Chapter 183: Chapter 183: Have Breakfast

On the road to the apartment, 2B said nothing, expressionless as she walked forward.

Following beside her, 9S really couldn't hold it in anymore, and said, "2B, are you really not curious at all about what Anemone just said about drinking and partying? It really sounds very interesting, like humans."

Before 2B could react, he continued, "I know you'll say something like 'it's meaningless' again, but if it's really meaningless, why would humans do it? I think, since it exists, it must have meaning, it's just that we can't experience it."

After a moment of silence, 2B said, "Because we are just androids. We don't need to be like humans, and we're not allowed to be like humans."

"But Anemone and the others…"

9S hadn't finished speaking when he was interrupted by 2B, "They are them, we are us, it's not the same, and this is only a few androids who are like that. Also, we've arrived, stop talking."

9S had no choice but to shut his mouth, and followed behind 2B into the apartment.

However, just as they were about to go upstairs, they suddenly saw two red-haired android girls coming down from above. They had to step aside to make way for them.

And these two android girls were the twin sisters. At this time, as they were walking downstairs, they were talking.

"Really, sis, why did you drink so much last night? Not only did it delay work, but you also caused trouble for Aiden. He had to sleep on the floor all night yesterday." Popola complained to her sister.

"Mainly because I was happy! And Aiden didn't blame us." Devola said. One of her legs was injured, and her movement was inconvenient. She needed Popola's help to go downstairs, which caused their pace to be slow.

"That's because he has a good personality. If it were someone else, they would've cursed us with all kinds of vicious words." Popola sighed as she spoke, "When we go back later, those people will definitely do that."

"Whatever, let them say whatever, curse however, I don't care. Anyway, Aiden is here, if I'm in a bad mood, I'll just go find him to drink." Devola said, waving her hand forcefully.

"But always troubling him like this, it's not very nice." Popola was a bit embarrassed.

"That's why, in the future, if there's anything he needs our help with, we must help him wholeheartedly, no matter what the request is." Devola said.

"That's all we can do. But now it looks like he doesn't have such a need." Popola seemed a bit regretful.

"Don't worry, there will be such a day." Devola patted Popola's shoulder and comforted her.

As they said this, the twin sisters happened to finish the last step of the stairs. They politely said thank you to 2B and 9S who made way for them, then walked out the apartment door.

"They seem to know that guy named Aiden too, and even drank with him." Watching the twin sisters leave, 9S said to 2B.

2B didn't respond to him and walked up the stairs on her own toward the third floor.

Behind, 9S lowered his head somewhat disappointedly.

———

[Third Floor, in Front of Room 304]

Looking at the half-open door, just as 2B was about to push it open and enter, she suddenly remembered what Anemone had said, so she turned over her outstretched hand and gently knocked on the door.

"Devola? Popola? Is it you? Or have you decided to eat breakfast first before leaving?" From inside the room, Aiden's voice came.

"It's us, 2B and 9S." 2B said.

The next second, the door opened.

The one who opened the door was Aiden. Looking at the two people in front of him, he wasn't surprised. After all, Anemone had told him yesterday that 2B and 9S would come back today, so he just asked, "So early, have you eaten breakfast?"

2B, "..."

9S, "..."

Apparently, the two of them didn't know how to respond.

Realizing they couldn't follow up the conversation, Aiden smiled awkwardly, then stepped aside to let them in, and said, "So early, you probably haven't eaten. Just right, Devola and Popola left, so the breakfast prepared for them can be given to you."

"No need, we don't need to eat." 2B glanced at A2 and Yakor who were sitting beside the dining table, and said with a frown.

Hearing this, 9S showed a disappointed expression again.

"Not needing doesn't mean can't eat. I heard YoRHa models have a complete digestive system. Not using it is a bit of a waste. Just eat a bit, don't be polite." Aiden generously said to them.

2B still shook her head and refused, but seeing 9S's eager gaze beside her, she said, "9S, if you want to eat, then eat."

"What about you?" 9S asked.

"Don't mind me." 2B shook her head.

9S hesitated for a moment, but finally still sat down at the table and excitedly picked up a spoon.

Breakfast was very simple. It was a pot of thick meat soup. This was something Aiden learned from Alice's mom, Miss Amina. It just lacked some essential spices, so the taste didn't fully restore the original flavor.

But for androids, this already counted as delicious.

Watching the people at the table drinking soup, 2B sat on the sofa, carefully observing the room's arrangement.

To be honest, although androids weren't picky about the environment, 2B had to admit that the room's setup gave her a warm feeling, something she couldn't experience in her monotonously styled single bedroom at the Bunker.

