Chapter 80 - II
The snow fell on the statue of Nuwa, melted into water, and formed a thick layer of ice. When viewed from the sky, it looked very huge and spectacular.
Suddenly, numerous cracks appeared in the ice on Nuwa’s pottery figurine. The cracks became bigger and bigger, and slight explosions were heard one after another…
“Boom——!” With a loud noise, the entire Nuwa statue exploded, breaking into countless pieces!
The steaming crater evaporated all the snow, and the entire Wu Mountain was like a pot of boiling hot water, with billowing white mist rising. The mist condensed into thick clouds, which hung heavily on the top of Wu Mountain.
“Wow!” The rain poured down.
Everyone breathed a sigh of relief. They were saved, and Wu Mountain and Meng Mountain were completely calm.
The big banyan tree on Meng Mountain emitted a bright green light and slowly turned into a human form. Mu Rong climbed up from the ground supporting his waist and ascended to the sky with the support of two divine envoys.
“My brother…where is our emperor? Is he okay?” Mu Rong looked around and didn’t find Xie Zuo, so he asked anxiously.
Huo Yao casted his cold gaze on Mu Rong, and Mu Rong’s heart palpitated.
Huo Yao waved his hand and left without saying a word.
Mu Rong was about to catch up and ask for help when he suddenly heard Xie Zuo’s voice message: “I’m fine. If you want to survive, just stay away.”
Mu Rong stopped and looked at Huo Yao’s back worriedly. The look in the Great Thunder Deity’s eyes just now was so terrifying, he had the illusion like he was being struck by thunder.
.
Huo Yao first went to the temple of the Southern Emperor and found the body left by Xie Zuo on the Lotus Platform.
He took out the quiet bracelet and put it on Xie Zuo’s wrist.
Xie Zuo remained motionless.
Huo Yao picked him up and said, “Stop pretending, your eyelashes are moving.”
Xie Zuo slowly opened his eyes and looked at him blankly and innocently, “What happened? Why am I here?”
Huo Yao stared down at him.
Xie Zuo saw that his expression was cold, his lips were pursed tightly, and a vein on the side of his neck was twitching uncontrollably. He knew that Huo Yao was very angry, so he didn’t dare to pretend anymore, and honestly admitted, “I did something good this time, right?”
After a long time, Huo Yao sighed heavily, “Yes.”
Xie Zuo said again, “I didn’t mean to run out to find trouble. Mu Rong asked me to help. It was about the human life, you also know that I now occupy the position of emperor, and they are all my believers. If they all die, the sin will be blamed on me. If I don’t save them, I’m afraid the heavenly tribulation will turn into divine punishment!”
“No,” Huo Yao said decisively, “Definitely not. You haven’t done anything so heinous that deserve divine punishment.”
Huo Yao hugged him tighter and lowered his head to kiss his forehead lovingly, “No matter what you do in the future, you must tell me and stop worrying me.”
Several times in succession, as long as he left Xie Zuo’s side, something would always happen to Xie Zuo. Huo Yao wanted to lock Xie Zuo up forever and make him never leave his side!
But Huo Yao also knew that Xie Zuo was like a spontaneous and free wind, never willing to be restrained. Although they loved each other, they were always independent individuals.
Xie Zuo did nothing wrong this time. He was the emperor of the Southern Kingdom. It was his unshakable responsibility to go to rescue the believers when they were in trouble.
But every time he encountered something, he always sacrificed himself regardless of the cost to achieve his goals. When he was in Beiyuan Mountain, in order to save Lu Xiaopang, he used his body as bait and was bitten by a pack of wolves; in order to get rid of the plague in the southern country, he jumped into the Wu Mountain furnace without saying a word; this time, in order to save the mortals trapped in the mountains, and in order not to harm the deities of the Southern Kingdom, he used his body to block the lava.
Deities were enshrined by mortals, enjoyed the incense, merits and sacrifice from mortals. They had to give back to ensure the happiness and safety of their believers. This was the obligation of deities, and this had always been Huo Yao’s belief.
However, seeing Xie Zuo put himself in danger again and again, Huo Yao would rather he didn’t care about anything and just stayed by his side!
Returning to the abyss, Xie Zuo told Huo Yao what happened that day in detail, “The riot in Wu Mountain and Meng Mountain is unreasonable. I had obviously promised them and they had calmed down. How could they suddenly be angered?”
Xie Zuo thought about everything that happened that day, “I always feel a little weird, but I can’t figure out what’s wrong. I’ll ask Mu Rong to catch Man Yue and Qing Cha after a while to see if there is anything else wrong with them gathering so many people.”
A dark wind blew, and the increasingly thick blood mist enveloped them.
Xie Zuo followed the direction of the wind and saw the dark clouds above his head. That was a sign of his impending tribulation, and it had been entrenched there for many days.
Huo Yao also looked at the heavy black clouds, looking beyond the clouds to higher places.
The answer was ready to come out: all this was for Xie Zuo!
