communicator had been destroyed from the recent endeavor he had from out of town.

When he reached the gate of the academy he saw Marcus' tall stature that was standing right after Yanarym. He frowned just at the sight of seeing Marcus but what had him halt was seeing Yanarym smiling at another man…

Kraig knew who that was. He remembered the face but forgot where he met him. One thing that rang in his mind was that the man liked Yanarym. Why would Marcus just stand and watch over there? Kraig found himself running in her direction and stopped a few meters away because he realized how foolish he looked just by sprinting like an excited kid. It was too late when he stopped though, she already swerved her sight and saw him coming to her.

Kraig was flustered being seen by those adoring eyes. After a year of relationship with her and nothing changed about her. On the other hand, he felt like his defense was gradually collapsing whenever they were together.

"Love." He smiled widely and extended his arms unintentionally. It was just he was used to whenever this happened she would come running to him and embrace him so tight that he could feel comfort in her delicate arms. As he expected, she was the one who rushed in his direction. But because she was holding the books in her hand she could not give him the hug he was anticipating.

"I thought you were already in the class. Why are you so sweaty? Did you run?" She was about to put her books on the ground when he used his ability to make them float in the air right then. She pounced on him to hug him. "I miss you." Kraig smiled widely and patted her head and stroked her hair.

He glanced at Marcus and the other guy with a winning grin plastered on his face. But quickly hid it before Yanarym could see. "I miss you too, should we head inside?"

"Yeah." He gathered her books and carried them himself.

"Marcus, see you at home!" She waved her hand, Kraig did it, threw him a glance, and looked at the other guy instead. Then, he remembered, it was the guy from the cafeteria from last year. The one who criticized him for being in a relationship with Yanarym.

When they managed to get far from the other two, Kraig redirected his attention to Yanarym who was clinging to his arms with a big smile on her face. Naturally, it infected his mood to get elated.

"I know you are grade conscious but why bother bringing too many books that you won't be able to read the entire day?" He said while they slowly walked to their first class. He looked at the books he was holding and it was different from yesterday's books.

"I can just skim the content." She answered blithely. Kraig nodded, he understood she was a gifted scholar who could comprehend the notion of the book just by skimming it. What could he expect? His girlfriend was gifted with brains and beauty.

"That reminds me," he muttered when the man from the gate came across his mind. It was one of Yanarym's admirers. "The freshman at the gate earlier, why are you talking to him?" Yanarym looked at Kraig who was slouching his head to have a peek at her face. He was smiling but his eyes were sharp, it did not matter how much time would pass. His possessiveness would never fade. "You know him?" He asked, faking the amenable smile.

"We did not exactly talk. I just met him, I don't know his name either." She answered with nonchalant behavior and shifted her eyes to the hallway to continue walking steadily. Kraig's brows crossed with her response and even felt sour just by seeing her smile with the subject of their conversation.

"Hmm," he hooked up a smile with cold eyes and looked straight ahead. "I noticed that you smile a lot now compared to before." He said but the chilly tone could not conceal. "Even to people, you don't know." She paused and he ceased his steps as well. When he looked at her she was blushing as if he said something frivolous and romantic. Kraig raised his eyebrow in curiosity about what interpretation she had in her mind this time.

"Why are you stopping in the middle of the corridor?" He asked and she shyly looked away and walked ahead of him pacing her steps. Did he say something to make her blush? He discerned the words that were said to him earlier and there was nothing wrong with it. Perhaps it was about his bitter tone? But how could she blush if he was displeased at the moment? "Wait for me." She halted and waited for him and they walked alongside each other with no words between them. Kraig would glance in her direction because she was not clinging to him anymore and it honestly bothered him. What is she thinking just now?

She blushed when they were talking about the man from the gate, Kraig's face formed an ugly wrinkle when he was concluding his thoughts. It was ridiculous just to think that Yanarym liked someone else than him, especially if it was someone who didn't even have the slightest courage to talk to her for years. And as he remembered that man was younger than them, what could he offer to her?

"Rym," he called her with a solemn tone. She did not look at him, "Why are you blushing when we are talking about some other man? Do you like that guy who you don't even know the name of?"

"What?" She met his gaze and he could see that she was startled by the question. "What are you saying? I like another man?" She uttered with the confusion visible in her tone.

"Then, why are you blushing?"

"Be-because!" She exclaimed but did not answer and looked away again before her cheeks reddened, "You should know! Are you dense?!" She yelled and turned to look at him with an apparent embarrassment written all over her reaction. Kraig felt dumb because he honestly can't think of another answer than her liking some other people. "Because you're je-jealous, you stupid! It's making me happy!" She screamed and huffed after that loud confession. Both of them were stunned at their spot when the situation sank into their realization.

She covered her face with her palms and ran away. While Kraig starred in a daze where she left. He clearly saw how her eyes widened and her ears flushed red. "She called me stupid? She could even insult me with names now." He was supposed to sound angry but the smile on his face could not be suppressed. "I said, wait for me!" He yelled to her with a gentle laugh and followed in her footsteps.

When he was able to reach her pace, he grinned widely and stole glances in her direction, and faked a cough to gain her attention. "You know, it's not good if a lover is happy when her counterpart is jealous. It's not healthy for their relationship." He jeered and she even pouted upon hearing his statement.

"I did not do anything to even make you jealous, why is it like it's my fault?" She sulked and looked at him and attempted to take her books from his possession but he evaded her smoothly and held the books with one arm before he snaked his other arm to her waist and stole a kiss on her cheek.

"Why are you sulking? I'm just saying you should not be happy when I'm jealous." She pressed her lips together and then bit her lower lips as if she was holding herself to show a smile.

"So, you are jealous?" She looked upon him and her eyes dazzled gorgeously. Kraig gulped from her affectionate and pleased reaction. "Why?" Her concealed smile revealed and she seemed so happy by the notion he was getting possessive with some strangers.

"Can't I?" That was all he could say and simply damp his lips to her nose and bit it and kissed it. "Can't I get jealous that someone could get to see you smile? That is all mine?" He said and pecked her lips before standing up straight. "It's just strange that you never smile with anyone before. It's making me feel threatened."

"Then, I will only smile at you." She murmured and that made him chuckle.

"You're so good at handling your jealous boyfriend. I wonder what would happen if you were the one who got jealous of some other girl."

"You witnessed it, Love. I could kill, remember?" He turned to look at her and he could see that there was no joke with her sentence. It was very strange because she made his heart falter.
