"Why?"

"I executed a traitor."

"Shinnosuke conspired with a Kiri spy." 

"He framed my men." 

"One dead, one crippled." 

"In any village, that's a capital offense." 

"Tell me, Hokage-sama…" 

"Was I wrong?" 

Hiruzen seethed. 

No proof. 

Only Yoru's word. 

But before he could retort— 

Shimura Danzō arrived, Root operatives in tow. 

Watching. 

Waiting. 

And the other clans? 

Their chakra signatures lingered at the edges— 

Silent. 

Judging. 

Hiruzen knew. 

He couldn't act rashly. 

Not with all of Konoha watching. 

He gritted his teeth. 

"Even if your claims were true…" 

"You are no longer Police. You had no authority to kill him!" 

Yoru smiled. 

"Then the Anbu had no authority to frame us." 

"If their crimes are tolerated…" 

"So are mine." 

Hiruzen snarled. 

"You have no evidence!" 

"Yamakaze's testimony is evidence." 

"ONE MAN'S WORD?!" 

"Then let the Anbu interrogate him." 

"They're experts at extracting truth, aren't they?" 

Hiruzen flinched. 

"Fine. Hand him over." 

Yoru laughed. 

"To you? The father of the man who ordered his torture?" 

"That's not justice." 

"Then who?!" 

Yoru's gaze shifted. 

To a silver-haired Anbu, masked but unmistakable— 

Hatake Kakashi. 

"Him." 

Kakashi's eye widened. 

Why me?! 

He knew this was a death sentence. 

No matter what he found— 

One side would hate him. 

The other would kill him. 

But Hiruzen nodded. 

"Kakashi. Investigate this." 

Kakashi sighed internally. 

"…Understood." 

Hiruzen turned back to Yoru. 

"Until the truth is clear…" 

"You will be imprisoned in the Anbu holding cells." 

"That's procedure." 

"Unless you refuse?" 

Yoru's smile didn't waver. 

"I accept." 

"Yoru—!" 

The Uchiha shouted in protest. 

Everyone knew— 

The Anbu cells were worse than death. 

But Yoru didn't care. 

Because— 

He had already won.

Had unlocked the next stage.
