Uchiha Kei: Game Dev in the Shinobi World

Chapter 197: UK:GSW Chapter 197: Obito: This Is Peak Social Death—My Reputation Is Over

On that day, Uchiha Obito naturally survived.

After all, Uchiha Madara had deliberately avoided striking this blockhead. Even as Obito darted chaotically around the collapsing Foundation base, shouting "Rin!" in a mix of panic and grief while dodging falling rocks, nothing ever hit him directly.

Once Madara ceased his use of Wood Style: Deep Forest Emergence, the rampage ended, and the collapse of the Foundation base also came to a stop.

Though the destructive jutsu had loosened the underground structure, rendering it prone to collapse, the spreading roots ironically served as impromptu support beams.

So, Obito was safe.

Later, Shimura Danzō was crushed by Madara and rendered crippled. With his defeat, most of the seals and restrictions placed on Obito automatically lifted, restoring about 70% of his chakra. He moved freely again.

It turned out Danzō really was a twisted control freak—most of the control seals on Obito were tied to Danzō himself. He had never truly trusted his subordinates. He only trusted himself.

Because of Danzō's excessive control, the Foundation was left in chaos when he fled after Madara's dimensional beatdown. With no leadership, the survivors froze, unsure of what to do.

The lucky few who lived just stood around blankly. They didn't help, didn't flee. At best, they found a safe corner and cowered.

So, when Obito encountered them, they simply stared at him in a daze. No one lifted a finger.

Obito was tense at first, but seeing their lack of reaction, he exhaled in relief and continued his frantic search for Rin.

Unfortunately, all his effort was meaningless—Rin had already been rescued.

Meanwhile, hidden among the dirt and roots, a few White Zetsu observed his fruitless search and started chatting.

"Should we go out and tell him the girl's already been saved?"

"Forget it! Lord Kei said we only intervene if he's dying or unconscious. He's perfectly fine right now, so let's not do anything."

"Yeah, plus Madara-sama said to just monitor him. Let's stick to that."

So Obito's desperate search for his goddess continued, watched silently by countless eyes, and was completely in vain.

Eventually, he stumbled upon the Foundation's secret laboratory.

What he found was chaos—shattered vials, mutilated corpses, and experimental "samples" grotesquely mutated by Hashirama's cells.

It looked like something out of a horror story.

Obito's nerves snapped. His pupils shook. The seals binding his Sharingan cracked under the pressure.

His eyes opened wide—three tomoe in his left, two in the right. But the right side rapidly evolved. Three tomoe.

Because he feared the worst: had Rin… ended up in *this* place? Had she been used… as an experiment?

It wasn't paranoia. With no sign of her elsewhere, and this horrific place turning up now, how could he not assume the worst?

His brain buzzed. The world lost all color—bathed in crimson.

Mechanically, he stumbled forward, voice hoarse as he kept calling her name.

And then—he saw a survivor. All the other researchers were dead. Only one remained, curled in a corner, trembling: Kinoe (Iburi). A wooden spike from the Wood Release had pierced his side.

The Foundation's head researcher didn't even know what had happened. Deep Forest Emergence had wrecked the lab, killed his assistants, and nearly ended him too. Now, he was a wreck—mentally blank.

Obito lunged, rage fueling his strength, grabbing Kinoe by the collar and yelling, "Where's Rin?!"

Kinoe stared blankly, brain lagging, trying to recall.

Rin? Who was Rin?

Some girl… was she a past test subject?

His instincts spoke: "All the test subjects brought here… are already dead…"

Buzz—

Obito's mind went blank. The world lost color. Thought ceased.

When he came to, his fists were covered in blood. Kinoe lay unconscious and battered beyond recognition.

Unintentionally, Obito had snapped—and brutally beat him.

Kinoe was a genius in research, but as a shinobi, merely a chunin. And a pretty average one at that. Even in the movie, after mastering forbidden jutsu, Naruto still took him down with a basic Rasenshuriken.

Now, terrified by Madara's Wood Release and up against a true Three-Tomoe Obito, he stood no chance.

Obito panted, trembling, staring at his blood-soaked hands—hands that might as well have held Rin's blood.

Suddenly, Namikaze Minato appeared behind him, having sensed the Flying Raijin seal on Obito reactivating after the restraints lifted.

"Obito?"

Minato saw Obito's condition—cold, lifeless aura, blood-stained hands, a man beaten near to death beneath him.