Just as she was feeling a bit emotional, she suddenly heard the sound of water from the bathroom, so she looked over and asked, "You have other people here?"

"Yes, and it's someone you know." Aiden said.

"Someone… I know?" 2B looked toward the support pod beside her with confusion, but the pod gave no answer, clearly, it hadn't detected who it was.

"Who is it?" she asked.

Aiden scraped up the last bit of soup in his bowl and put it in his mouth, then said, "You'll know once she comes out."

2B had no choice but to look at the bathroom again, eyes full of confusion.

Not long after, the bathroom door opened. Wearing a maid outfit that Yakor rushed to make overnight, 11B walked out.

"11B." Seeing it was her, 2B suddenly stood up, and 9S, who was drinking soup, also put down his bowl in shock.

"You're actually still alive."

11B tugged at the collar of her clothes, it felt a bit tight. Then, hearing 2B's words, she first looked at Aiden, then said, "Yeah, I'm still alive. Surprised?"

"I thought… no, since you're still alive, why didn't you contact me, or the Bunker?" 2B stared hard at 11B and asked with confusion.

11B walked to A2's side, sat down, and said, "Because, I don't want to go back."

"So you plan to defect from the Bunker?" 2B immediately understood her meaning.

"Pretty much." 11B nodded.

2B's expression instantly turned cold, "Do you know what the consequences of defecting from the Bunker are?"

"I do. Just like A2, being hunted down by you all." 11B said.

"Since you know, why still do it?" 2B asked in confusion.

11B didn't answer this question and instead asked, "If I say so, can you let me go?"

"Impossible."

"Then I can only say there's no reason." 11B's defection was related to some Bunker secrets. She could tell Aiden and the others who had nothing to do with the Bunker, but absolutely couldn't tell 2B and the rest, or it would lead to extremely serious consequences.

"If you won't say, then I can only take you back first." Saying this, 2B waved her hand, and the White Contract appeared in her hand.

Seeing this, 11B wasn't flustered. She had backing now. She asked, "If you're going to take me, a defector, back, then why did you let A2 go last time? And after so many days, the Bunker hasn't sent anyone. You probably didn't report A2's matter either, right?"

Hearing this, 2B fell silent. She didn't know how to answer. Say it was because A2 saved her? But then it would mean she wasn't as loyal to the Bunker as imagined.

"Don't know how to explain, right, 2B? So why can't you let me go like you did A2? And if the commander learns you let A2 go, you'll also be punished, right?" 11B asked.

2B fell silent again, and her expression kept shifting, seemingly in a fierce internal struggle.

In the end, she helplessly nodded.

In fact, the Bunker didn't really pay much attention to androids defecting. Over the years, YoRHa models who defected weren't limited to just 11B… A2 was hunted for other reasons, not because of defection.

So, although 2B seemed to agree with difficulty, in reality, she didn't feel much psychological burden, she had seen many such cases.

And more importantly, she wasn't a rigid android. As long as no one reported it to the Bunker, she could completely treat 11B as a true "dead person."

And in the game, she also hid 11B's defection plan from the Bunker.

"Speaking of which, what's your mission this time? Why do you still need our assistance?"

Seeing 11B's matter temporarily resolved, Aiden asked 2B, though it was pretty much a question he already knew the answer to.

"Didn't Anemone tell you?" 2B seemed distracted. She noticed 11B helping A2 clean up the table, which made her very curious.

"She did, but I thought if it was just investigating mechanical lifeform abnormalities, there wouldn't need to be this many people?" Aiden took the cup of water Yakor handed over. It had flower petals in it, leftovers from when Yakor made soap.

"But it really is just to investigate mechanical lifeform abnormalities. No other reason." 2B lied without the slightest mental burden.

"Alright then." Aiden shrugged. He obviously didn't believe it, but he understood, sometimes 2B couldn't act of her own will.

After Aiden finished drinking the tea, and A2 and the others finished tidying up the room, the six of them, including Yakor, left the apartment together.

Since the destination this time was a desert area, full preparations had to be made before departure. So Aiden brought them to the commercial street of the Resistance Camp to stock up, buying a lot of food, drinking water, and hemostatic gel and the like.

And except for medical items like the hemostatic gel, the food and water were all for Aiden himself. He still couldn't go long without eating or drinking like androids, who in critical moments only needed to recharge or sunbathe to keep going.

Although, he did store a large amount of supplies in his storage space.

After that, the group left the resistance camp and, according to the map data provided by Anemone, arrived at a canyon that connected to the passage leading to the desert area.
