Chapter 22: The Soulkeeper’s Secret
The moon hovered low over the forests of Shatrvan, its silver glow filtering through layers of mist. The temple ruins where Avantika stood trembled slightly, as if whispering secrets long buried beneath stone and time.
She had followed a song—no, a memory—echoing through her mind like a distant lullaby. Her fingers brushed the old mural before her, revealing a painting of two girls: one cloaked in fire, the other in waves. But behind them was a third—a faint figure wrapped in ethereal light.
"The Fifth Element…" she murmured.
Suddenly, the stone beneath her glowed. Her vision blurred, and she was pulled into another time—another life.
A Forgotten Vision
In her trance, Avantika saw a garden bathed in starlight. A woman stood in the center, her hands over a cradle. She wore no crown, yet commanded presence like a queen. Around her, five elemental symbols shimmered in air: Fire, Water, Earth, Air, and… something else—a silver spiral swirling like a soul's breath.
The woman whispered, "Only the Soulkeeper can unite what destiny has divided."
Avantika gasped, breaking out of the vision, her heart pounding.
Devsena's Flames Awaken
Meanwhile, miles away, Devsena stood in the heart of the Fire Caves, sword drawn, eyes locked with a burning spirit—a being made of living flames, ancient and wild.
"You seek control over fire?" it hissed.
"No," she replied. "I seek to understand it."
The spirit lunged, fire surging. Devsena didn't fight it—she listened. And in that moment, the flames wrapped around her, not to burn, but to empower. Her blade shimmered red-hot, and for the first time, she commanded the fire, not just wielded it.
When the trial ended, an old guardian approached her—a blind woman draped in ashes.
"You are ready, Devsena. But remember… fire that burns too bright can cast the longest shadows."
The Soulkeeper Revealed
In the deep forest, Arjuna was deciphering Vrinda's ancient scrolls in the Moonlit Archive. One scroll slipped from the pile, unmarked and sealed with the same spiral symbol Avantika saw in her vision.
With trembling fingers, he unsealed it.
"The Soulkeeper is neither born of flame nor wave, but walks among them, watching, waiting…"
His eyes widened.
The Soulkeeper was never lost.
The Soulkeeper was one of them.
And worse—someone already knew.
Footsteps echoed in the darkness behind him.
"Looking for secrets, Prince?" a cold voice said.
He turned slowly.
It was General Arkat, the traitor from the Western Realm. And in his hand… was the mark of the fifth element glowing.
To be continued…
