Chapter 3: Eric
I sat down in my third-hour class. Algebra 2. Bryce was in this class, but Jax and Ginger weren't. Eric came in and sat down in front of me. "Hello, sweetheart."
I ignored him as I scrolled through my Instagram. "Hello. Mikayla." I continued to ignore him. "I would answer." He finally said.
I glanced up for a second, then looked back down. Not going to tolerate him. Then the desk in front of me was flipped. The whole class looked this way.
I glared at him. Still not tolerating it. "I suggest you listen when I'm talking to you." He yelled. I jumped up. Bryce came over and tried to get between us. Two guys from the room next door came in to see what was going on.
"You mess with her and you'll have to answer to me," Bryce told him. "I thought you already had a girlfriend," Eric asked him. "I do but you'd be getting me and another person whooping your ass," Bryce told him.
"You know Ray can't whoop me," Eric announced. "Wanna bet?" The whole class turned to the door. I sat down in my seat. Mr. Glasky came into the room as Eric said that.
"Straighten up this room. Eric goes to the principal now." He told the class and then looked directly at Eric. Bryce set the desk back the way it was and sat in it.
After class was over, we met up with Ginger. "Next time, let me hurt him," I told Bryce. He laughed. "Wanna bet?" He asked. "I wouldn't laugh if I were you," I told him. "Why?"
In a flash, I had one of his arms held behind his back. "Ow ow ow. Ok. Ok, I get it." He said. I released his arm. "Man, remind me not to tick you off." He said rotating his shoulder.
Jax came up next to me. "I just saw Eric in the office. What happened there?" He asked. "He got ticked off when I didn't respond to him," I told him.
"Flipped a desk and said that you can't whoop him," I added. "Sounds like he's scared I can," Jax said as we got to our next class. I sat down in my seat, and Jax was behind me once again.
Ginger sat next to me and Bryce in front of her as always. Eric came over and sat in front of me while I was on my phone, trying to ignore him. "Hey Mikayla, doing anything tonight?" He asked.
"Not with you," I told him. He chuckled. "Every girl has at least one night with me." He said. "How bout I dumb it down for you? I said no. Push it anymore, and I will personally throw you out into the hall." I told him, looking up and glaring at him.
"I don't think you understand what I'm saying, doll." He said. "Stand up," I told him, standing. He did as I told him. One minute until the bell.
I grabbed his shirt and threw him in the hall. "Oh, and don't call me doll," I told him before going back to my seat. I sat down as the bell rang. Mr. Buson came in just before Eric could enter.
Jax and Bryce both were chuckling. "Don't test me. I will do it to you both, too." I told them as our teacher passed out a paper. They both got quiet.
After class, we walked to the cafeteria. I sat in a booth with Ginger across from me. Jax sat next to me. Bryce came back with lunch for him and Ginger and sat next to her. I pulled out leftovers from last night and ate them.
"Jax, do you have money on your account?" Ginger asked. "Not really." "Didn't bring your lunch?" She asked next. He shook his head. I scooted closer and gave him my fork, then I got a plastic one.
He gave a weak smile and ate on one side of the bowl. I may have just met him today, but I'm not going to let a boy go hungry. That would be like starting World War four.
He ate half of it and left the rest for me. After we finished eating, Bryce and Ginger got up and left. Jax pulled his phone out and became intrigued by whatever it was.
Then, as quickly as he pulled it out put it away. "What class do you have next?" He asked. "Gym," I replied. "Wanna start heading over there?" He asked.
"Why?" I asked. "Because we have the same class." He chuckled. "Come on. How about we take a quick walk around the campus?" He said, standing up. I stood up and followed him.
He showed me the entire campus, not just the sophomore classes. A few of the teachers stopped us and talked to Jax. "No, they let me off for good behavior." He told one teacher.
"Are you sure you're not dragging this girl down with you?" A teacher asked. "No ma'am, I'm trying my best to stay away from trouble, and I plan on keeping my friends out of it." He told her.
"That's good. Tell your family I said hello." She said before we continued the small tour. "Most of the teachers know my family because three of my cousins and two siblings have already graduated from this school. The only ones who don't know the family are the new teachers.
"They will soon, though." He told me as we neared the gym. He held the door open for me before going in himself. We had to take our boots off before going into the gym.
I sat down as Jax did. So far, we are the first two in the gym. Once the bell rang, there were five of us in the gym. "Get to jogging. Ray, I want double from you." The coach said. "Yes, sir," Jax told the coach.
After five minutes of jogging, the coach told us to walk. Jax continued to jog for an extra five minutes. After the five was over, we had sit-ups to do.
"Need some help?" Jax asked as I struggled. "Please." He held my feet down as I did thirty sit-ups. Then he did it quickly. Finally, we could play basketball.
"How about a game of one-on-one?" He asked. "You're asking for trouble, aren't ya?" I asked. He shrugged before we started a small game.
