Chapter 501 Big News
Ten days later, Reign found himself on top of the mountain. He was currently using his original body, while his angel body had already reached a Tier 2 city.
'I can't believe it took me this long to gather this many Dark Dust points,' he sighed.
Most of his time had been spent searching for corrupted hordes rather than actually killing them, which was frustrating, especially since this place should be teeming with such monsters given that he was already in a Tier 2 zone.
'Is it just me, or are the number of corrupteds getting lower?' he mused. 'Not only that, but I also feel like the miasma is thinning. Has the world just given up on destroying the human race?'
All these changes felt odd, as if something big was happening behind the scenes without his knowledge.
'I need to focus, I can't really do anything about things out of my control. What I need right now is my third body.'
With that in mind, he quickly checked his system window and purchased the Seed.
Now all he had to do was let the system do its thing and create a meta-human body for him. However—
[Meta body will take five days to create.]
"Five days? Why? It only took you a second to create my angel body." he protested.
[System: The meta-human body is far more complex than the angel body, as they are not even supposed to exist in the first place.
[At the same time, the host lacks certain materials needed to create meta-humans, so the system has to create alternatives, which increases the waiting time.]
'Forget it, it's just a couple of days,' he shrugged it off.
Instead of wasting time, he closed his eyes and transferred his soul to his second body.
Lying in bed at the hotel, he worried about Celine and Cyril, along with Wick, George, and Melissa.
He had come here to check on them, but unfortunately, none of their numbers worked when he tried to reach out.
With no idea where Lilith had placed them, he found himself with no leads at all.
"Time to head out and gather some info," he said, stretching his legs as he walked out of the hotel.
Outside, he found himself in a vibrant and immaculate city .
The skyline was dominated by towering skyscrapers, many soaring up to 120 floors, their modern glass exteriors gleaming in the sunlight
As he walked along the lively streets, the efficient public transit system caught his eye.
Bullet Trains zipped above and below the ground, their sleek designs allowing for smooth travel throughout the metropolis.
Experience new stories on empire
This scene would have amazed him on any other day, and he might have praised humanity for constructing such a magnificent city despite the constant threat of the corrupted.
However, today, the sheer size of the place felt ridiculously overwhelming, especially for someone like him who was searching for people.
It would be a different story if he could just fly around, but that would probably trigger an emergency alert for the entire city.
He was certain it would become even harder to find anyone if chaos erupted, with people running and hiding from him.
"Hey, did you hear the news?"
People gathered around an appliance store displaying TVs. The newscaster was delivering an important announcement.
Reign grew curious, so he walked closer to watch it as well.
[Breaking news! In a historic move, the Abyssal Alliance and the government have signed a groundbreaking agreement. ]
[This new deal strengthens the partnership between humans and demons, paving the way for unprecedented collaboration.
[As part of this agreement, the alliance have agreed to share their advanced teleportation technology with humanity.]
[Teleporters will be set up in Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities across the country, with this city being designated as a top priority for installation. Officials believe that these teleporters will significantly enhance quick response capabilities against the corrupted threat.]
[This partnership comes at a important time, as recent events have demonstrated the pressing need for better defense strategies. The Abyssal Alliance and the government aims to ensure that cities can quickly mobilize resources and personnel to confront any invasions.]
As the news broadcaster detailed the agreement between the Abyssal Alliance and the government, a wave of excitement washed over the crowd.
People erupted in cheer.
"Finally, we're getting the help we need!" one man shouted, pumping his fist in the air.
Others joined in, some clapping and others hugging each other in celebration.
A few even started chanting praises for the demons, their former enemies now transformed into allies.
"The Abyssal Alliance is finally saving us!" a woman called out, her face beaming with enthusiasm.
The existence of the Alliance was no longer a secret to humanity, especially after their intense search for Lilith.
As a result, the government had no choice but to present them as humanity's allies to prevent widespread panic.
'What a bunch of idiots,' Reign shook his head, amused by their reaction.
They were unaware that the ongoing crisis with the corrupteds could have been resolved long ago if the powerful Demon Gods had chosen to intervene.
'But in a way, it's genius,' he thought, watching the crowd. 'Now that they see humans rising in power, the demons rush in to claim the credit for themselves'
He felt confident that, given the current trend, humanity could resolve this problem on its own within three to five years.
With the airships already in use and the emergence of powerful Meta-humans, they had the tools needed to fight back effectively.
As for the teleportation ability, it was only a matter of time before humans developed their own versions. Reign wouldn't be surprised if prototypes were already in the works.
'The world must be crying right now. All the efforts made to bring humanity to extinction have failed again. I wonder what it will do next?'
'If it were me, I'd just send a single powerful entity to kill everything in sight. Problem solved.'