Looking at the ruined lab, Minato put it together instantly: Obito had lost control. The environment had pushed him over the edge.

Understandable. This place would break any ten-year-old. Even a ninja.

Without hesitation, Minato grabbed Obito's shoulder and used the Flying Raijin Technique to return home.

He couldn't leave Obito here. He needed comfort. Rin and Kushina would know how to reach him.

In an instant, they were home. Minato patted Obito on the shoulder.

"It's okay now, Obito. You're safe."

His voice held a hint of guilt. He *could* have saved Obito before the restraints were ever applied. But for the sake of Kei's plan… he hadn't. And now Obito had witnessed hell.

If this left a scar on Obito's heart… Minato would regret it for a long time.

Then Obito turned his head—and Minato's eyes widened.

Obito's expression was lifeless. His eyes were empty. But his Sharingan spun wildly, and tears streamed down.

"Obito, you…"

Minato didn't know what to say. He hadn't expected *that* much damage.

Then Obito spoke. His voice was hoarse and low.

"Sensei… Rin is gone…"

Minato: "…Huh?"

Obito kept rambling.

"Rin… this cruel world… this disgusting world… it's hell…"

Minato blinked. "Wait. Obito… did you misunderstand something?"

But Obito wasn't listening. His mind was lost in spirals of grief. He remembered the game *Escape*, where Rin had died to protect him. That scene overlapped with his current experience.

"Sensei, you were too slow. You didn't make it. You couldn't save Rin… Heh… Hahaha! How hilarious! The Yellow Flash—didn't make it in time! The fastest man alive—couldn't save her!!"

Minato: "???"

Little Sunshine was officially confused.

Obito's face twisted with grief and rage.

"Sensei! I'm going to create… a world where Rin still lives!!!"

His roar surged with Uchiha chakra. The shape of his Sharingan began to shift.

The ultimate evolution of the Uchiha was taking shape.

And right then—

A voice.

"…Obito, what are you even saying? Why would you want to create a world with me in it?"

Blackout.

Obito's spiral of darkness was cut off instantly.

Neck stiff, he slowly turned his head… and saw her.

Rin Nohara.

Alongside her: Kushina Uzumaki, Kakashi Hatake, Might Guy.

All staring at him… with expressions ranging from confusion to speechlessness.

Kushina, cracking her knuckles: "Obito… were you just trying to go dark side? And blaming Minato, no less?"

Obito broke into a cold sweat. No more talk of darkness. Only fear of the beatdown.

Kakashi, dead-fish stare: "You idiot Deadlast… what were you *thinking*? Saying stuff like that, aren't you ashamed?"

Obito clenched his teeth. But the shame hit hard.

Guy gave him a thumbs-up: "I don't get it, but if you want to create a world with Rin, then go for it! That's youth! I'll support you, my friend!"

And just like that, social death.

Rin's expression was… complicated. Confusion, sorrow, pity, awkwardness—her eyes radiated a spectrum of emotion.

For Obito, it was too much. He wished for a rocket to the moon.

And then—he passed out.

His mental state had cracked. After nearly awakening the Mangekyō Sharingan, his brain just gave up.

In canon, Obito had awakened his power at age 14, in a White Zetsu-Hokage Cell hybrid body that minimized chakra cost.

Now? He was ten, only bulked up from eating Kei's "gamer snacks." No match.

So, collapse was inevitable. He was already mentally running away. The blacking out was just convenient.

He remained unconscious for several days. When he finally awoke in the hospital… he wished he hadn't.

Because the memories returned.

He remembered every cringe-inducing line he had shouted before passing out. In front of *everyone* he cared about.

Going dark is one thing when tragedy really happens.

But if it's all a misunderstanding… and everyone saw your breakdown…

All that's left… is shame.

And Obito had showcased his full black history in public. The kind that makes you want to flee to another planet.

But alas, reality doesn't allow escape.

Word of his awakening spread fast.

Minato immediately teleported everyone—yes, everyone—to visit (read: gawk at) him. This was clearly Kei's idea.

Not just the original crew—Kei brought along Shisui, Fugaku, and others. The goal? To smother Obito in family-style warmth.

To Obito, it felt like a death sentence.

Especially when Guy, at Kei's signal, enthusiastically reenacted Obito's blackened speech for the newcomers.

And so…

Obito felt his entire social life… was over.
