A normal teenager with blonde hair murmured as he looked seriously at the "soap" section in the supermarket. His name is Kaito, and right now he is contemplating which kind of soap he should buy. He didn't realize that he spend his time long enough that people around him began to gossip about him and brand him as a weirdo.

One of the clerks in the supermarket approached him and asked, "Customer, please pick your soap quickly. Your action causing distress to another customer."

The teenager who heard what the clerk say to him gets surprised and quickly rebuked, "B-But I just want to pick a soap!"

The girls and ladies around her begin to comment. While other men looked at him with contempt.

"For more than 10 minutes?"

"Maybe he was thinking which soap that good enough for another purpose."

"Pervert."

"We need to call the police."

"We need to warn others."

Realizing the situation around him, he quickly take a random soap and walked away from there. It doesn't stop people talking about him on there though.

The teenager sighed as he complained the moment he get out of the supermarket. He thought to himself, why are people looking at him weirdly when he is just confused about which soap he should take? 

Some people even called him a pervert and even the cashier look at him with a disgusted expression. He swore that he would never visit that supermarket again.

And moreover, somehow when he take the soap randomly, it was still lemon fragrance soap.

*Sigh*

Well, After he take a deep breath, he calmed himself rather quickly and then he walked slowly back to his home.

This is not the first time he has been unlucky and surely not the last time for him.

Since he was born to this world, Highschool DxD, he has been unlucky almost all the time so it was no big deal at all. 

His biological parent leave him at an orphanage the moment he was born, and then 4 years later the orphanage where he was living went bankrupt. After that, he got adopted by someone he has never seen in his entire life, Which is a weird circumstance... but he got no choice at that time. 

He was forced to live in his adoptive parent's home alone with a maid. The maid itself is beautiful and looks like in her '20s, very capable of doing chores and cleaning the house, though she was not very friendly and never talk to himself unless necessary... But at least she does take care of the house.

Apparently, his supposed adoptive parent is rich and his business mainly in Europe. Because of that they can't come back to Japan and take care of him by themselves, so they send a maid to take care of him... At least financially and houseworks.

Thankfully he was a reincarnator, and he was once an adult who lived by himself in his previous life so it wasn't big deal for him to have no parent. Funny enough, even after 10 years of living alone in Tokyo, he never know the face or the appearance of the person who adopted him... Only a letter coming from them each month, and sometimes a recorder containing a distorted voice which he assumed his adopting parents. 

Sometimes he wonders why the fuck this person adopted him in the first place. He wonders if he is lucky or unlucky for this situation to happen.

The only silver lining on this is that he got the whole house on his own with completely still working furniture and then money from the person who adopted him each month, enough for him to live comfortably.

*Sigh*

Still, he won't call himself being lucky with all benefits above, because he was aware of how dangerous the world he is living in right now.

Yet, he doesn't have any cheat or golden finger on himself despite being a reincarnator. He trains himself very hard with various martial arts like Taekwondo and Karate since he was still a little but he knows it won't do much against any supernatural creature in this world.

As he walked while thinking more useless things, his thought was interrupted as he hears the voice of a girl yelling coming from behind the building.

The moment Kaito comes, what he sees there is the short pretty girl with blonde straight long hair surrounded by more than 10 gangsters who keep laughing at her. She tried her best to intimidate them by yelling a threat, but they didn't believe it at all.

It can be seen that none of the gangsters take her seriously and all of them have vicious-looking on their faces.

Without thinking, As a gentleman, Kaito quickly runs toward one of the thugs and punches him in the face.

"Run!" Kaito yelled toward the girl after punching the thug.

"W-What?!" The girl surprised looked at Kaito who tried to help him.

"Who are you, bastard!"

One of the thugs approaching him from behind with a knife but Kaito quickly avoided his attack and sweep his leg, followed by a punch in his stomach. 

*BAMM*

*Aaargh... My teeth!"

The other thugs also tried swarmed him, but Kaito is not an ordinary martial art practitioner. The result of his constant training made his instinct very sharp and he could avoid almost all the gangster attacks effectively.

Even though he doesn't have any golden finger, doesn't mean Kaito does not have the ability to fight. With his very high-level martial art ability, it would be more than enough to fight a mere thugs.

"Girl! You should leave! I can't keep fighting with them! This is dangerous" Kaito loudly said as he keep fighting back the thugs around him.

