Chapter 60: Chapter 60: The One Who Breaks the Seal

Inside the tea room, Lin Jiufeng continued sipping his tea.

The white fox, sitting beside him, tilted her head in curiosity. "Aren't you even a little bit curious about what they're talking about?"

Lin Jiufeng shook his head. "That's Wen Xinyun's business. I don't need to know."

"But I want to know!" The white fox stared at him with wide, eager eyes.

Lin Jiufeng hesitated. "Eavesdropping on someone else's conversation… isn't that a bit improper?"

"This is concern! What if the Wen family tricks her?" The white fox argued with conviction.

Lin Jiufeng gave her an exasperated look. "You just want to gossip."

"Just a little listen! Just a peek!" The white fox jumped into his lap, rubbing against him playfully.

Lin Jiufeng sighed helplessly, then spread his divine sense across Yuhua Sect, pinpointing where Wen Xinyun and Wen Yang were meeting.

He shared the scene with the white fox.

She immediately held her breath, eyes locked onto the unfolding conversation without blinking.

Inside the Grand Hall of Yuhua Sect

After escorting Wen Xinyun inside, Bai Yunfei excused himself, leaving her alone with Wen Yang.

Wen Xinyun's face remained emotionless, her presence as cold as ice. She stared at Wen Yang without a word.

Wen Yang, however, looked at her with a complicated expression. After a long silence, he finally spoke. "You look a lot like your mother."

Wen Xinyun's expression darkened instantly, fury flashing in her eyes.

Wen Yang sighed. "By bloodline, you should call me Third Uncle."

Wen Xinyun's gaze turned even colder. "How interesting. I've lived for more than a decade and only now do I learn that I have a Third Uncle."

Wen Yang gave a bitter smile. "I understand your resentment toward the Wen family."

Wen Xinyun remained unmoved.

"Your mother was also a Wen. She was of the family's direct lineage, but distantly related to your father. We belonged to the same generation, though we barely interacted. After all, she was raised for a special purpose—as a 'Breaker of the Seal.'"

Wen Xinyun's brows knitted together. "When I was young, everyone told me my mother had no cultivation—that she was just an ordinary person."

"She became an ordinary person after marrying your father," Wen Yang confirmed with a nod.

"Tell me everything. What really happened?" Wen Xinyun clenched her fists, unable to suppress her emotions any longer.

Wen Yang sighed and began his tale.

"It all starts with the origins of the Wen family."

"The Wen family was founded five thousand years ago. Our ancestor was one of the ten great powerhouses of that era, originally a follower of 'The Painted-Skin Scholar.' Under his guidance, he cultivated and grew stronger."

"Our ancestor never intended to create a great family. His only wish was to follow The Painted-Skin Scholar's footsteps. But five thousand years ago, disaster struck. The Scholar ventured into a dangerous secret realm. Anticipating peril, he entrusted our ancestor with the Wen Family's 'Profound Realm' and ordered him to hide inside until the storm had passed."

"Our ancestor obeyed without question. He remained hidden in the Profound Realm for centuries, waiting for The Scholar's return. But as time passed and The Scholar never came back, he finally decided to step out and search."

"That was when he discovered—he couldn't leave."

Wen Xinyun's frown deepened. "Why not?"

"The Profound Realm was sealed."

"Sealed? Why?"

Wen Yang shook his head. "No one knows. Even after five thousand years, the truth remains a mystery."

"Our ancestor tried everything to escape but failed. With no other choice, he settled inside, started a family, and the Wen lineage was born. Generation after generation, the family grew stronger, yet we remained trapped in the Profound Realm."

Wen Xinyun narrowed her eyes. "Then how did you get out now?"

"It's only in the past few decades that the seal has weakened slightly, allowing those below the Tenth Ban to leave. But the full power of the Tenth Ban still cannot step beyond the Profound Realm."

Wen Xinyun looked at him warily. "And what does all of this have to do with me?"

Wen Yang's expression turned solemn.

"It relates to your mother's generation." He paused before continuing, "As I said before, she was one of the 'Breakers of the Seal.' She was born with a mission."

"What mission?" Wen Xinyun's breath hitched, and she hugged her arms as if bracing for something.

"To use her innate talent to help break the seal."

Wen Xinyun's fingers dug into her sleeves. "What does that mean?"

"The ancestors studied countless records and found a possible method of breaking the seal. Within the Wen bloodline, there exists a rare trait called the 'Ethereal Eye.' Those born with it are the most exceptional prodigies, and their power can weaken the seal."

"So, in every generation, whenever an Ethereal Eye appears, they are raised to their peak—until they reach the Ninth Ban's pinnacle. Then, at the final moment… they must scatter their cultivation, sacrificing their life's work to erode the seal."

"For five thousand years, fifty such prodigies have been born. They were all called 'Breakers of the Seal.' At their strongest, each willingly gave up their cultivation… all for this mission."

Wen Yang's voice was heavy with emotion.

Wen Xinyun trembled. "Are you telling me… my mother was an Ethereal Eye as well? And she… gave up her cultivation?"

Wen Yang nodded slowly.

"No… that doesn't add up! My mother gave birth to me when she was twenty! How could she have reached the Ninth Ban's peak so young?" Wen Xinyun suddenly stopped mid-sentence, her eyes widening in horror. "Unless…"

She covered her mouth, staring at Wen Yang in shock and anger.

Wen Yang closed his eyes as if pained. Then, he nodded.

"She wasn't just a genius of her generation. Your mother was the greatest talent in five thousand years. By the age of eighteen, she had already reached the Ninth Ban's peak."

"AND YOU STILL FORCED HER TO SACRIFICE HERSELF?!" Wen Xinyun's voice shook with rage.

Wen Yang looked tormented. "That was the fate of every Ethereal Eye. If they gave up their cultivation willingly and rested afterward, they could gradually recover… But no one expected what she would do next."

"She married your father."

"And in the weakest moment of her life, she became pregnant with you."

Wen Xinyun's eyes brimmed with tears. She had never known any of this.

She had never even imagined it.

"What about my father?" she whispered hoarsely.

"With the seal's weakening, Ninth Ban cultivators could finally leave. The family sent your father out to search for The Painted-Skin Scholar's whereabouts. After years of searching, he found a lead…"

"But then, he vanished. No one knows where he went. His soul-bound jade token shattered, and the patriarch at the time, Wen Ting, declared him dead."

Wen Xinyun clenched her fists, tears slipping down her cheeks. "After everything they did for the family… this was how you repaid them?"

Wen Yang lowered his head. "The Wen family made a grave mistake."

"When your mother begged Wen Ting to keep searching for your father, he coldly refused. He said that a shattered jade token meant death. There was no point in looking."

"Heartbroken, weakened, and carrying you in her womb… she collapsed."

"And she fell into a state of suspended animation."

Wen Xinyun's breath hitched. She grabbed Wen Yang's sleeve in desperation.

"Wait… you said my mother… is in suspended animation?"
