Chapter 45 Aiwass's Mother
Lily's "knife skills" were unexpectedly impressive to Aiwass.
These Moon Children didn't even realize they were dead before they scattered on the ground, sealed by the power of shadows.
Their bones and organs had burned away to ashes, leaving only pure chunks of flesh. If viewed through Aiwass's right eye, one would see a clever coating of shadow power around them. However, this shadow power didn't completely come from adaptation… some of it came from love.
—Lily had spontaneously awakened some power from the Beast's Path, which Aiwass hadn't expected.
When Selene was born, all power from the Path of Love had been carved away from Lily, even her witch vocation was cut and evolved into a Moon Witch.
But now, Lily had regained new strength!
This outcome made Aiwass very excited.
This meant that even after self-excision, it doesn't necessarily mean a complete loss of talent in that area. Perhaps due to the unique composition of the Egg Moon Manual, Lily slowly developed a new, uniquely her own "beast heart" after the Path of Love was fully excised.
No matter what, Aiwass clearly understood one thing—that even an excised self does not mean a permanent farewell. It also might be possible for new powers to arise from the void, even without a single hint of Path adaptation.
"… However," Arsene glanced at Aiwass, "I remember that only Moon Children above the Fourth Level have such 'medicinal' value, right?"
"—Wha—what?"
Upon hearing this, Mia was shocked: "Moon Children?!"
The "materials" actually belonged to Moon Children?
… Aren't Moon Children humans too? Do they have to kill each other?!
But…
Even Mia herself, after hearing the efficacy and value of Moon Children, couldn't help but swallow.
Eternal youth, erasing wrinkles… such words would surely cause anyone to lose control.
She was not like Zula, who longed to become a Moon Child. Mia always felt there couldn't be such a good thing in this world—if just getting bitten could yield such benefits, could such a simple thing actually fall to me?
Therefore, Mia believed there must be something fishy about it, and thus had no admiration or respect for Moon Children, but rather more vigilance. Like seeing a group of swindlers selling fake wine.
And now, she finally understood.
—Turns out one doesn't necessarily have to be bitten by Moon Children to stay eternally young.
Biting back at the Moon Children also works!
She couldn't help but regret. If she'd known the photo channel's stuff was this useful, she would've gotten a camera long ago.
"It's because only those above the Fourth Level are useful… so the most valuable is those three portions, not nine."
Aiwass replied: "Only three at the Fourth Level… very unfortunate, probably enough for only nine bottles of medicine.
You can hand it over to your school's alchemy teacher, explain it clearly and he'll understand. The rest, you can take to mix with werewolf blood. The smaller portions should be mixed with male werewolf blood, while the larger ones with female werewolf blood… this stuff is a kind of aphrodisiac and tonic, very effective. Because it mixes the powers of the Path of Love and the Beast's Path."
His latter words were directed at Mia.
—Naturally, the Moon Children had already infiltrated the school. Mia doing this will expose her to the Moon Children's vision. But for Mia, this is instead a good thing… it will make the Moon Children need to consider more when acting against her. Because they don't know the true relationship between Aiwass and her, it will make them more cautious and serve as a protection for her.
"I will definitely remember it well!"
Mia replied repeatedly: "When do you need it?"
"Leave three portions of the ointment for me, you can take the rest. If these days are idle, you could queue up for me — remember to find the Magic Potion Master, money is not a problem."
Aiwass said with a smile: "Remember not to open them to look. As long as they're not looked at every day, nothing will happen. I've mixed them just right… even if you shake them vigorously, there's a high chance nothing bizarre will merge out."
He handed the icebox to the curious Mia, then Aiwass and Arsene left the girls' dormitory together. Lily then flowed back into Aiwass's shadow.
The girls' dormitory late at night wasn't as lively as noon. Perhaps it was because tomorrow was Monday.
Except for the occasional "round of game" breathing sounds from certain rooms, and some rooms with no one inside… other kids were relatively normal.
The old nun who usually guarded the door was gone, replaced by two men in military uniforms with a heroic demeanor.
Seeing this, Aiwass squinted slightly.
"Excuse me…"
Knowing what Aiwass wanted to ask, Arsene stepped forward directly: "Are you here… waiting for someone?"
"Yes."
One of them turned around, glanced at Arsene.
He spoke in a deep voice: "We're waiting for you, sir. Could you go with us now?"
Undoubtedly, these two should be from the Duke of Vandome.
After all, the Duke's responsibility is to manage the army.
"I understand," Arsene said, pointing at Aiwass, "Can I take my friend along?"
"Sure."
The other answered without hesitation, as if knowing Arsene would ask this.
Arsene and Aiwass exchanged a smile, understanding each other.
Once they were both seated in the carriage, Arsene lowered his voice to Aiwass: "It's just a change in form, not substance."
"How come?"
"I too used to sit in such a carriage, being captured all the way to the Duke's Mansion…"
"You were also invited this way?"
"It's much better now than before, back then I was captured…"
While Arsene and Aiwass complained about his past, before long the carriage stopped.
"We've arrived, Aiwass."
Arsene glanced outside and said: "My home is right here."
The Duke of Vandome was already near here, which is why he could dispatch people to block their way shortly after the incident.
Then Aiwass saw, although they both wore military uniforms, neither had military ranks. This was a typical indication of job-switching — they were not professional Iris Soldiers, but the Duke's private army!
A large number of soldiers had unknowingly lined up at the entrance.
They stood with straight backs, guarding the place. Wearing armor, carrying rifles behind them.
"Do you usually have so many people at the door of your house?"
Aiwass asked in a relaxed tone.
"There were none when I left in the morning…"
Arsene muttered softly. He was a bit nervous.
But soon, the nervous one became Aiwass.
Beyond the soldiers, stood a person at the entrance.
That was his… mother.
