Who hid My Corpse!

Chapter 464: 76 Grand Ceremony Begins

"So, after that, she's basically never left her dorm?" The Dean looked at the staff member reporting on Hewinia's whereabouts. "And hasn't joined any orchestra again?"

"Yes." The staff nodded, "For the past half month, she has completely stayed in the dormitory other than occasionally going to the library to borrow books. And even then, she only leaves to borrow books, with round trips taking less than an hour. We've kept her under continuous surveillance during these times, ensuring she hasn't left our sight."

The Dean asked again, "What kind of books did she borrow?"

"We've already organized it; here is the book list." The staff handed over the list taken from the library. "She has at least five library cards in her possession, so she borrows a lot of books at once, but we are sure none were missed."

"Five library cards?"

"Correct, they were lent to her by other students." The staff hesitated, "Dean, does this violate the school regulations?"

The Dean didn't answer immediately but squinted at the book list in his hand.

The list contained very ordinary books, some theoretical works by scholars and masters, some explanations of music scores, and even some fairy tales written by poets on a whim.

Judging from the book list alone, it only reveals that the borrower is someone who enjoys reading; there's no discernible bias.

... Should it be said this is unexpected, or expected?

The reason one might call it unexpected is that the Dean already knew that Cesar, who had once dominated in the Three Colleges, initially built his foundation by accessing a series of forbidden books using the librarian's privilege.

Though the Dean isn't sure whether Hewinia is actually Cesar, he will definitely consider this possibility, especially since the First Academy has more diverse and often forbidden books than the Three Colleges. If Hewinia wanted, she could acquire even more secret knowledge.

But if she was so blatant, could she still be alive now? Could the Principal still hold her in high regard?

At least, the Dean doesn't believe so.

Thus, when seeing this book list, the Dean's heart didn't harbor much surprise.

"This does not violate school rules." He said indifferently, "Her ability to borrow so many library cards is her skill, and enjoying reading is not a crime... Is there anything else?"

"Yes, there are also the letters she sends out." The staff said, "She has two owls, one sending letters home and one to a Player named Ogg. These letters were intercepted for review both upon sending and receiving, here for your review."

The staff handed over a thick stack of papers.

The Dean took the stack and quickly read through them.

The staff began explaining simultaneously, "Most of the letters home talk about family trifles; apart from those uninspired greetings, the current focus of these letters revolves around Miss Hewinia's withdrawal from the gala. Miss Hewinia's father is very displeased with her decision, presumably due to the pressure from the Lawrence Family. However, Miss Hewinia remains adamant, leading her father to gradually concede."

The staff paused.

"As for the letters addressed to that Player named Ogg, they resemble friendly chats. I investigated this Ogg at the Three Colleges; he is a student who failed Ascension and was forced to withdraw. Miss Hewinia seems to be using the knowledge she's acquired to help Ogg restore his music score, and she uses lines from fairy tales to encourage him not to give up, for which Ogg is very grateful."

After the staff's explanation, the Dean skimmed through all the letters.

As the staff mentioned, nothing seems amiss in these letters from the surface.

She merely appears to be a kind-hearted Golden Note young lady with strong personal convictions.

But unfortunately,

that's precisely the greatest flaw.

Because Raul, as the Dean, has seen far too many young ladies, whether they belong to the two major families in the Taichu or are secondary Nobles, none have any relation to kindness.

No relation whatsoever.

Thus, this seemingly flawless set of letters is riddled with holes in Raul's eyes.

"There's no need to monitor her letters anymore." The Dean rolled up all the letter papers, burning them with the nearby candle flame, while speaking lightly, "She's very clearly aware that her letters are under our surveillance, and these were written for us to see, merely to establish a persona."

The staff nodded.

The Dean watched the candle flame grow brighter with the letter papers as fuel, speaking softly, "She certainly knows how to stay calm."

It has been half a month since Hewinia withdrew from the Phinis orchestra.

And the gala is drawing ever closer.

In theory, at this point, she cannot join any orchestra anymore.

Phinis has already submitted the final roster, which doesn't include her.

From any perspective, she has already withdrawn from this gala and no longer appears in the public eye.

For Raul to cause trouble for Hewinia now would seem unreasonable.

But...

Raul knows this is just the calm before the storm.

He closed his eyes and began contemplating.

The staff dared not disturb him and merely stood quietly aside.

After more than ten minutes, he slowly opened his mouth, "If I remember correctly, the playing time for the lowest floor's outer piece is... tomorrow?"