"N-No! I believe in you would be able to defeat them!" The girl denied his suggestion and looked at him with admiration.

"What nonsense you talk about!" Kaito yelled back, suddenly getting headache.

He seriously thought the girl behind him must be stupid... Or she is just scared... Some of the thugs might chase her if she ran and Kaito can't protect her if that happens. 

So it might be safer to keep hiding behind him (?). He is aware that he would soon reach his limit. After all, no matter how strong his martial art ability is, he is still a normal human teenager in the end.

*BOOM*

...??!!

As he was still fighting back and wracking his brain about how to get out of the situation, suddenly a man with blonde hair landed behind them and yelled, "Human scum, why you are all here?!"

Turning around, Kaito look at the person who called them human scum and can't be helped but get surprised and frowned.

Because he realizes that the man in front of him is the first major villain in this world, Riser Phenex. And at that moment he also realized that the girl he tried to save should be his little sister, Ravel Phenex. Kaito can't help but think how foolish he is to try to save a person who definitely stronger than himself. And why he didn't recognize her earlier.

Probably because Ravel currently does not using her iconic twintail hairstyle.

"Onii-chan! They dare threaten me!"

The blonde girl quickly hug his brother arm and asked for help. Both thugs and Kaito stop their fight together looking at who is looking at them. 

Kaito aware of how dangerous the man in front of him was, slowly take a step back as he prepared to run from this short-fuse devil.

"W-Who are you?" One of the thugs asked.

Riser who looked at us with disdain arrogantly replied, "I am Riser Phenex, you all dare threaten my sister, die scum!"

With his instinct, Kaito quickly turn over and run as quickly as he could. He is aware of how protective Riser is toward his sister in the series, and he has no doubt Riser would start killing all of them right now. The thugs surprised looking at Kaito ran away from the guy in front of them but then split second later it would become their last thought.

With a disdain, very large fireball instantly came out from Riser's hand, engulfed the thufs in the fire quickly, and burn them into ashes. None of the gangsters was even able to scream, as the fire of Phenex quickly burn them alive.

*BURST*

Kaito who ran a bit earlier didn't get burned by a thugs but he knows that it's just a matter of seconds. 

"Ah?! Onii-chan?!"

Ravel try to stop his brother because she realizes that she helped was also among the thugs but she was too late.

Kaito who get desperately ran away from the fireball would soon get him in second for sure. Right now he was desperately wished whatever golden finger he got should be activated and could save him from getting burned alive!

'There's no way I would just die like this! Please my golden finger!'

As the flame was about to devour him in a second, he suddenly hear a bell ringing in his head, and he quickly opened his golden finger.

Wait, What? Is this my golden finger? A chat group?! There's no way this would be able to help--

Before he was able to open the chat group interface, the flame already engulfed him and burned him alive. His last thought before he lost consciousness was if he reincarnated again in another world, he just hope that his unluckiness wouldn't follow him to his third life... if he did get another chance.

This fanfic is something I write in my spare time when I got small writer's block on writing my main novel (Restaurant). This is side project by the way... but I do also take this seriously since I am a big fans of fanfiction.

After all, my first story is also fanfiction lol.

Kaito groaned as he opened his eyes. His last memory is his golden finger was activated and before he got a chance to open his cheat, a big fireball burned him alive. 

He still vividly remembers how it feels to get burned in your whole body and swears that from now on, he doesn't want to get burned anymore.

He tried to sit, and quickly realize that he doesn't recognize where he is right now. Right now, he was sitting on top of the very comfortable and expensive bed, the room actually feels much bigger than his own room, and it also 'screams' luxurious in his thought.

"Where I am?" Kaito muttered.

After that, he notice that despite the pain and discomfort, there was actually no wound or rash appeared on his body. Even though he is sure he was burned alive before.

"I am still alive? God damn-- Ouch!"

He also noticed that the moment he muttered the word 'God', he suddenly fell ill and his head hurt a bit.

"Did I have become a devil? Did that prick Riser actually revive me?"

With his situation, Kaito thought that would be the only plausible explanation for how he becomes a devil. He is aware that Ravel shouldn't have her own Evil piece set yet, and only Riser does have it. Either way, he concludes Ravel probably begs his brother to save him, and because of that, he swears to repay her in some way later.

