Wanda Maximoff Multiversal Harem Hunter

Chapter 10: The Shadows Beneath

The resistance hideout was alive with activity. The clinking of weapons, quiet murmurs, and the occasional spark of an electrical tool filled the air as fighters prepared for their next mission. Wanda sat cross-legged on the mat in the training room, the Chitauri Scepter resting nearby. Across from her, Eska tightened the wraps around her knuckles, her sharp blue eyes focused and unwavering.

"Ready?" Eska asked, standing up and rolling her shoulders.

Wanda hesitated, her fingers tightening around the scepter before reluctantly setting it aside. "As ready as I'll ever be. But I still don't see the point of this."

"The point," Eska said, stepping into the training circle, "is to keep you alive when your magic isn't enough. Hand-to-hand combat isn't optional, Maximoff. It's survival."

Wanda pushed herself up, crossing the circle to face Eska. "Fine. But don't hold back."

Eska smirked faintly. "I wasn't planning to."

The fight began with a flurry of motion. Eska moved first, her strikes fast and precise. Wanda reacted on instinct, dodging and blocking as best she could, but Eska's movements were fluid and practiced. Within moments, Wanda was forced back, her footing awkward as she struggled to keep up.

"You're too rigid," Eska said, ducking under a wide swing and landing a light jab to Wanda's ribs. "Your footwork is sloppy."

Wanda growled, frustration bubbling to the surface. She stepped forward, feinting a strike before attempting to sweep Eska's legs. But Eska anticipated the move, catching Wanda's ankle and flipping her onto the mat with a practiced motion.

The impact knocked the wind from Wanda's lungs. Before she could recover, Eska pinned her arm and leaned in close. "You've got power," Eska said, her tone measured but firm. "But you're reckless. If you want to survive out there, you need more than raw strength."

Wanda glared up at her, her chest heaving. "I'll get there."

Eska released her and stood, offering a hand to help her up. "Good. But you'll need more practice before you're ready."

As Wanda brushed herself off, a familiar voice whispered in her mind.

***Do not let this defeat dishearten you. Even the strongest must learn humility.**

Wanda exhaled slowly, her frustration giving way to determination. "I'm not disheartened," she muttered. "I'm pissed."

Eska chuckled, clapping her on the shoulder. "Good. Use that fire."

Later that day, as Wanda was tending to her bruises, a freed prisoner approached her and Eska. The man was thin and pale, his face gaunt from weeks of captivity. In his trembling hands was a scrap of paper, a crude map scrawled in pencil.

"This…" he began, his voice shaky. "This is where they're keeping the rest of the supplies. Weapons, intel, maybe even prisoners. It's an underground bunker in Novi Grad."

Eska frowned, taking the map and examining it closely. "A bunker this deep in the city would explain a lot. We've been running into too many patrols lately, almost like they know where we'll be."

Wanda's eyes narrowed. "You think someone's feeding them information?"

Eska hesitated, then nodded grimly. "It's possible. We've lost a lot of good people recently—too many for it to be a coincidence."

The man nodded weakly. "They... they tortured me for days, trying to make me talk. Someone is tipping them off. They know too much."

Wanda felt her grip tighten on the table's edge. "Then we need to move fast. If there's a traitor, we can't let them warn Hydra."

Eska studied the map again before looking up. "Agreed. This bunker could be the key to turning things around. But we'll need to be careful. Just the two of us—small and fast."

Wanda nodded. "Then let's go."

As night fell, Wanda and Eska approached the ruins of the old marketplace in Novi Grad. The faint sounds of the city echoed in the distance, but the area around the bunker entrance was eerily quiet. Wanda adjusted her grip on the Chitauri Scepter, her senses on high alert.

***Do not rely solely on your magic or your mind. They are strongest when combined. Trust in your instincts**

"Helpful as always," Wanda muttered under her breath.

***You are more capable than you realize. Let this mission prove it to you.**

Eska knelt by the entrance, a rusted hatch partially hidden beneath a pile of debris. She ran her fingers along the edge, her sharp eyes scanning for traps. "It's booby-trapped," she said, gesturing to a faint glint of wire. "Hydra doesn't take chances with their bunkers."

Wanda crouched beside her, her magic crackling faintly at her fingertips. "I've got this."

Eska raised an eyebrow. "Quietly?"

Wanda smirked. "Of course."

She extended her magic into the mechanism, feeling the delicate threads of energy that held the trap in place. With a careful twist, she unraveled the trigger, the lock clicking open with a soft hiss. Eska gave a low whistle of approval.

"Not bad," Eska said. "Maybe you are more than just raw power."

"I'm full of surprises," Wanda replied.

They slipped inside, the air growing colder as they descended a narrow staircase into the depths of the bunker. The walls were lined with Hydra insignias, and the faint hum of machinery echoed through the halls. Wanda's senses tingled as she reached out with her mind, brushing against the thoughts of the soldiers below.

"They're close," she whispered. "And they're expecting us."

Eska's expression darkened. "Then let's not disappoint them."
