Unrivaled in another world

Chapter 17: System Function

[: 3rd POV :]

As Daniel prepared to move on toward his next hunt, his footsteps halted mid-stride.

A flicker of realisation passed through his eyes.

He turned his gaze skyward, voice low but firm.

"System… I just remembered something. You once mentioned you had hidden functions I could only access once I turned twelve."

There was a beat of silence before the system replied, as if it had been waiting for this moment all along.

[: That's correct, Host :]

[: The System did not activate those functions earlier to allow you time to adjust to your awakening and new powers :]

[: But now that your body and mind have stabilised, it's time. :]

Daniel narrowed his eyes, intrigued.

He already had powers that defied the logic of the world.

He was an existence shaped by chaos and calamity, fused with a Void Physique, draconic blood, and a soul-weapon bound to hunger itself.

If the system's hidden functions mirrored even a fraction of that… it would go beyond "overpowered."

[: Before activating the functions, Host should check your latest unclaimed rewards. :]

Daniel blinked. "...Rewards?"

Then it hit him.

The flood of battles, awakenings, and system messages, he had received something earlier but hadn't checked in the chaos.

[: Yes, Host. You currently have 3 Gift Packs waiting. Would you like to open them? :]

"Open them all," Daniel said without hesitation.

Within moments, a soft chime echoed through the air.

[: Congratulations. You have obtained a total of 3,000 System Points. :]

Daniel raised an eyebrow. "3,000 points, huh? Sounds like a lot—but what do they do exactly?"

He had a feeling this wasn't just some currency for cosmetic upgrades.

[: This leads us to the System's true function, Host. The System is not just an empty-assist interface—it is also an Exchange Shoo. :]

[: You may use points to exchange for anything—skills, weapons, armours, bloodlines, classes, spiritual roots, alchemy pills… and more. :]

[: Whatever the Host desires, if it exists in this world—or beyond—it can be found here for a price. :]

Daniel froze.

"…Anything?"

[: Remember the choices you were offered before reincarnating? :]

[: Those were just starting options :]

[: Now, with System Points, the Host may obtain even more Bloodlines, Traits, Innates, and Physiques. :]

His breath caught in his throat. The implications were staggering.

"You're telling me…" Daniel said slowly, eyes widening, "…that I can buy more bloodlines? More powers like the ones I already have?"

[: That's correct. And you may even gift them to others, should you choose. :]

Daniel's mind blanked for a moment.

He imagined a world where ten versions of him roamed free.

The chaos alone could shatter continents.

"...Holy Shit..," he muttered. "One of me is enough."

He collected himself, then raised his hand. "So, how do I open this 'Exchange Shop'?"

[: Simply call it, through thought or voice. :]

"Exchange Shop," Daniel commanded.

Instantly, a vast translucent panel formed before him.

It resembled the interface from his rebirth—a pristine, organised grid—but now, far more expansive.

"Spiritual Roots… Skill Rune Upgrades… Class Evolutions… Alchemy Materials… Legendary Cores..."

He scrolled through the categories, awe spreading across his face.

It was everything a cultivator, warrior, or even god could dream of.

But his eyes narrowed when he reached the Bloodline section.

He tapped into a tier that mirrored the strength of his True Cataclysm Dragon bloodline.

And what he saw stunned him.

"How many zeroes are there…?" he muttered, jaw slack.

The cost covered the entire screen for just one bloodline of similar power.

But then, he smiled.

"It makes sense," Daniel murmured.

"Something like that shouldn't be easy to obtain."

Even if he couldn't afford the high-tier options now, what he had was already more than enough to raze kingdoms.

He waved the shop window away with a flick of his hand.

"I'm not in a rush," he said, his voice low but confident. "I just want to leave this continent first."

Then he looked up again, curiosity stirring.

"But… aside from rewards, how do I earn more points?"

[: Excellent question, Host. The only method to obtain System Points beyond Gift Packs is through Missions. :]

"Missions?"

[: Yes. But they are not like quest boards. Each mission is uniquely crafted, and they are ranked by difficulty. :]

[: The categories are as follows: Easy, Medium, Hard, Hell, and EX. :]

[: Easy: 100 Points.

