Chapter 52 - II
Xie Zuo exchanged cups with relatives, friends, and civil and military officials in the vestibule. It wasn’t until midnight that he was half-carried back by Mu Rong.
Xie Zuo had a good drinking capacity, but he couldn’t stand the crowd of people coming to toast him, and he was getting drunk right now. He looked at the red cloth on the eaves and suddenly shouted, “Where is Huo Yao? Why isn’t he coming?”
“My good ancestor!” Mu Rong immediately covered his mouth, “Please keep your voice down, don’t let people hear it!”
Xie Zuo broke away from him, hugged a pillar, and refused to leave. “That’s not my bridal chamber, I don’t want to go… If he doesn’t come, I, I’ll go find him.”
Mu Rong had to coax him. He said, “He’s here. He’s waiting for you inside.”
“Really?” Xie Zuo’s eyes lit up.
“Really!”
Xie Zuo then let go of his hand and continued walking to the East Palace with Mu Rong’s support.
As soon as he crossed the threshold of the East Palace, Xie Zuo seemed to pass through a layer of cool water, and he suddenly woke up.
Xie Zuo stretched out his hand to touch the door. “Who set up the barrier? Why would they do this?”
Mu Rong pushed him away. “Why, isn’t it all for you.”
Xie Zuo was confused and followed Mu Rong inside and bumped into Princess Lin. Xie Zuo opened his eyes wide, “Why did you run out and still wearing men’s clothes?”
It was strange, Princess Lin was welcomed in by him personally in the bride’s wedding clothes early in the morning, but he was here with no disguise. Didn’t those old ladies realize that the bride was missing?
Princess Lin smiled and bowed to Xie Zuo: “Congratulations to Brother Ah Yun for getting such a beautiful marriage. I wish you a happy marriage and a son soon!”
“Huh?” Xie Zuo was confused and pushed by Mu Rong and Princess Lin to enter the inner room.
The old ladies and eunuchs who were supposed to be serving were still there, but they all had sleepwalking expressions on their faces. Xie Zuo knew at a glance that they were all trapped in an illusion. At this moment, on his large and gorgeous wedding bed, a familiar figure was sitting straight with a sword. The man was dressed in red robes and had a shining white peacock belt around his waist.
Well, he still wore a red veil.
Xie Zuo understood immediately, his heart beating wildly, his cheeks flushed with excitement and a trace of shyness. He almost walked to the bedside with hands and feet, stared at the man through the red veil for a long time, and sat down next to him carefully.
Princess Lin unceremoniously took the wedding scale from an old woman’s hand, handed it to Xie Zuo with both hands, and sang in a serious tone: “Please let the groom show favor to the bride!”
Xie Zuo held the wedding scale tightly and tried to steady his arm to slowly lift the red veil.
Huo Yao lowered his eyes and looked at him with complicated eyes.
Xie Zuo was about to speak, but was immediately stopped by Princess Lin, “Drink a glass of wine first, and then you can speak after finishing it.”
Mu Rong brought over the filled Dragon Phoenix wine glass, half-knelt in front of them, and sincerely blessed them: “Brother, I wish you and General Huo a happy marriage.”
Xie Zuo’s eyes were hot, wow, this damn bridal chamber ceremony was really touching.
He and Huo Yao reached out to pick up the wine glasses at the same time, hooked their arms, looked at each other deeply, and drank the wine in one gulp amid the blessings of Mu Rong and Princess Lin.
.
Xie Zuo couldn’t wait to ask: “What’s going on?” He remembered clearly that the person he picked up in the morning was obviously Princess Lin, but how could he become Huo Yao at night.
Under the candlelight, Huo Yao’s face turned a little red, and he remained silent.
Princess Lin couldn’t help it anymore and said proudly, “The one who you married from beginning to end today was General Huo! This is all my credit. I taught General Huo the bone shrinking technique and personally disguised him as me. But the illusion barrier here was set up by General Huo himself.” Princess Lin smiled evilly, “Well, you can’t let General Huo have my face when you are having sex in the bridal chamber.”
“Pfft—!” Xie Zuo couldn’t hold it back and burst out laughing. He never expected that Huo Yao would dress up as Princess Lin. No wonder he was particularly good to Princess Lin today.
Mu Rong and Princess Lin looked at each other and consciously called the group of old ladies and eunuchs out.
Xie Zuo and Huo Yao were the only two people left in the wedding room.
The smile on Xie Zuo’s face slowly faded. He was unexpectedly embarrassed and lowered his head. He didn’t know what to say for a while.
They had been with each other countless times, seen each other naked numerous times. But sitting together in wedding clothes made Xie Zuo a little shy.
Huo Yao stretched out his hand, put his arm around his shoulders, took him into his arms, and sighed helplessly, “Although it’s a little upside down, it’s finally what I wanted. We have officially sacrificed to heaven and earth, paid homage to our parents, and were witnessed by relatives and friends. It’s official. We are husband and wife.”
Xie Zuo bit the side of his neck excitedly, “Yes, I am the husband and you are the wife!”
Huo Yao never argued with him about useless things. He raised his hand and all the candle lights were extinguished, and the bed curtains slowly put down to start enjoying the wedding night.
