Chapter 25: A New Step
[: 3rd POV :]
The moment Daniel's fingers brushed the glowing surface of the Orange Mana Vein, the world seemed to pause.
Its molten light flared and danced around his hand like liquid fire, not burning, but welcoming him.
[: Absorbing Orange Mana Vein... 1/100... 10/100... 20/100... 50/100... 100/100 :]
[: Congratulations. The Host has completed the requirements for Ranking Up. :]
And then it happened.
The entire floating island trembled as if the heavens themselves had drawn breath.
From the point of contact, a golden surge of energy erupted outward, spiralling around Daniel like divine flame.
The winds stilled.
The clouds above parted as if bowing before a rising king.
Golden tendrils of pure mana coiled and swirled into Daniel's body—mana ancient and pure, singing a silent song older than language itself.
A hum echoed through the sky, not sound, but feeling, as though even the world acknowledged what he was becoming.
And then came the light, a blinding, majestic light.
It wasn't just bright.
It was overwhelming, holy and terrifying.
It tore through the heavens like a golden pillar, stretching from the floating island to the stars above, visible from every inch of the Forbidden Continent.
It caused all of the weak monsters nearby to scatter, and some even fell to their knees.
Even monsters far beyond the horizon flinched, their instincts screaming that something had changed, that something had ascended.
And all of the monsters knew that the one who had ascended was an entirely different being.
It was a sensation they had never felt before, and it sent chills down their body.
Daniel stood in the heart of it, unmoved, his silhouette shining like that of a fallen god reclaiming his divinity.
The light poured into him, not with violence, but with reverence.
It fused into his very being.
His veins glowed beneath his skin.
His eyes burned gold and violet, the air around him warping with the weight of his presence.
Eventually, the transformation had been completed.
[: Rank Up Complete :]
[: Congratulations. The Host has achieved S-Rank :]
[: Host's Level Limit has increased from 1000 → 2000 :]
[: Congratulations, due to the host's passive skill of Endless Potential, the bonus stats effect has been multiplied by 5 times :]
The golden light pulsed once more, then burst, exploding outward like the birth of a new star.
The floating island shook violently, and for a moment, it was as if the sky bowed low.
When the light finally faded… he stood there, still.
His clothes drifted gently in the breeze, but Daniel himself did not move.
His presence alone now distorted the space around him, an echo of the surge that had just taken place.
His eyes slowly opened, burning brighter than before, sharper than before.
He wasn't just powerful anymore.
He had taken one step closer towards abomination.
Daniel took a single breath, and the mana in the area shuddered in response.
"...S-Rank," he muttered under his breath, a ghost of a smile tugging at the edge of his lips.
"Within a month… I had reached S-Rank."
Even Daniel, who rarely showed emotion, let the words linger in the air like a confession whispered to the wind.
He stood atop the highest cliff of the Sky Island, golden embers still drifting in the aftermath of his ascension.
The world below looked so far away now, like it belonged to someone else.
Like he had already left it behind.
His silver-violet eyes stared out into the horizon, not searching… just remembering.
His voice came again, low, almost disbelieving.
"I wasn't supposed to be able to do this… not this fast."
Because even Daniel couldn't ignore the reality of what he had become. Of what he had done.
He had crossed every battlefield untouched, unstoppable, unyielding.
Thousands of monsters had fallen beneath his steps that had lived for centuries all reduced to silence before him.
And he'd barely used anything.
Just ten per cent.
Just a fraction.
That was the terrifying part—not what he had done, but what he hadn't needed to do.
No one had seen the full force of his power… because he hadn't needed it. Not even once.
All the annihilated lands, the erased lives, the craters left behind in his wake—none of it required more than a sliver of his strength.
Daniel clenched his fist slowly, watching faint arcs of void energy spiral from his fingertips.
They hissed through the air, harmless to him, but deadly to everything else.
"I've only scratched the surface," he murmured, more to himself than anyone else.
There were dozens of abilities he hadn't yet unleashed. Skills born from laws, manipulation, authority—each more world-shattering than the last.
They slept within him still, untouched, untouched because they weren't needed.
That was the most terrifying realisation of all.
Not for Daniel.
But for everything else.
''Let me take a quick look at my status.'' He was curious about the bonus he'd receive for reaching the S-Rank, and the results were rather satisfying.

Daniel stared at the floating system window before him, his silver-violet eyes narrowing slightly as the numbers slowly sank in.
"…Holy shit..." he muttered under his breath.
His gaze traced the impossible figures—multipliers stacked on top of multipliers, regeneration rates that mocked mortality, stats that eclipsed entire armies in value.
He blinked once.
Then again.
But the screen didn't change.
"…318 billion HP and MP?" he echoed slowly, incredulously.
He fell silent.
The wind howled softly across the Sky Island, but Daniel stood still, caught between awe and disbelief.
"This… isn't even human anymore," he murmured, voice low with a strange mix of wonder and detachment.
His lips curled into a crooked smirk, not out of pride, but from the sheer absurdity of it.
"1.5 million base stats…who could achieve it?" He muttered.
It wasn't power anymore—it was a concept.
Something beyond what numbers were meant to hold.
His body radiated a quiet hum, reality itself pulsing gently as if bowing to his mere presence.
Daniel slowly exhaled.
"So this… is the strength of an S-Rank," he said, but even he knew that wasn't quite right.
This wasn't just S-Rank.
This was not S-Rank, this was Daniel.
This was a freak of creation—someone who had only used ten per cent of his abilities to bring monsters to their knees… and had now ascended further beyond.
And he still hadn't gone all out.
He lifted his hand, watching as faint arcs of dark-purple and golden energy wove between his fingers, threads of annihilation, destruction, devouring, and authority.
Each one is capable of rewriting a battlefield.
Each one... unused.
"I haven't even begun," he said softly.
His eyes hardened, the brief flicker of disbelief vanishing, replaced by quiet certainty.
The kind of certainty only a monster could carry.
