Chapter 1125 - 1125: Section 1126: Dark Light
Chapter 1125: Section 1126: Dark Light
Soon, the Phantom Shadow arrived outside of the rain clouds.
Accompanied by the murmur of the Demon Language, the Phantom Shadow revealed its form.
It was a diminutive demon, nearly the height of a human child. However, if judged by human standards of beauty, its visage was nowhere near as adorable as that of a human child… Its face, covered in protruding veins, was horrifying to behold, and its eyes, like those of a snake, gave off an icy and forbidding feeling when met directly.
Behind it were fluttering wings; had they been pure white, they might have resembled those of the holy messengers touted by certain churches. However, its wings were as gray and dark as its skin, occasionally marked by blood-red patterns, a classic example of heretical style.
“Lady Nitotipu, I have a message to report,” the small demon conveyed a message to the inside of the rain cloud.
Soon, Nitotipu’s voice came from within the rain clouds, “So it’s a Shadow Demon, who sent you?”
“It was Lord Yadasai,” the Shadow Demon said.
Within the rain clouds, Nitotipu, at the center, raised an eyebrow: Yadasai had just gone to the Void Tower, so why was a message being sent already?
Nitotipu raised her head to look toward the center area, which she had not paid attention to before, but now she noticed something was amiss. Centered around the Void Tower, there was a hazy dark light appearing within a few hundred meters radius.
Nitotipu wanted to see what was happening inside the light and shadow, but found she couldn’t investigate.
Could something have happened to the Void Tower? A bad feeling suddenly rose in Nitotipu’s heart.
“Come in,” said Nitotipu’s voice to the Shadow Demon.
The Shadow Demon immediately turned into a Phantom Shadow and slipped into the rain cloud. After the Shadow Demon entered the rain cloud, it heard a voice: “Your invisibility won’t work here, come out on your own.”
The Shadow Demon immediately revealed its form, speaking somewhat fearfully, “Lady Nitotipu, it was just a subconscious action, no offense intended.”
Nitotipu did not say much more; the Shadow Demon was a scout-type lesser demon used for reconnaissance. It not only turned invisible actively but would also turn invisible passively in darkness, so the Shadow Demon’s words were not wrong.
“Enough chit-chat, why would Yadasai send you to relay a message? Why didn’t it send the message back itself?” Komodo’s narrow eyes, filled with fiery light, glared menacingly at the Shadow Demon.
The Shadow Demon originally kept sneaking glances at the two Blood Cocoons behind it, but startled by Komodo’s fierce gaze, it immediately lowered its head, daring not to make any further moves: “Lord Yadasai went to the Shadow Mist Area, where messages cannot be relayed, so it sent me instead.”
“The Shadow Mist Area you speak of, is it the dark light area outside the Void Tower?” asked Nitotipu.
The Shadow Demon nodded.
“When did this Shadow Mist Area appear? And who created it?”
“Not long after Lady Nitotipu left for the skies, the Shadow Mist Area appeared without warning. We’re still uncertain who’s responsible, but the mist initially came out from the Void Tower. So, we suspect it might be the work of Lord Jupiter.” The Shadow Demon paused, then continued, “As soon as the Shadow Mist Area appeared, many demons went in to investigate but none have returned, their fate unknown. Moreover, it’s like a completely isolated space from the outside world, where no sound can be heard and there’s no movement; one can only vaguely see shadows flitting within, hence the name Shadow Mist Area.”
Nitotipu listened to the Shadow Demon’s account with a furrowed brow, contemplating that the Shadow Mist Area actually spread from the Void Tower… Could it really be related to that lummox?
“What message did Yadasai want you to deliver?”
“It told me to inform you that the seals in the Void Tower’s chamber have been broken,” the Shadow Demon said, and in an instant, the air within the rain cloud grew still. It sneakily raised its head to look and saw that the expressions of both Nitotipu and Komodo had changed.
Could there be something odd about the Void Tower’s underground chamber? The Shadow Demon wondered.
“Is that all it said?” Nitotipu’s voice seemed stable but carried an inexplicable sense of oppression.
“Yes, after Lord Yadasai said that, it then ordered other demons to obstruct the humans’ advances, and it went into the Shadow Mist Area itself.”
Nitotipu nodded, calmly stating, “Understood, you can go back.”
After the Shadow Demon left the rain cloud, Nitotipu and Komodo remained silent for a long while, before Nitotipu finally spoke with a troubled expression, “It seems that this so-called Shadow Mist Area might have appeared after the chamber’s seals were broken… It’s probably the defensive mechanism recorded in the mural at the top level.”
“Yadasai once received revelations from the Condensed Abyssal Eye; it understands the situation of the chamber better than we do. Since it said as much, the chamber must have already been breached,” Komodo added.
Nitotipu was beginning to understand why she had felt an ominous premonition earlier.
If it indeed was the Void Tower’s chamber that had been opened, that would be terribly bad news… Although they had never been to the chamber themselves, there were murals left by the Condensed Abyssal Eye at the top level of the Void Tower that recorded it clearly—the chamber held the central hub for all the inscriptions of the Void Tower.
