Chapter 8: Chapter 8: Record Breaking speeds ahead.



Date: Mörsugur 8th, 999. (Alt: 21st Dec, 999 AD.) Location: Götaland (Ancient Sweden.)

After doing the first (forest farm) he begins by checking if there is enough energy, there is not. He goes out to absorb some material, taking him about 3 hours in total. 

He flies back to deliver enough resources for the rest of the growing farming systems, 

(BTW, 01 / 64 of 2,250,000 km^(2) (868,730 mi^(2.)) =

35,156.25 km^(2) (13573.90 mi^(2.)) A HUGE LAND.

He collects a large basalt boulder, smoothes it down until it is circular, and then inserts it to the west of the (forest farm,) he repeats this process until he has a collection of circular boulders in the same dimensions as the forest in the same pattern. on each boulder the ᛟ (Heritage / Estate Rune,) ᚾ (Need / Hardship Rune,) ᛃ (Year / Harvest / Earth Rune) and ᚷ (Generosity / Gift / Spear Rune.) He added to his intent that they should grow themselves to be 1.5x bigger than their original size and stop, then repeat it continuously if broken.

As soon as he imbued energy into it, all the boulders suddenly grew to exactly 1.5x their size, He chipped a part of the boulder, and it grew back, he destroyed half of the boulder, one half grew back while the other was pushed out of the way. It is now self-sufficient. 

Heath was happy with this and absorbed that half and the chip of the boulder. There is still more than enough space for other farms, which he begins, it took him 2 minutes to reabsorb new energy thanks to the (basalt stone farm) for the making of new farms, He expanded the (forest farm) to the north and south, making it cover 03 / 64th of the area, then he makes a (building / quartz sandstone farm) that can be crushed to their respective sand to the north of the stone farm, then a (granite / limestone farm) to the south of the (basalt stone farm.)

With the (forest farm) being the central piece, he makes a (copper / iron ingot farm) to the east. Rather than using the ore, he created the ingots and edited his intent to instead self-replicate and create 8 extra (non-runic) copies of itself on all horizontal axes.

Then to the south of the (copper / iron ingot farm) Heath collects as much Granite, Limestone and Building Sand, crushing it into a powder and using a partial aggregate, he makes a form of primitive concrete. He creates standard concrete bricks that would then be under the same replication process as the (copper / iron ingot farm.) On the other half, he uses the quartz sandstone and glazes it, creating a glass pane that is 1 x 3 x 3 concrete bricks, all are entirely stackable. Becoming a (concrete brick / glass farm.)

8 / 9 spaces from the central area are taken, leaving 1 / 9th of the area for a normal farm. Thus, he removed large swathes of grass that are the same size as all other square farms, to create tracts of dirt where one can farm any fruits or veggies as needed.

Meaning in total, the farms cover 9 / 64 of the total area. There is a small area between each of the farms about 2-m (6.5616 feet) across. Using the (copper / iron ingot farm) and (forest farm) he makes a large steel fence that goes around the entire area, with entrances in all cardinal directions for each one. And the best part. Heath can create the same runes for a sky above them, then use it as an additional floor. It can be stacked until it reaches the cavern's ceiling. Meaning a great upgradable nature that could lead to potential automation.

There are 4 entrances for the 6 farms that are beside the (forest farm.) Thanks to the extra area and being connected to the 6 farms, The (forest farm) has 8 entrances. The small area beside the fences that are still clear are made barren and paved for people to walk upon.

Under a similar process as making concrete, mortar can be made as well. That does not have its own farm because it would naturally dry too quickly and would not be easy to store. So they make it on hand with the powders. Now, 55 / 64 of the area is still available for development, being just grasslands that may be teeming with insects if they spread from the (forest farm.) '. . . Wait a minute, I don't want that.' Heath changes part of his plan to not cause any potential infestations upon the home areas around the farms.

Due to that sudden thought, Heath turns the fence around the (forest farm) into a full steel meshed concrete brick wall at 4 meters tall with an outward angled top to stop crawling insects. Now the farms are done, "I'm proud of this work, how long did it take?"

