__________

Jason witnessed all of this and was deeply shocked.

The gangs and such were really just minor incidents.

In the face of the state's violent machinery, even the most brutal gang leader was nothing more than a fish on the chopping board.

Mrs. Gao sat on a luxurious sofa in the office, her brows furrowed and her eyes slightly closed. No one could tell what she was thinking.

Ever since her phone call with Jason, an unshakable sense of fear and uneasiness had lingered in her heart. It felt as though a pair of devilish eyes from the depths of hell were constantly watching her.

To ease her panic, she had gathered all the armed forces under her control in New York at the Hay Factory.

Yet, despite this precaution, the anxiety hadn't diminished. Instead, it intensified.

She couldn't shake the question: Where was this fear coming from?

Could it be Kingpin?

No, it couldn't be him.

If Kingpin wanted to expand his influence over the Hay business, he would still need her supply chains and connections. Without her, Kingpin would never have risen to the title of New York's gang king.

This interdependence gave her leverage. Despite Kingpin's fury, he had no choice but to tolerate her.

If it wasn't Kingpin, who else could it be? Surely not Jason.

The thought of Jason made Mrs. Gao chuckle bitterly.

An extremist with brute strength but little intellect was nothing more than an ant beneath her notice. As far as she was concerned, Jason coming to the factory would be his death sentence.

But as much as she tried to dismiss him, the feeling of unease lingered. Frustrated, she rubbed her temples and decided to take a walk.

On the factory floor, workers moved in perfect harmony along the assembly lines. Each step they took contributed to producing the finest hemp imported from Mexico. Its unmatched quality had allowed Mrs. Gao to monopolize over 80% of New York's market, with demand far outstripping supply.

As she strolled, one of her trusted subordinates approached her.

"Boss," he said, his expression doubtful. "Why gather all the men just because of Jason? He's already on the run from the police. Why would he come here to die?"

It was clear he didn't take Jason seriously.

"A bit because of Jason, but not entirely," she replied calmly.

"Then who else should we be worried about?" he asked, puzzled.

Mrs. Gao opened her mouth to respond, but before she could speak, a deafening roar of helicopter blades filled the air above them.

The Vulnerable Gang

As the roar of propellers grew louder, the sharp sound of gunfire erupted outside the factory.

Mrs. Gao's henchman, a firearms expert, recognized the sound instantly.

"This isn't gang fire," he muttered grimly.

The synchronized gunfire could only mean one of two things: police or military.

Moments later, the inner door of the factory burst open.

A panicked worker stumbled in, shouting, "The police are everywhere outside! We're surrounded!"

"What?!"

The workers froze, their fear palpable as they abandoned their tasks and began panicking.

Mrs. Gao, too, was stunned. Her expression stiffened.

The factory's secrecy was paramount. It was protected by a strict security system, and even her own men entered blindfolded. How had the authorities found it?

Her mind raced.

"Jason!"

Her memory darted back to an incident years prior when Kingpin had sent Jason to negotiate with her. To her shock, Jason had memorized the driving route to the factory despite being blindfolded and restrained.

Back then, she had admired his audacity and precision, even praising him as a rare talent in the underworld. But now, that oversight was costing her dearly.

"Boss, what do we do now?" her subordinate asked anxiously.

"Don't panic!" she barked, her voice resolute. "Call for a helicopter to get me out of here. Distribute weapons to the workers and let them delay the police. Also, release the blind men to create chaos."

"But the area is surrounded," he hesitated. "Won't they shoot the helicopter down?"

"They won't dare," Mrs. Gao said confidently. "This is a residential area. If they risk shooting down a helicopter and injure civilians, they'll face federal prosecution."

Her subordinate nodded and rushed off to make arrangements.

Leaning heavily on her cane, Mrs. Gao's face darkened. She seemed to age years in that moment.

"Jason," she muttered bitterly, "Even if you win this time... next time will be different."

Outside, a police helicopter hovered above the factory. Jason peered through binoculars, assessing the chaotic scene below.

The gangsters, despite their numerical and territorial advantages, were no match for the DEA's highly trained special forces. In mere minutes, three lines of defense had been breached, leaving the factory vulnerable.

Stan, standing beside Jason, checked his watch.

"Five minutes," he said. "The Marine Corps helicopter will arrive, rappel down onto the roof, and join the assault. After that, this factory will be completely neutralized."

Stan grinned at the thought. A major victory like this would mean promotions and commendations. He imagined the additional star on his shoulder, already anticipating his rise to higher office.

Jason, however, wasn't satisfied.

"No," he said coldly. "Mrs. Gao dies by my hands."

"What?" Stan blinked. "Why not just let them handle it? We've already won."

Jason shot him a withering look. "I said I'd kill her myself."

Grumbling, Stan signaled the pilot to prepare for landing.

The police helicopter descended onto the factory's roof. Jason leapt out, gun in hand, with Stan reluctantly following, clutching a riot shield.

"Hey, why are you coming down here too?"

Stan raised his shield and said, "I was worried you might get hurt. With this, you don't have to be afraid anymore."

Kicking open the small door on the top floor of the factory, Stan stepped in first, shield in front of him, with Jason following close behind, an automatic rifle in hand.

The factory was filled with the strong, pungent scent of hemp. Stan took a deep breath, a look of mild intoxication on his face. "It smells great—top quality!"

Jason gave him a sharp kick, signaling him to stay alert.

Stan glanced around and spoke dismissively. "Don't worry, the factory's empty. Mrs. Gao sent all her men outside."

No sooner had he spoken than gunshots rang out, and several bullets struck the shield.

"Shit!" Stan cursed and quickly ducked behind the shield for cover.

No matter how tense the war situation was outside, Mrs. Gao would not be foolish enough to leave the factory completely unguarded.

She knew the police had dispatched a helicopter, so to prevent a rooftop assault by the special forces, she had strategically positioned a dozen men to lie in ambush at the top-floor exit.

Her plan was brilliant; otherwise, Stan would have been dead by now, the shield the only thing protecting him.

Jason motioned for him to move aside, then pressed the muzzle of his rifle into the gun slot on the shield, a two-centimeter-wide hole.

The shield was made of reinforced alloy on all sides, with a transparent section of high-strength bulletproof glass in the center. Through this glass, Jason could clearly see the positions of the enemy.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Gunfire erupted, and Jason returned fire with practiced precision.

With a level-six firearms proficiency, his shooting was as effortless as a professional gamer facing off against a basic AI opponent.

The gunfire subsided after a few minutes.

Stan stared in astonishment. "Oh my God! Your shooting skills are better than the special police sniper."

"Stop flattering me and check if they're all dead," Jason replied curtly.

Stan, shield still in hand, cautiously stepped out to assess the situation.

He scanned the area and found that no more gunmen were firing at them. It seemed the ambush had been neutralized.

Jason, who had been to the HiCao Factory multiple times, remembered the layout and the general direction.

He identified the path and made his way toward Mrs. Gao's office.

Without hesitation, he kicked open the wooden door, and a volley of bullets burst out.

Jason had anticipated this, and the bullets hit the shield harmlessly.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Three shots rang out, and Mrs. Gao's confidant fell to the floor, a pool of blood spreading beneath him, his eyes staring in disbelief.

Mrs. Gao sat upright on the leather sofa, her eyes fixed on her fallen subordinate as he lay dying in a pool of blood, his gaze still open.
