Shen Yanye raised an eyebrow.

Beasts often mirrored their masters. With a creature like this, was its owner really as composed and reliable as Ling Fei claimed?

Shen Yanye didn't argue. He summoned a Foundation Establishment stage spirit beast.

"This spirit beast is still early in its cultivation, but it's a high-grade one." Shen Yanye explained. "It's not that I want to bully your Iron-Eating Beast. I simply don't have any weaker ones."

Was that a jab at Lord Gun Gun being weak?

Gun Gun immediately flailed about in protest.

Ling Fei looked at the Blazing Mantis and sighed inwardly. Indeed, for Shen Yanye, this was the weakest beast he had.

The Blazing Mantis, enraged beyond measure, charged with its sharp claws.

Ling Fei watched with his heart in his throat.

Gun Gun really wasn't going to dodge?

He didn't.

A silver-white glow appeared on Gun Gun's body.

The mantis's claws landed, making a loud, metallic boom!

Gun Gun stood unmoved. Only a small scratch appeared on its body.

It took the hit head-on?

Shen Yanye lowered his teacup, clearly surprised.

That had to be the Iron Armor skill.

This racial ability always awakened at Foundation Establishment, but it was notoriously hard to train.

The fastest way was to pile on Iron Armor Pills.

"Did Yun Jin give it Iron Armor Pills?" Shen Yanye asked.

"How long since it entered Foundation Establishment?"

Ling Fei thought for a moment. "Not even a month."

Shen Yanye frowned slightly, his interest piqued.

The Blazing Mantis didn't let up. With a loud shriek, it launched into a fierce flurry of attacks.

Gun Gun had not moved an inch. It had more scratches, but otherwise, it was perfectly fine.

Gun Gun scratched its ear. "Mantis bro, did you forget to eat today?"

The Blazing Mantis's eyes turned red with rage. With a roar, it coated its claws in fire and struck again. Flames surged. The mantis lashed out. Gun Gun was forced back two steps but still held its ground.

"Oh? Finally using real strength? Still weak!" Gun Gun taunted.

Flames burst from the Blazing Mantis's body. "If you're so strong, try fighting without your Iron Armor!"

How was this Iron Armor so tough?

They were both early Foundation Establishment. But it was a high-grade spirit beast. Yet it couldn't break through that defense!

It started feeling frustrated.

"Fine, I won't use it." Gun Gun shrugged. "But I hope you can handle my attacks."

"Come on, then!" the Blazing Mantis shouted, half-laughing in fury.

Gun Gun took a deep breath, then roared.

The bellow shook the air, raising clouds of dust. Before the mantis could react—

Gun Gun struck a dramatic pose, one paw on his waist, the other pointing skyward. "Say it—Lord Gun Gun is invincible!"

Of course, no one answered.

Ling Fei was dumbfounded. Even Shen Yanye stared in disbelief.

Roar and Charge were basic-level skills. Due to their limited power, most spirit beasts moved on to stronger, racial abilities.

But Gun Gun?

Shen Yanye could hardly believe it. Both skills had clearly reached level five.

Based on the Iron Armor's performance, it was at least level three.

Shen Yanye quickly retrieved the Blazing Mantis into his beast space and stared at Gun Gun like it was some little monster.

He sounded shocked too.

Gun Gun had actually defeated Shen Yanye's spirit beast.

Sure, Shen Yanye had only summoned a Foundation Establishment beast and hadn't used Beast Master skills.

But still, that was a high-grade spirit beast.

Gun Gun completely overpowered it.

Shen Yanye's gaze shifted several times, then finally settled.

"This time, I am genuinely interested in that Yun Jin you spoke of."