Heath stares at the cave's ceiling, seeing it is about 5 - 6 PM from the 'Sun's' position. To the north wall. He creates an enlarged circle with concrete bricks, mortar and steel meshing that would fit 7 of his shoulder-width side by side. More than enough space for the wheelbarrows he would create soon. Though, he pauses. Now thinking that his mindset is too small. "Rather than just creating a wheelbarrow and forcing their transportation across a large distance, I could use Valheim's concept with that teleportation gate and shorten it. . ." Heath mused.

Instead of stone, Heath created a concrete circular frame and created a base with tactile flooring to help with mobility and transportation, making it similar to a Star Gate from. . . Stargate, obviously. There will be a space for the runes across the frame.

From there, Heath adds the ᛉ (Protection / Shield / Elk,) ᛇ (Yggdrasil / Yew Tree / Dream Rune,) ᚱ (Horse / Ride / Journey / Thor Rune,) ᛟ (Heritage / Estate Rune,) ᚾ (Need / Hardship Rune,) ᛗ (Man / Human / Self Rune,) ᚠ (Cattle / Livestock / Wealth Rune) and ᛖ (Horse / Twin Forces Rune.) There was a total of 10 spaces upon the front space, leaving two more that are currently left empty. Heath added to his intent that these should connect a space as one, and allow for free travel between realms to a destination of their choice in an instant.

Then, Heath added in a hidden function that it should block all people with malicious intentions that could lead to harm to the Völsung Clan and its allies. After imbuing energy into it, a flicker from the portal signals that it is successful. He recreates it as a template.

Heath zips past through the land, expending more energy like last time to reduce the risk of being found again. Seeing that the Clan's guards are on high alert, he is happy to see this. He changes back and walks through the forest area in front of the south gate to signal them that he is done. They respond by giving nods and opening the gate. Throughout the process, he scans their auras in case there are any hidden spies within their ranks. . .

There are none, and Heath's high perception would have been able to detect as necessary.

Heath, scanning the village, finding no 'mystifying' elements, he lingers for a bit before meeting up with Gorm. "What is the password?" Gorm asks, as said by Heath beforehand. "Humuhumunukunukuāpuaʻa." With a successful password, Gorm smiles and pats him on the back. "How did it go dealing with those beasts in your cavern?" Gorm then asks afterwards. "Went very well, I also got the runic structure for the ceiling and floor right. Now it should act as if it was very fertile ground under a clear sky with changeable weather." Heath explains.

"How will we travel to there?" Eirikr walks in with a stoic, yet slightly positive demeanour. "I thought of a better solution than walking with wheelbarrows. We can go through portals." Heath states with enthusiasm. They look dumbfounded as the word portal is new to them.

"A portal is like the Bifrost, except that rather than having the capacity to travel throughout the nine realms at will, you have to travel to the two locations you want first physically, then set the one or more points down." Heath explained further for them, bringing everyone into the loop. Throughout this process, he kept on scanning for any Dökkálfar signatures nearby. Luckily, there were none. From the template and some excess material he carried with him. He created a portal to the South of the Main Hall building.

"What you have done is something thought impossible to create, how long did it take you to make this?" Egill was doing his best to comprehend the functions of the portal. "I thought of the concept when I was thinking of faster travelling this morning." Heath responds honestly.

"Gods and their different way of thinking than mortals. . ." Egill grumbles his annoyance, Eirikr nods slightly at Egill's process. "While you already replanted the trees, creating the portal in front of this side of the entrance would have been easier." Eirikr stated to Heath. Heath is embarrassed but holds his ground. "You would be right, and I am sorry for that. I will think of something to make up for the scare I gave you all." Heath mutters, everyone is silent from his proclamation, with faces that show they are hiding their expressions again.

Eirikr breaks character and gave a small chuckle, startling everyone. This put Heath on high edge and silently scanned him, it came out with no strange Dökkálfar signature. "You do not need to worry, you already gave us more than enough." Eirikr smiled with warmth.

