Chapter 5: Chapter 5 The Chaos Space Marines

On impact was enough to shake the earth, raising up ashes all over the sky. A dozen drop pods were like ancient stone towers, deeply embedded in the charred earth.

The air pressure valve installed on the drop capsule started automatically, and the hatch quickly dropped down with a hissing sound of air. Led by the Primarch, the fully armed Astartes officially set foot on this barren death world.

Ashes all over the sky, murderous winds, lifeless earth, the suffocating angel of death...

Such a scene is as shocking as an epic battle in an oil painting.

Gawain and the Sons of Fire Dragon's destination was the ruins of a hive city six kilometers away from the landing point.

Before carrying out the orbital drop, the Salamander Librarians used their powerful psychic powers to glimpse a corner of the future through the crazy warp.

And in the future seen by the think tank, the alien creation [Hand of Darkness] is hidden deep in the ruins.

Six kilometers might be a long distance, but to the Emperor's Angels of Death, it was but a fleeting moment.

After a short forced march, the Primarch and the Sons of the Fire Dragon arrived at the location that the Librarian had seen in the psychic prophecy.

It was a ruin covered in ashes, or it would be more accurate to describe it as the "remains of a hive city."

Three thousand years ago, when this planet had not yet betrayed the glory of the Golden Throne, this hive city was home to more than 1.5 billion imperial citizens.

But with the betrayal of the planetary governor, the once prosperous hive city has long since become a footnote in history. If it weren't for the Hand of Darkness, no one would ever set foot here again.

The Cogito system on the Astartes' arm stores all the information about this hive city. But today, thousands of years later, most of the information has become meaningless garbage.

The only thing the Sons of Fire Dragon can be sure of is that they are now in the planting section of the hive city. If they move forward another three kilometers, they will reach the real entrance to the hive city.

As they continued to advance towards the entrance of the hive, they saw many complicated footprints. According to the think tank, he felt the breath of chaos from these footprints.

There was no doubt that these footprints belonged to the Astartes of the Chaos Legion.

"Be alert!" Gawain drew out the standard chain sword from behind him, "We are very close to the enemy. In the name of the Emperor, the traitors must pay for their actions!"

"For the great Emperor!" the sons of the Fire Dragon responded in unison.

At this moment, the Salamander warrior on guard in the distance suddenly warned everyone. A moment later, the sound of footsteps came from the ruins in the distance.

Gawain raised his head warily and looked into the distance.

Beyond the exposed steel plates and cement, at the end of the sight, a squad of Chaos Space Marines, covered in pollution and mutations, were heading towards the direction of the Sons of Fire Dragon.

Judging from the behavior of these traitors, they seemed unaware of the existence of the Primarch and the Salamanders.

Since it is an encounter battle, it will be easy to deal with.

The Salamanders warriors hid among the layers of ruins, and the roar of their bolters sounded like thunder when the betrayers passed in front of them.

The damage that the bolter could do to the traitors blessed by the gods was very limited. But even so, this round of volleys killed nearly one-fifth of the traitors.

After a moment of panic, the betrayers quickly regained their fighting stance and prepared to organize a counterattack while cursing.

But the Primarch had no intention of giving the traitors a chance to counterattack.

The Astartes sheathed their bolters at their waists, and then the roar of chainswords resounded across the land.

Gawain raised his roaring chainsword high and charged at the front of the team like a sharp knife. The Fire Dragon Sons followed the Primarch and formed an extremely compact battle formation.

The charge of the Primarchs and Astartes brought with it a suffocating force, and with every step forward the Angels of Death took, the earth trembled a little.

On the other hand, let's look at the betrayer.

In order to ensure that the operation to seize the Dark Hand was foolproof, Chaos Warmaster Abaddon sent out his trusted Astartes, who had once belonged to the Sons of Horus Legion.

As veterans who have experienced eternal wars, there should be nothing in this world that can scare them.

But it turned out that these betrayers were too naive.

Facing a charge led by their Primarch, a long-lost sense of fear once again enveloped these ancient soldiers.

That kind of fear does not come from emotion, but from some kind of instinctive impulse deep in the genes! It is a kind of fear that cannot be suppressed at all.

On the cruel battlefield, fear means weakness. In the moment when the betrayers were stunned, the sons of the fire dragon had already launched a frenzied attack.

"Traitor, go to hell and repent!" A fire lizard roared angrily.

Although ten thousand years have passed since the Horus Heresy that swept across the entire empire, the Sons of the Fire Dragon still cannot forget the tragic landing site massacre.

It was a premeditated betrayal and a massacre without any fairness or mercy.

That brutal war almost destroyed the Salamanders, and the Primarch Vulkan Vulkan was killed by his own brothers.

If the Lord of Fire Dragon had not inherited the Emperor's ability to be an "Eternal Being", Vulkan would most likely have been the first Primarch to die in the Horus Heresy.

The rage of their battle-brothers and primarchs is imprinted in the Salamanders' genes, and nothing can wash away this suffocating rage except the blood of betrayers.

War is imminent.

A Salamander warrior raised the power hammer in his hand and smashed it hard on the head of a traitor.

Purple lightning lingered on the power hammer, and terrifying power gathered in this weapon! With a dull sound, the power hammer directly smashed the traitor's helmet and shattered his head.

Fragments of helmets mixed with filthy red and white objects fell from the sky, and the blood-soaked Salamander warriors looked as terrifying as demons from hell.

"Well done." Gawain casually split a traitor in half and gave a thumbs up to the revenge of the sons of the fire dragon.

In the ten minutes or so since the battle began, more than twenty traitors have been killed by the Primarch.

These were Abaddon's trusted followers, ancient warriors who had experienced the Horus Heresy! Normally, losing a few of them would make the Chaos Warmaster sad for a long time, but now so many were gone at once.

Gawain was already looking forward to the expression on Abaddon's face.

And at that moment when the Primarch was distracted, the despicable betrayer seized the opportunity to launch a sneak attack.
