Who is Playing the Love Development Game in Gundam

Chapter 204: Chapter 204: The Rejected Man

As dusk settled, the starlight cast a silvery glow over the vast desert, illuminating a grand, circus-like tent standing silently on a vast expanse of silver sand.

Around the tent, several mobile suits stood guard, while inside, the tent was alive with the murmur of conversations, the clinking of glasses, and a mysterious yet lively atmosphere.

Now masked with fabric to conceal their faces, four figures emerged from two highly conspicuous mobile suits.

"Is it really okay to just leave them here?" Shi He asked, casting a worried glance at the two state-of-the-art ZAFT mobile suits behind them.

"Don't worry. With He Kui's electronic locks, they're practically impenetrable," Andrew assured her. "Besides, there are guards here, and this."

Andrew took out two desert-colored camouflage tarps for extra concealment, just as a spiky-haired figure suddenly popped up nearby, sticking to He Kui's Gat-X like someone starved and desperate for a bite to eat.

The three companions turned to Andrew with a questioning look.

Andrew sighed, unable to hide his exasperation, as the figure, noticing them, eagerly approached.

"Are these mobile suits yours?" the stranger asked enthusiastically.

"They are, Rau. And it's good timing to see you here," Andrew said, stepping forward and removing his scarf.

"Commander Andrew! What brings you here?" Rau asked, a wide grin spreading across his face.

"A journey filled with complications," Andrew replied with a chuckle, steering the conversation to more pressing matters. "Any updates on Victoria Base?"

"They just repelled an Earth Alliance assault. Things are tense since they say the Alliance has MS now," Rau replied bluntly.

Listening to their exchange, He Kui also stepped forward, feeling the time was right to introduce himself. "And you are…?"

"This is Rau Le Creuset, a core member of the Junk Guild," Andrew explained. "We met back when I returned to PLANT."

"A core member, really? That's a bit much," Rau said, grinning sheepishly, though clearly pleased with the recognition.

"You're just in time, Rau," Andrew continued. "We need repairs and resupply for these two suits, and do you have a ship?"

"Of course!" Rau's eyes sparkled as he gazed at the suits, visibly excited. "But we're about to attend the auction here first. Care to join us?"

Rau's eyes lingered longingly on the big tent in the distance.

"I hear they're auctioning new mobile suit parts," he said, eyes gleaming.

"New mobile suit parts?" He Kui raised an eyebrow.

"Yes, parts from Orb's four prototype machines. There's even a Baku head armed with a beam saber, just like yours! And they've got specialized recon armor with upgraded sensors and terrain detectors."

The Baku head and enhanced recon equipment immediately piqued He Kui's interest. Given his knowledge, such advanced gear was exclusive to special operations units.

These items being up for auction suggested some intelligence worth recovering. After a brief exchange of glances with Andrew, He Kui nodded.

"Alright, we'll go with you," he agreed.

"But first, let's get the mobile suits secured in your ship," Andrew interjected with a resigned smile.

"Right this way, then!" Rau eagerly led them toward his ship, clearly thrilled by their interest.

Behind him, a man and woman, seemingly his crewmates, exchanged apologetic glances.

"Our apologies for Rau skipping out on maintenance duties," the man said.

"Not a problem," Andrew waved it off, slipping his scarf back into place.

With a casual shrug, He Kui joined Andrew, and they made their way to Rau's modified ZAFT desert battleship. The vessel had minimal armaments but was fitted with mechanical arms for Junk Guild work.

Once the suits were securely stored, they all headed toward the auction. The auction area itself was plain and lacked seating, with most attendees standing around.

As they entered, He Kui noticed some individuals discreetly hiding their identities with scarves or masks, while others brazenly displayed their faces.

"That person over there is one of the team leaders from Actaeon Industries," He Kui remarked, indicating the group closest to the auction stage.

"Yeah, and there are quite a few soldiers scattered around too," Andrew added, nodding in agreement.

"Looks like that Baku head might have something more valuable hidden inside," He Kui observed thoughtfully.

All the while, he discreetly deployed five Haro units around the group's perimeter.

"Haro units?" Rau exclaimed, eyes wide with fascination.

"Yes, just a little gadget," He Kui replied with a modest shrug.

"I know who you are!" Rau's eyes sparkled with excitement as he stared at He Kui, practically vibrating with enthusiasm.

Before Rau could say more, He Kui swiftly covered his mouth. "Let's keep that to ourselves for now," he murmured.

After Rau nodded, clearly calmed, He Kui let him go.

"Sorry, but I've read so much about your work," Rau whispered, undeterred by the earlier rebuke. "The mining designs, the propulsion systems—even your miniaturized beam weapons! Absolutely groundbreaking!"

"Thank you," He Kui replied quietly, smiling under his scarf. It was truly satisfying to receive praise from one of the most skilled engineers in this world.

He Kui's attention then shifted to the small box Rau was carrying. "Is that an AI system?"

"Indeed. Technically, it's a quantum computer," Rau confirmed proudly.

"Mind if I take a closer look?" He Kui inquired, visibly intrigued.

"Sorry, but you'd have to ask him yourself," Rau replied, clutching the box tightly.

"Xiao Ba? How about coming with me for a bit?" He Kui asked with a friendly tone, eyebrows arched in a playful invitation.

"Not a chance," a cheeky reply flashed on the screen.

"Well, worth a try," He Kui conceded with a shrug, his curiosity far from satisfied but not discouraged. There would be other opportunities.
