Two Summit War :One Piece

Chapter 36: 036. Little Ace: I Want to Talk

(Present) Ace: "No, I can't keep watching. It's too upsetting. Just thinking about how the three of us were separated in another world makes me feel inexplicably sad. Let's grab a drink after work."

(Present) Luffy: "Hahaha! That's exactly what I was thinking!"

(Present) Sabo: "Come to the Goa Kingdom. My treat! And you're not leaving until you're completely wasted!"

(Original) Ace: "Hey, hey, hey! You three, don't go too far!"

Hearing the conversation between their alternate selves, the three brothers from the original world felt utterly frustrated.

Here they were, struggling with the painful reality of separation, while the other side was making drinking plans like it was just another day at work.

There is no harm without comparison.

And this comparison was downright infuriating.

In the Video

Little Sabo looked at Ron hesitantly before speaking.

"Sir Ron, my friend wants to talk to you. Do you have time?" He pointed at the boy next to him. "Oh, by the way, his name is Ace."

Little Luffy, grinning from ear to ear, chimed in.

"Hehe, this guy is no match for me! If I do this—bang, bang, bang—I can knock him down easily!"

That one sentence shattered Ace's composure instantly.

"Shut up if you have nothing useful to say!"

"Are we seriously discussing who's stronger right now?"

Ace turned to glare at Luffy, exasperated. But when he looked at Ron, the man was calmly reading a book, not even glancing at him.

Ace frowned. He had spent time preparing counterarguments against this Marine, ready to prove him wrong.

And yet, Ron wasn't even paying him the slightest attention.

"Aren't you going to talk to me?" Ace asked, feeling irritated.

"Hey, Ace, don't be rude," Sabo scolded, patting his shoulder.

"I'm not talking to you," Ron replied casually, still not looking up. "Go away."

"Huh?"

Ace had been ready to argue, but he never expected the first thing Ron would say to completely shut him down.

The guy wasn't even willing to talk to him!

Was he kidding?

All of Ace's carefully prepared arguments felt useless, like punching cotton.

Frustration bubbled up inside him.

"Why won't you talk to me?" Ace demanded.

"I don't want to."

Ace was stunned.

Why?

Why would Ron talk to Sabo and even that idiot Luffy but not him?

This only made Ace more determined.

That was just the kind of person he was—tell him he can't do something, and he'll want to do it even more.

People told him not to chase Blackbeard, and he went anyway.

People told him to run at Marineford, and he turned back.

Seeing Ron's indifferent attitude, Sabo decided not to push any further. He gave a respectful salute, then grabbed Luffy and Ace—who stubbornly refused to leave—and hurried away.

As they walked off, Garp approached Ron with a puzzled look.

"Political Commissar Ron, why did you reject him? This Ace has great potential. I think he could change his path and not follow in his father's footsteps."

Ron finally closed his book and smiled.

"He won't give up. He'll definitely come back before dark."

Garp looked confused. "Commissar Ron, are you using Observation Haki to predict the future?"

Ron shook his head. "It's just common sense. If you learn to use your brain, you'll be able to figure it out too."

Garp blinked. "Eh? Why does it feel like you're insulting me? But I have no proof…"

(Alternate) Sengoku and the Discussion

(Alternate) Sengoku: "Ron is always one step ahead.

He rejected Ace outright, making all the arguments he had prepared completely useless. That alone would irritate anyone. But more importantly, it triggered Ace's competitive spirit.

Now, instead of wanting to argue, Ace wants to talk.

That's genius—pure genius!

He turned 'I want to refute you' into 'I want to talk to you.'

Brilliant manipulation."

(Original) Garp: "Um… how did you understand all that? Why can't I think of such things?"

(Original) Sengoku: "Maybe because you're an idiot?"

Late at Night

Just as Ron predicted, Ace lay awake, growing angrier by the second.

The more he thought about it, the more it irritated him.

And Luffy's snoring wasn't helping.

Annoyed, Ace grabbed one of Luffy's sandals and shoved it into his mouth.

"This guy is so annoying!"

Seeing that Luffy was still snoring, he grabbed the other sandal and stuffed it in as well.

"Your mouth is so big—let's see if two fit!"

(Present) Luffy: "Huh? So that's why I used to wake up with a nasty smell in my mouth as a kid! Alright, Ace, just wait! I'm stuffing my shoes in your mouth after work!"

(Present) Ace: "Hahaha! I didn't think this would get exposed in the video!"

But Ace couldn't be bothered by Luffy's antics right now.

Looking out at the dimly lit Marine warship in the distance, an idea formed in his mind.

"I refuse to accept this!"

"He has to talk to me! I need to see how he fooled Sabo!"

With that, Ace snuck toward the warship.

Unfortunately, the moment he got close, Marine soldiers spotted him and threw him out.

Annoyed but determined, he tried again—this time swimming underwater to approach from the other side.

Again, he was caught and tossed back into the sea.

"Damn it! I have to meet that man!"

On his third attempt, he used tree branches as a slingshot to launch himself onto the ship.

He nearly made it this time—until Momousagi appeared, grabbed him by the collar, and threw him back into the sea.

Again.

And again.

And again.

(Original) Whitebeard: "Gurarara! That's just like Ace. When he first challenged me, he did the same thing—trying over and over to board my ship. He never gives up, no matter how many times he's thrown off."

(Present) Sengoku: "Yes, but back then, he was throwing himself into the abyss. This time, he's walking toward the dawn. There's a difference."

By the tenth attempt, the Marines had long noticed him, but they no longer stopped him outright—on Ron's orders.

Ron had decided it was time.

This time, Ace finally made it aboard.

Gasping for breath, he crept onto the warship, convinced he was unnoticed.

He saw a dim light inside a cabin and tiptoed forward.

Just as he reached for the door—

"Come in," Ron's voice called out.

Ace froze.

"Wait… you were expecting me?"

Ron smiled.

"Do you want to talk?"

Ace hesitated.

Then, after ten failed attempts, after all the frustration and struggle, after all the stubbornness—

He finally nodded.

"...Yeah. I do."

---

(Original) Sengoku: "Ron manipulated him completely."

(Original) Whitebeard: "No, he guided him."