Heath goes quiet for a moment. ". . . Thank you, and I will continue helping your people, as you are all my family in this world. You have provided much for me, and while it has only been 2 days. I already feel at home." Heath proclaims with a melancholic yet calm undertone. Asdos, after understanding Heath's character, pats him on the back with some slight lingering fear, yet powers through it with determination. "And you have been a family to us as well." Asdos hushes in a quiet tone. Heath gave a gentle hug, with brotherly intentions.

After letting go. "As well, while my armour is good protection and serves me in a pinch. To protect you all, I wish to learn your battle skills. When I had my axe or sword. I simply swung it or drove it through the enemy closest to me, which is easily dodgeable." Heath asks Eirikr.

Eirikr thinks about this. "Of course, we can. Though can you not use your magic to similarly accelerate or strengthen yourself to increase attack power in conjunction with what you do?" Eirikr's thoughts made Heath fumble in himself, thinking it through. ". . . I could have done that? Well, I was just an idiot then and could have easily disabled that Dökkálfar." Heath mumbles to himself self-dejectedly. "It is not your fault, you said it yourself that you are a creator, a scientist. You do not have our battle experience." Others are sympathetic. 

"We learnt from 4 Winters old how to use axes, bows, shields and spears. We have had to focus entirely on living in our environment with no chance for development, with you here. As the Clan Leader said, it allows us to become something greater." Egill says with shining eyes.

"The Clan Leader said 'it is a chance.' Meaning we could also regress in martial skills. We must learn to balance Heath's knowledge with our long-standing traditions." Eirikr agrees but counterpoints Egill. All around nods in unison. Heath is happy to see they are doing their best to be independent while also accepting his new knowledge. "Now, we have been chatting for a long while. I will use my portal to collect some steel to make the wheelbarrows. Then I will come back for all of you to go to what will be your land as much as mine." Heath finishes.

"Thank you, Heath. And your armour has been perfect for our needs. But to fit our 375-strong unit, we need a lot more than 10." Egill states, being too obvious in his thoughts that he wishes to study the armour for its techniques used. The cheeky sod.

"Do not worry. You see my armour?" Heath asks. "You mean the armour only you could wear? Yeah, we noticed." Using a faux-snarky tone that matches Heath's own jokes sometimes, Heath chuckled but responded, happy that they were very comfortable with him. "I am planning to create this armour but make it work similar to Draupnir, the self-replicating ring." Thinking of how he designed his farms, he would replicate much of the runes and make it replicate with a second set of runes that are 'Mennskr Friendly.' They are unsurprised.

"Just make sure you do not pull any foolery, you do not want our world encased in uncountable sets of armour." Asdos speaks with more bravery than usual. This makes Heath chuckle even louder, leading to a laugh. "Do not worry, I know what I am doing."

"Just do not tire yourself too badly, while you note you have done worse within that other realm. We still saw how voraciously you ate at the Dining Hall afterwards. It obviously took much out of you." Gorm says, suddenly appearing from his doorway with a comforting smile. "Thank you, Gorm." Heath is happy his friend is here, though Heath's anxiety takes much out of him and silently scans him, no strange Dökkálfar signature either, good. Heath goes through the portal to the other side and makes the steel necessary for the wheelbarrows.

Then, he creates the flat-bed wheelbarrows, they are large and can hold from their steel cart wheels. Their dimensions being 1.5 x 0.7-m (4.9212 x 2.2966-feet.) They can allow easy transportation of about 350 Kg (771.6170 Lbs) He recreates it as a template as well.

He makes 200 of these wheelbarrows and transports them through the portal. Gorm is ready with about 90% of the people in the area, they are gathered and crowded. It seems it was the end of a speech. "- and we will fight the Dökkálfar if they invade our new home, but under Heath's helpful hand, we shall triumph and become greater than we ever shall!" Gorm finishes his speech, which causes the crowds to cheer. "How many did you count?" Heath asks Egill. Egill responds with quick calculative precision one would not expect.

"There are about 1,165 people. That means there are 130 people left before we get to leave tomorrow." Egill makes an accurate guess from the number of visible heads. "That is good, though I will teach you higher arithmetic. That will help with your counting." Heath jests.