Medium: 1,000 Points.

Hard: 10,000 Points.

Hell: 100,000 Points.

EX: 1,000,000 Points. :]

Daniel's brows lifted. That was… a massive gap.

He crossed his arms. "So if I clear an EX mission… I get a million points?"

[: Correct. But there are two important limitations. :]

[: One: You can only take one mission at a time :]

[: Two: You cannot request another mission until the previous one is completed. :]

[: However, once a mission of any difficulty is completed, it may be repeated. So long as the Host succeeds. :]

Daniel slowly grinned.

"So theoretically… I could infinitely clear EX missions and farm a ridiculous number of points?"

[: That is correct, Host :]

[: Would the Host like to request a mission now? :]

Daniel's smile widened.

"Yeah… Give me an EX."

[: 3rd POV :]

[: Command Confirmed :]

[: Processing Mission Difficulty... 1%... 10%... 100% :]

[: EX Difficulty Mission has been chosen :]

[: Generating EX Difficulty Mission... 1%... 10%... 100% :]

[: EX Difficulty Mission has been successfully generated :]

Eventually, the mission had been generated, and Daniel squinted as the panel fully formed, revealing text that slowly etched itself into the glowing surface.

[: EX Mission :]

—The Forbidden Continent was once a land of unparalleled prosperity and divine legacy. A cradle of power and wisdom until the Gates came. Until the Invaders consumed it.

—Its skies were blackened, its soil poisoned, and its rulers erased.

—Free this continent from the grip of its defilers. Cleanse the land. Return it to what it once was.

Conditions to Clear:

Kill 100 Trillion Invaders

Kill 7 Overlords

Clear 1,000 Gates

Reward: 1,000,000 Points

Time Limit: 5 Years

Penalty: Failure will result in the complete sealing of all Host powers and System functions for 10 years

Daniel stared at the mission, and then he blinked.

"...A hundred trillion?" he muttered, eyebrows twitching in disbelief.

His lips parted in stunned silence as he re-read the conditions again and again, almost hoping it was a mistake.

'100 trillion invaders...7 Overlords...1000 gates...And if I fail… everything I have… sealed for ten years?'

He sucked in a slow, cold breath.

Everything about his powers, the system even the Exchange Shop would be sealed.

He clenched his fists instinctively.

Just imagining being helpless again, like he was before awakening, was enough to make his heart pound.

That penalty was worse than death.

"...System...you're not pulling any punches," he murmured, jaw tight while chuckling.

He didn't want to go through being helpless again, and he couldn't afford to fail the mission.

He lowered his gaze.

For a moment, doubt threatened to surface. Could he really do this? The numbers were unreal.

The scale of this mission could take years. And time… time was something he didn't want to waste.

After all, he had a time limit of 5 years.

'Could I really do it and succeed within 5 years?' He thought to himself.

However, soon, he thought of Caelira, Rika, Kiel and Manork.

All the people he left behind when he was pulled into this continent.

He missed them.

He wanted to return, to smile at them and to be welcomed back.

But most of all… he wanted to face them not as a boy who barely survived but as someone who could protect them.

Someone powerful enough to stop fate itself.

Daniel exhaled slowly, the glow of the mission panel reflecting in his eyes.

Then his lips curved into a quiet, unwavering smile.

"…This is fine."

He lifted his head, staring into the crimson horizon beyond.

"I don't know how long it'll take," he admitted, "but if this is what it takes to leave this place—and make sure no one suffers because I was too weak—"

"Then I'll kill them all."

One step at a time.

Gate by gate.

Overlord by Overlord.

Monster by monster.

This time, he wasn't afraid.

His power was real, and making up his mind, his resolve was unshaken.

And his time… was just beginning.

"Besides," he whispered, turning from the panel, "this mission is like killing two birds with one stone."

To escape this cursed land.

To gain power unlike anything before.

To return, not as a victim, but as an indomitable force.

Daniel cracked his knuckles and began walking again.

"…Let's get started."
