Chapter 4: Chapter 4
''Were you at Hassan's house dear?" Mrs. Ashraf asked as her daughter entered the kitchen.
Sania shook her head, ''I had an extra patient Mom.'' She replied grabbing a tiny bottle of orange juice from the fridge. She drank it all in one gulp.
Strange I never drink this fast. She took out a small bottle of water and also drank it full. Her thirst was still not gone.
''There's some caramel ice cream in the freezer if you want some.'' Her mother suggested.
Sania took out the container and began eating hastily.
''It's the coldest month of winter and you're this heated up?'' Her Mom asked astonishingly.
Sania shrugged. ''My tongue feels so dry.'' She explained.
''You'll get frost bites if you eat so fast dear.''
She always got frost bites. But this time she hadn't felt a hint of ice in her head. Suddenly, her heart started pounding at a swifter pace. She looked at her mother. Her eyes narrowed to her neck. She could feel her mother's veins. Her thirst was gone but she felt hungry, very hungry.
She set the container down on the kitchen counter and mover closer to her Mom.
''Are you sick dear?'' Her Mom asked. UNAWARE of her daughter's newly found feelings.
