Yes, it will worsen till chapter 14. Tune in!
"Miss Seraphine? "
"O-Oh," she flinched, pulled back to reality.
"Again day dreaming are we?" said her grandma quietly with a smile. Seraphine smiled back then looked at the priest again.
His hand was wrapped tightly around hers, possessive yet steady, and his silver-grey eyes locked onto hers in a fierce, unblinking stare that sent a jolt through her chest and a chill down her spine while her heart was filled with fearless excitement.
"Y-yes, I do," she replied quickly, her voice barely above a whisper.
Lucien smirked, satisfied.
The priest gave a slow, satisfied nod. "Then I now pronounce you husband and wife. May you live a long and—"
CRASH!
Shards of glass rained down like icy confetti, scattering across the pristine white marble floor as a window exploded with a deafening crack. Gasps erupted from the crowd. The ballroom's dreamy silence shattered along with the window. Heads whipped toward the chaos, eyes wide with disbelief. From the shadows stepped a cloaked figure, tall and unwavering, his presence as chilling as the steel he held. He moved forward slowly, deliberately, raising a gun with terrifying calm—its dark barrel aimed with deadly precision at Lucien's chest.
"Step away," the man commanded, his voice like gravel. "She was never yours to claim."
Seraphine froze. Her entire body tensed, heart hammering wildly against her ribcage as her fingers stiffened in her husband's hands. Lucien's grip tightened protectively. He didn't flinch. Not even an inch, just merely darted his eyes across the room to scan the intruder ruining the best moment of his life.
"You're late," he said coldly, without taking his eyes off the uninvited guest.
"As if I'd ever be late to save her," the cloaked man snapped, taking one bold step forward. "Hand her over. Now." 2 men both dressed black stood behind him, also stepped forwards guns raised, loaded fully.
"Never," Lucien growled, his jaw clenched as he whistled speedily. Men in black with guns creeped forward from all corners of the hall.
Then, with urgency slipping into his voice, he turned to his bride. "I'm sorry. You need to leave—now. Promise me you'll do exactly what Zacchary says. Promise?" he held out his pinky for her. And she made her wrap around his declaring the oath. He continued, "Don't try to run. Don't look back, because its not worth the shot at all!" Before she could even speak a single word, he leaned down and pressed a trembling kiss to her forehead—quick, almost desperate with a hint of sadness. "I promise I'll explain everything… just not yet. Take care, my angel." And with that, he gently placed her hand into Zacchary's, who had appeared at his side like a ghost in black.
"Zacchary—go! Vade Weapons, it's your call now. Align the formation. Get her to the lair. Move everyone!"
People had already started running but his parents were still standing fixed in their place. "Mother, Father move, please!"
CRACK! CRACK!
Gunshots tore through the chaos. Screams echoed from every corner of the ballroom. Guests scrambled, panicked.
Their bodies landed with a muted thud that seemed to pause time.
The cloaked figure screamed, "Nooooo!!! Who told you idiots to shoot?" He screamed at the wither 2 beside him, before running towards the couple, but Lucien beat him to it.
"Mr. and Mrs. Castellano, please." he wailed next to the couples bodies held up by Lucien. They were hand in hand. Lifeless.
Death had claimed them… but their love remained intact in their final moment. Still hand in hand, even in death—as if love itself refused to let go.
Because true love never dies.
Never ever in history.
