Chapter 213: Chapter 213: Zhong Xi

With Ying's arrival, the Akatsuki organization welcomed a new member. As a newcomer, she was just like Chi had been—cautious and careful with everything she did, always on edge.

To help her adjust, Airi took on the responsibility of guiding her, occasionally bringing her along to Wildfire Town in the Outer Ring to experience the warm hospitality of the Sons of Calydon.

Gradually, Ying began to change. At the very least, she no longer felt as tense around Airi and Chi as she did at the beginning.

This was good news—but Zhong Yan didn't pay it too much mind. He had something more important to deal with.

Following Anby's delivery, Ellen was now also nearing childbirth.

Fortunately, someone from Victoria Housekeeping was already looking after Ellen, so Zhong Yan didn't have to worry much about her care. Still, as the father, he absolutely had to be there for the birth. Otherwise, it would be downright irresponsible.

Of course, he couldn't neglect Anby either. Before setting off, Zhong Yan first made sure her emotions were settled before heading to the Victoria Housekeeping estate.

At that moment, the entire estate was bustling in preparation for Ellen. The maids were running themselves ragged with work.

Ellen was nearly full term. Instead of taking her to a hospital, they had invited doctors to the estate to ensure the child would be delivered in a more comfortable environment.

Why? Because the mistress of the house was filthy rich. And since she had raised Ellen, an orphan, from a young age, she took extra care of her.

Back inside one of the rooms at the estate, Ellen lay on the bed, eyes drifting around the sterilized room. The only ones allowed in were Rina and the specially-invited doctors.

"Little Ellen, try not to worry. Just follow the doctors' instructions when the time comes," Rina said soothingly. Truthfully, she didn't know how to comfort someone going into labor—she'd never experienced childbirth herself.

In contrast, Ellen wasn't overthinking it. She glanced at the medical team, seemingly indifferent, and asked, "Where's Zhong Yan? He's not here?"

As the child's father, Zhong Yan had to be there. If he didn't show up, she would be truly disappointed.

Luckily, Zhong Yan had already anticipated this, and was waiting just outside the room.

Rina quickly reassured her, "Mr. Zhong Yan is right outside. Once the baby's born, you'll be able to see him."

"Mm..." Hearing that, Ellen finally seemed a little more at ease.

Outside the room...

Corin, Lycaon, and Zhong Yan were pacing anxiously.

"Mr. Zhong Yan… please stop pacing. Corin's getting dizzy watching you," Corin muttered, gripping her massive chainsaw as she stared at Zhong Yan's constant movement.

She was already nervous. Seeing him like this only made it worse.

Lycaon was the calmest of the three—relatively speaking. The reason he wasn't inside was more than just a matter of gender—it had to do with his fur.

As a Thiren, he had to constantly groom to reduce shedding. Even then, it couldn't be entirely prevented. Being in the delivery room could potentially be a hygiene risk to Ellen.

He was well aware of that and deeply frustrated, but there was nothing he could do. He couldn't change his species, after all.

Hours passed.

Finally, the door to the room opened.

All three immediately moved forward—Zhong Yan leading the charge.

Rina poked her head out, smiling as she saw the hopeful faces gathered outside.

She turned to Zhong Yan and said with a bright smile, "Congratulations, Mr. Zhong Yan—it's a baby girl. Come see her!"

Without hesitation, Zhong Yan rushed in. Corin followed right behind, while Lycaon stood frozen in place, unsure whether he was allowed in.

"Mr. Lycaon, you can come in too. Just stand a bit further away—it'll be fine," Rina called out.

Hearing that, Lycaon forced a small smile. With her permission, he finally stepped in, though he still felt a bit awkward.

Inside the room, the cry of a newborn echoed.

Zhong Yan followed the sound, and saw the baby in the doctor's arms.

Unlike Zhong Ling, this baby girl had a very noticeable shark tail—small, but clearly inherited from her mother, Ellen.

She was a Xiren child—a shark-type—carrying on her mother's bloodline.

But Zhong Yan didn't let himself be completely swept up by the sight. Instead, he walked to the bedside, gently taking Ellen's hand.

Ellen, who was drifting into unconsciousness from exhaustion, opened her eyes the moment she felt his warmth.

Seeing the boy before her, she smiled faintly, lips trembling as if to speak—but no words came.

"Just rest. You're too weak right now. Don't push yourself," Zhong Yan said gently. Compared to Anby, Ellen looked even more fragile—likely due to her shark bloodline.

Anby, a former soldier, naturally had a stronger physique, though her healing was also exceptional.

Hearing his words, Ellen finally let go of her last bit of strength, eyes fluttering shut as her breathing slowed to a calm rhythm.

Zhong Yan didn't disturb her. He quietly released her hand and turned toward the doctor.

"Are you the child's father?" the doctor asked. "Then you should give her a name."

Zhong Yan paused in thought.

After a long silence, he finally said:

"Let's call her… Zhong Xi."
