Ultimate DMC Sytem In Marvel

Chapter 61: Demon Worshipper

"Hmm? That grimoire looks familiar," Cypher remarked as she stepped in closer, narrowing her eyes at the newly materialized book in Alex's hand.

It was a leather-bound tome—deep black, almost obsidian in hue—with elaborate black-gold markings that shimmered faintly as though they pulsed with a living, magical presence.

"That's a beginner-level grimoire," she observed, a note of surprise creeping into her tone. "I remember seeing one like that back in the Demon Realm. A noble demon was carrying it. Of course, I was just a Lesser Demon back then. I didn't even dare to glance in their direction, let alone approach them."

Alex nodded slightly, not particularly shocked by her statement. He now understood much more about the Demon Realm—where demons like Cypher and Zephyra originated. It wasn't just a chaotic wasteland of monsters, but a fully organized world, layered and structured with its own hierarchy, power system, and politics.

So it's real… the Demon Realm. A complete realm, tiered and ruled—nobles, commoners, outcasts. It's like a warped reflection of our own world, he thought.

And the more he reflected on it, the more apparent it became: these demons weren't mindless entities created at the moment of summoning. They came from a living, breathing dimension of ancient darkness and chaotic order.

Which meant… opportunity. And danger.

If I keep growing like this… sooner or later, someone powerful will notice. The Archdukes. The Demon Lords. The true rulers of that realm…

Noticing the change in his expression, Cypher tilted her head. "You're thinking about the Demon Realm, aren't you?"

He didn't reply directly but offered her a quiet nod.

"I've never gone back," she said after a pause. "And I don't plan to—unless it's with the purpose of burning it all to the ground at your command."

Alex's lips curved slightly into a smirk.

"Not yet," he said calmly. "But someday… maybe."

Then he looked down at the grimoire, its golden glyphs pulsing gently as if eager to be read, as if the book itself was alive with anticipation. But instead of opening it, he gently set it aside.

There was something else that took priority right now—Maria.

From a hallway off to the side, Zephyra emerged, carefully supporting Maria in her arms. Maria looked a little anxious, but there was trust in her expression. She wasn't afraid. Zephyra's hand rested gently on her shoulder, checking her vitals—pulse, aura, temperature—ensuring everything remained stable and in balance.

Alex stepped forward.

"It's time," he said softly, "Let's begin the bonding ritual."

Cypher gave a single nod and stepped forward as well, activating the protective formation she had etched into the ground earlier. Maria sat down at the center of the circle without hesitation, her gaze steady and unwavering.

"Are you going to give her your blood directly?" Zephyra asked in a quiet voice, turning toward Alex.

Alex nodded. "Just one drop. That's all it takes to form the Demon Worshipper bond. With your power as the anchor."

Zephyra gave a small smile. "Very well. Place a single drop on the lightning sigil I carved onto her abdomen. The ritual will handle the rest."

Alex pricked his finger, letting a small drop of his blood fall onto the faint lightning symbol glowing faintly on Maria's lower stomach. The instant the blood touched it, a spark of power ignited—and the rune pulsed, glowing with intense light.

Maria gasped, her back arching slightly as energy rushed through her body. Zephyra held her steady, watching with a focused intensity, ensuring the transition went smoothly.

The rune began to shift. The once-simple lightning mark expanded, blossoming into a complete circular formation. Intricate lines etched themselves outward, glowing with layered hues of crimson and silver. The design grew more refined, more elegant—imbued with deeper magical complexity.

Then, it stilled.

The ritual circle solidified into a fully formed seal—a glowing crest carved in ancient demonic script, readable only by those with the blood of demons in their veins.

"What is that?" Alex asked, narrowing his eyes as the new symbol settled onto Maria's skin. It radiated an energy that was both electric and infernal—a harmonious blend of lightning and demonic mana.

Cypher stepped closer to examine it. "That… is a House Sigil. A blank one."

"A House Sigil?"

"Yes," she confirmed. "It's a symbol that represents a Demon House. But since you haven't chosen yours yet—or claimed a demon name—this one is still empty and undefined."

"So… it'll change in the future?" Alex asked.

Cypher nodded. "Yes. Once your Origin Title awakens and you declare your House, this sigil will evolve accordingly. It will become your official crest. Everyone directly bound to you—your worshippers, your followers—they'll bear that symbol."

Alex looked down at Maria. She was calm now, breathing steadily. But her aura was unmistakably altered. Stronger. Sharper.

Then, almost reflexively, her fingers twitched—and thin arcs of lightning sparked along her hand.

But it wasn't Zephyra's usual red lightning.

It was black and white—just like his Demon Mana.

Cypher leaned in, watching the display. "Her lightning affinity has adapted to yours. That confirms the bond. It's merged with your unique energy signature."

Maria stared at her hand, her eyes wide with wonder as the flickers of black-and-white lightning danced across her fingertips. The energy pulsed in rhythm with her breath—unfamiliar but strangely natural.

"It feels… incredible," she whispered in awe.

Alex smiled faintly. "Welcome to the world of power, Maria."

She turned her head to look at him and smiled warmly in return. But just as she opened her mouth to speak again, something unexpected happened. A brief red light flickered across her eyes—like a flash flare. Her pupils turned crimson for a heartbeat and then returned to their normal color. She blinked, seemingly unaware of the shift.

"I'm feeling sleepy… I think I'll go rest," she said quietly. She kissed Alex gently, then left without another word.

Alex didn't stop her, but his smile faded slightly as he stared after her. What was that red flash?

His gaze sharpened, instincts already on alert.

From a few paces behind, Cypher and Zephyra both suddenly straightened. Their expressions changed—serious, tight.