Egill takes it very seriously though. "I will look forward to that when I can even go to higher levels of critical thinking." With a smile, Egill walks off to help give the people their respective wheelbarrows and for them to place their belongings upon it. Some of the more affluent parts of the Völsung Clan use their slaves to pull the carts in line towards the portal. 'I should really help them break out of their habit of using slavery.' Heath thinks deeply on the issue, knowing that they are slaves due to them originally being criminals or just for general labour.

This causes Gorm to see him in deep contemplation. "Is everything alright?" Gorm asks, hoping it is nothing serious. Heath fumbles a bit before falsely responding. "I am wondering how we can warn your son for once he returns." Heath remarks with realistic concern.

This is actually a good call, and Gorm speaks a part of his plan. "He will return in 3 nights time. I will be on the other side of your portal for me to meet him." Gorm fact-checks this with Egill, with more liveliness in his demeanour than before. "Only a day has passed from the procedure and you wish to do something so taxing already?" Heath chides Gorm as friendly banter. Though Gorm looks at him with more seriousness than usual. "You want me to stay with you, to greet your son, eh?" Heath's guess is given a nod of agreement.

"With how serious of a threat the Dökkálfar are, meeting the Völsung Clan's saviour who knows their weaknesses will help my son become a greater warrior, as you would call it. 'Learning a meta strategy.' And I want to see how he reacts to you." Gorm was mirthful.

'Because suddenly meeting an 8-foot-tall man in incredibly intricate armour would not scare somebody. Nuh uh.' "*HUFF* That's not my only knowledge. Alright, but if he reacts by trying to start a fight with me, know that you owe me an ale." Heath jokes fully, "And we will give you the best ale there is." Gorm declares, fully committed. "And about ale, have you got enough seeds for farming the crops and making alcohol?" Heath asks Gorm, worried he had need to do last-minute packing. But it is unfounded, as Gorm nods to his words. 

"Enough room for us to bring our boar and goats?" Gorm asks back. "Yes, one-half of the field is for farming, the other half is for creatures. I also abducted some of the forest animals and made an underground forest, even larger than the one we are standing in." Heath notes. 

Gorm shakes his head and sighs. "You and your overwork, you are going to tire yourself out at some point. How about we have another feast later?" Gorm asks, hoping for a yes. Because not just for Heath, it is also for the stressed people who had to suddenly move out of their homes. "Of course, and I can see that concern in your eyes. The people will be fine. They are lined up and ready for travel, and my 'eyes' could tell if any are hidden enemies, so you do not need to worry your head off." Heath shrugs and rolls his eyes, smirking.

"Anybody would be worried knowing that a sudden enemy visit occurred, not just from the raid that occurred on us a few years ago. There were other cases from our scouts that another may occur soon, we have been losing too many good people." Gorm posits tiredly.

"And you no longer need to worry, the portal only allows for 'allies of the Völsung Clan' to pass through, a direct transcript." Heath contextualises, a weight is now off Gorm's shoulders, knowing his loved ones are safe. There are still pangs of uncertainty, putting his full trust into another stranger, but they have been dying down. His past experiences would tell him to err on the side of caution while these plans are in fruition. But they have also been happening less since he began spending close time with Heath, as if he was the assurance.

Gorm does not know if it is because of Heath's powers or if it is because he is a naturally likeable person just yet. But he assumes it is both. As it plays too easily into whatever 'plan' Heath had, Gorm simply keeps it to himself, knowing that they would be better off after.

". . . I feel like I should be annoyed, but I at least understand why we could trust Heath back then." Gorm commented lightheartedly. The others nod around him. They felt fine with it and knew that Heath's actions were honest, the feeling of his magic or thoughts playing intrinsically through him, Heath could have easily massacred their people with what they believe is his fantastical power. And if it was a long-con, he would have already shown tell-tale signs of being manipulative or guileful. Heath appeared scary, but his 'aura' was pure.

People like Gorm thought more of him as a trained wolf, easy to stop intruders but one too eager to be helpful. A thought process all who knew him began to agree with, they knew he would be easy to manipulate and they wished to reduce that risk for him.

Gorm vowed to himself to try to protect Heath's character, causing him to be less easily trusting of strangers he had just met, however. This may change once they 'figured it out.'