Also, with all that logic Kaito also knows that he should be inside the Phenex mansion right now.

Kaito might be unlucky, but he was also a bit smart and able to logically deduce information coming to him. After all, he was a proper working adult in his previous life.

'But why Ravel does want to revive me?'

As Kaito wondered about the answer to the question in his mind, he hears the sound of the door of the room knocking along with a girl voice.

"May I enter?"

"Yes." Kaito replied.

*Click*

The blonde girl Kaito was trying to save entered the room and approach his bed. This time he could fully recognize the girl's identity with her twin-tail hairstyle-- Ravel Phenex.

He realizes that the reason Kaito wasn't recognized by Ravel earlier was because he was impatient and he is also not familiar with Ravel with her twin-tails hairstyle.

"Are you okay?" Ravel asked with concern in her eyes.

Kaito nodded and answered, "It's still hurt everywhere but I am okay. 

"Good. I am sorry for what happened to you. After all, you have died to protect me." Ravel said as she bowed her head expressing her sorry.

"It is okay." Kaito answered. Kaito thought It is not fully Ravel's fault, after all, it was himself who choose to fight the gangsters.

"Unn."

"..."

Both Ravel and Kaito got into an awkward situation, their eyes meet but then both of them averted their eyes together because of embarrassment. Kaito was a virgin in his previous life, and the stare of a beautiful girl like Ravel is a bit too much for her.

*Cough*

To break the awkwardness, Kaito cleared his voice and asked, "How I am still alive?"

Kaito was already aware of the answer to his question but he just want to make sure his information was correct. Besides, it would be weird for him to know how he is still alive, as the supernatural world should be hidden from human eyes.

Ravel who hear Kaito's question nodded and answered, "Because my brother revived you."

"Revive? But how?" Kaito asked as he pretend to be confused.

"You have been revived as a devil with the help of my brother evil pieces. Also, you have been reincarnated as his pawn." Ravel explained.

"What is evil pieces? How it is able to revive me? What do you mean to become a devil? What is a pawn? Where is this?" Kaito continues to ask in succession as he really wants to show his confusion.

Again, Kaito is already aware of all of the answers to his question but just to make sure his information is correct. He needs to act like a normal clueless human who just entered the supernatural world or he would get into trouble.

"Umm... About this... I need to explain to you how the supernatural world works..." Ravel answered.

After that, Ravel gives Kaito a short explanation about the supernatural world and answered all of his questions. Ravel also tried her best to answer any questions that keep coming from Kaito and Kaito was really thankful for that. Ravel, on the other hand, feels really bad for Kaito because she knows that if she agreed with Kaito's suggestion or warned his brother before he attacked the gangster, Kaito wouldn't experience the taste of getting burned alive.

From what Kaito's able to gather from Ravel, there's nothing changed about the supernatural world despite his existence. Right now he is aware that the plot has not started, as Ravel tells him about her age and the situation between his brother and his fiancee. Since Rias is still in 2nd-year high school according to Ravel's information, it means that Kaito have the same age as Issei Hyoudou.

More importantly, since he has become a pawn under Riser's command he realized he would be fighting the protagonist of this world soon... As that's how the plot goes. Thankfully, he seems to have one year's worth of time to get stronger. 

Kaito determined his goal right now is to get stronger and repay the chance of second life that Ravel give him in the future.

At least, since he is aware of the plot, Kaito wouldn't let Issei hit Ravel later in the future Rating Game between Gremory and Phenex.

Kaito's goal is at least to get stronger than Issei with his cheating boosted gear when the Rating Game against Rias peerage in the future.

After Ravel patiently explained and answered all of the questions, Kaito slightly bowed his head and said, "Thank you for saving me, Ravel-sama."

"It should be who said that, Kaito-san." Ravel answered.

Kaito realized he didn't introduce himself yet and asked, "How do you know my name?"

Ravel smiled and answered, "Before all of your clothes get burned, I managed to secure your wallet and look at your identity."

Kaito raised his eyebrow and asked, "Then... Where is my wallet?" 

"Umm... here."

Ravel hesitantly put out a half-burned wallet from her pocket and give it to Kaito's hand. 

"Oh, thank god-- Ouch! Thank Satan my wallet is still intact!" Kaito excitedly said. Kaito thought that it seems his luck wasn't as bad as he thought.