The inscriptions of the Void Tower not only controlled the tower itself but also affected the entire realm of Lassudral. This included the Spatial Energy stabilization device that Jupiter had previously manipulated, which was in actuality also a part of the inscriptions.
Should there be a problem with this central hub, not just the Void Tower but the entire Lassudral could potentially suffer catastrophic damage.
That was why the expression on Nitotipu’s face had become so grave.
Even Komodo, who was normally never kind to Nitotipu, was now seriously engaging with her.
Nitotipu, “Apart from the seven seats of us, no other demons should be able to break the seal of the underground chamber.”
Komodo looked at Nitotipu, “Do you mean, Jupiter did this?”
“Only Jupiter could do this,” Nitotipu said. The seal of the underground chamber was created by the Cruel Scholar; apart from the great demons certified by the Void Tower, no one else, not even Ye, who is currently in a quasi-lord state, could break the seal of the underground chamber.
“That’s true, but why would that big oaf Jupiter be interested in the underground chamber?”
Nitotipu’s eyes darkened, “Maybe someone lured it… You know, once that oaf gets a craving, anything is possible.”
…
Floating ice had now reached the outskirts of the core area, where dense swarms of demons were deploying, and the battle was still ongoing and stalemated.
In the center of the core area, outside the Shadow Mist, a giant demon was halted in place. Sitting on the giant demon’s shoulder was a seductively shaped Pannas Charm Demon, its jade-like body laid out, revealing pale and long legs, its slender hand gently touching the demon’s ear.
This succubus was none other than Nya.
“Did Yadasai also go in?” After a soft giggle, Nya’s eyes held inquiry, “The Void Tower has never shown such a transmutation before; what’s happening this time?”
The giant demon emitted a deep, resonant hum that sent nearby dust flying, “It seems I heard a Shadow Demon say that the seal of the underground chamber was broken.”
The underground chamber of the Void Tower? Nya had an affair with Yadasai, yet she had never shown any interest in the Void Tower, hence had never inquired about it. It was only now that she learned the Void Tower had an underground chamber.
Who broke the seal of the underground chamber, and what impact would that have? Nya narrowed her eyes and silently assessed the situation.
At that moment, the giant demon suddenly said, “Nya, it seems I heard a sound of wind?”
Nya looked up into the sky. With the naked eye, nothing was visible, but Nya could feel an inexplicable increase of wind elements in the air.
Nya curled her lips into an alluring smile, “Indeed, it is the sound of wind, but it comes from an illusory wind.”
With that, Nya cast a flirtatious glance at the whiff of wind in the sky.
Meanwhile, at the yard of the Misty Cabin in the southern suburbs, Angel’s eye twitched.
“Nya seems to have noticed the shop owner; huh, she’s throwing a come-hither look at the shop owner,” Canaan pointed out, referring to the shifting Illusionary Realm in the yard.
“She doesn’t know that the wind contains my consciousness, so she must be trying to seduce Lord Fafnir…” Angel turned to look at Fafnir, but upon receiving Fafnir’s indifferent gaze, Angel quickly corrected himself, “Yes, she is throwing me that look.”
As for the floating ice that had moved away from the rainy clouds, Fafnir, too, was controlling the wind to follow the ice.
It even passed the ice, arriving at the core area first.
That’s what led to the previous scene.
“Speaking of which, Nya and this giant demon seem more than casual. Looks like Yadasai got some green over his head,” Angel looked back at the Illusionary Realm, where Nya was stretching out her tongue, licking the giant demon’s earlobe. The giant demon appeared calm, but its dark face inexplicably flushed red.
Canaan didn’t understand Angel’s meaning, but he didn’t pay it much mind, “The giant demon is called Gruda. I’ve heard a rumor that when Nya first came to Lassudral, she arrived with Gruda. Their relationship is quite mysterious, but given their size disparity, it shouldn’t be anything special.”
“There wasn’t anything in the past, but that may not be true for the future,” Angel recalled the size of Nya in her awakened state, which was not much different from that of the giant demon… He had been wondering why a succubus’s awakening would develop physically. Now, it seems there might be some trickery involved.
Angel’s gaze moved away from Nya and the giant demon Gruda; or rather, it was involuntarily moved away.
Because Fafnir was manipulating that strand of wind and had it flying high, circling the Shadow Mist Area.
“When did this dark light Protective Cover appear around the Void Tower? Why haven’t I seen it before?” Just like most other demons, Canaan had never entered the Void Tower, but at least he had passed it before.
Angel, on the other hand, was seeing the Void Tower this close for the first time; at first, he thought this was normal. Now, hearing Canaan, he focused his attention on the Shadow Mist Area outside the Void Tower.
The so-called Shadow Mist Area was actually a range covered in dark light.
From a distance, it didn’t seem unusual. At least, when Angel looked from the yard in the direction of the Void Tower, he didn’t notice any difference from before.
But upon close observation, the details became apparent.