However, that thought only lasted for a second, as when he opened his wallet, all of his possessions literally half-burned or almost entirely burned... Money, ID card, ATM card...

They are not gone, but they are not usable either. Staring at his half-burned ID card and money, he feels pain in his heart and feels so miserable.

...!!

"How unlucky!" Kaito exclaimed in sorrow.

All that happens while Ravel standing awkwardly beside him. It seems his bad luck still followed him even after he got revived.

Ravel tries to appease and cheer him up after his burned wallet tragedy as she told him to take more rest. The reason is, that tomorrow Kaito needs to join the training with the other peerage members as Riser ordered himself. 

Ravel especially mentioned that there's no excuse for Kaito to be absent or Riser would personally burn him again to death.

'Damn it, this fire chicken is surely ruthless' Kaito secretly complained.

However as much as he dislikes the threat Riser gives to him, he still complied with it and promised to Ravel that he would start training with the others from tomorrow. 

Ravel hearing Kaito's response nodded in satisfaction. Shortly after, she leaves the room because she got something to do, and Kaito once again is alone inside the luxurious room.

*Sigh*

Kaito let out of breath as he realizes his situation right now is really bad. He has become a member Riser Peerage. From original story, he knows the best that this man is actually a pervert who actually wants to collect a variety of girls as his harem members. With him, a normal human male without any ability or golden finger... entering his peerage, Kaito can imagine how bad Riser's treatment soon toward him.

'Wait, Power?'

Now Kaito just remembers, that before he got burned alive he should have his golden finger activated. 

'Multiverse Chat Group wasn't it?'

Based on its name alone, he quickly understood what his golden finger does. It is probably a chat group that would be connected to multiple worlds.

It seems as he predicted, this chat group would help him to get connected with other characters in another multiverse. The character who gets invited seems to be truly random, but Kaito will try to investigate it later.

Kaito who looked at the notification appeared in his mind and quickly analyze the situation in front of him. 

First, Kaito tried to recognize all the people who entered the chat group. 

Railgun girl was very easy to recognize. Kaito thought it should be Misaka Mikoto, A level 5 esper with electromagnetic power from 'A Certain Magical Index' series and protagonist of its side series 'A Certain Scientific Railgun' series.

Railgun was her nickname after all.

Kaito also quickly remembers Caped Baldy should be the nickname for the protagonist of the well-known series, Saitama from One Punch Man.

Well known for his power to solve all of his enemies with a single punch. Kaito feels a bit at ease knowing that one of the members of this chat group is well known as the strongest gag manga protagonist... his power is somewhat reliable after all.

Elementary Grade Magical Girl is quite hard to recognize for Kaito, after all, he remembers there is a lot of series that got an elementary grade magical girl theme on it. For example, there are Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya, Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha, Cardcaptor Sakura, etc. Kaito thought he need more information before he could determine the magical girl character's identity.

And lastly, Baroque Works Leader... it is also very easy for Kaito to recognize. He has confidence the identity of the last member should be Warlord Crocodile from One Piece. Again, Baroque Works was a mafia organization from One Piece, and the leader of it is Sir Crocodile.

Kaito calmly observed the chat group and find analyze the basic function of the chat group, chat room, and envelope transfer. The first function is pretty obviously the main function of this chat group, where he could see all the members 'chatting' inside the chat room. 

His prediction about all identities of the members seems correct. The academic city certainly only exists in A Certain Magical Girl Index and its off-canon series. 

Caped Baldy who is rushing toward the supermarket for discounts also a well-known habit from Saitama, the protagonist of One Punch Man.

Baroque Works Leader surely Crocodile from One Piece, without question even without concrete proof.

And lastly, Kaito is aware the identity of the magical girl should be Takamachi Nanoha since she said 'Yuuno' in her chat. Yuuno is the name of a ferret who is partnered with Nanoha during the first arc of Magical Lyrical Nanoha.

Well... watching the chat group members confused about what's going on with the interface that shows up in front of them, It seems rude for him as the owner of this chat group not to introduce himself. 

Looking at the situation, Kaito feel he need to greet all the other members and explained to them what happened in front of them.

After that, Kaito tried to chat inside the chat group but then the system quickly notified him that he need to set a nickname for himself before he was able to chat inside the chat group.

Kaito quickly put 'Owner' as his nickname since he literally the owner of the chat group.
