Travelling through the interstellar world, starting with the real and fake daughter

Chapter 232 - The Anonymous Sender

When Mai Zixuan said he had received messages that were likely from their father, Mai Dongzi immediately leaned over to check the messages on his light-brain.

There was no signature on the messages, and the sender’s identity was anonymous, making it impossible for them to trace or contact the sender.

The reason Mai Zixuan believed the messages were from their father was that they contained information about the apocalyptic purge—information that both siblings were very familiar with.

The content of these messages matched what they had previously read in that book from their original world.

Whoever sent these messages must have read the same book that they had once read.

“This person must be like us—someone who read the book in our original world and then transmigrated into this world. Otherwise, they couldn’t possibly know this information,” Mai Dongzi said.

“If they’re sending me these messages at such a dangerous time, it must be to help me. But what’s more important is this—back in our past life, when you came to save us, I happened to slip that book into my backpack. Later, Dad, out of boredom, took it and read it. Since he was reading it, I never got the chance to finish the second half,” Mai Zixuan explained.

However, Mai Dongzi knew the real reason why Mai Zixuan never had time to finish the book.

It wasn’t because their father was reading it—it was because not long after, Mai Zixuan had sacrificed himself.

Mai Dongzi agreed with Mai Zixuan’s reasoning.

“If it’s really Dad, and he was able to send messages directly to my light-brain, then that means he already knows who I am. But why hasn’t he contacted me directly?” Mai Zixuan wondered in confusion.

The fact that Mai Zixuan received these messages confirmed Mai Dongzi’s suspicion—their parents had also been reborn into this world.

Mai Zixuan’s past actions—drawing attention to himself on the StarNet and even pushing their names onto the trending list—had been the right move.

Their father must have found out about them through that method. However, for some unknown reason, he chose not to reunite with them.

Now that the apocalypse was approaching, knowing that his children had also transmigrated into a book, their father must have been unable to suppress his concern for them.

Even though the book was originally brought home by Mai Zixuan, their father might not have been sure whether he had actually read it.

That was why he had sent those messages—sharing “future knowledge”—to help his children prepare for the apocalyptic purge.

Since the messages were very likely from their father, the siblings were determined to find a way to contact him.

Mai Zixuan tried to trace the anonymous sender, but he couldn’t find anyone with the necessary authority to access such sensitive data.

However, Mai Dongzi immediately thought of Vice Officer Chen.

Even though the messages were anonymous, someone with Vice Officer Chen’s clearance could easily uncover the sender’s identity.

It wouldn’t be a difficult task for him.

Although Mai Dongzi hadn’t directly contacted Vice Officer Chen in over a year, she was confident that he would still be willing to help.

Just as she was about to dial his communication number, she suddenly hesitated—thinking about the contents of the messages.

If she asked Vice Officer Chen for help, he would undoubtedly see the messages as well.

And Vice Officer Chen was no ordinary person. If he noticed something unusual about these messages, there was a risk that he might uncover too much.

But with the apocalypse looming, she couldn’t afford to delay.

If their parents were truly in this world, she had to find them before the apocalypse arrived.

Then, Mai Dongzi thought of someone else she hadn’t contacted in over a year—Prince Arthur.

He had also read the book in their previous world, so if he saw the content of the messages, he would probably just be shocked that another person had transmigrated into this world through the same book.

Time had already proven her past fears wrong.

Prince Arthur knew her true identity and had helped her many times, he had never harbored any ulterior motives.

Given the current situation, even if Prince Arthur realized that Mai Dongzi might know his true identity, he neither had the time nor the mood to care about it.

After some thought, Mai Dongzi’s urgency to find her parents overpowered all other concerns, and she decided to call Prince Arthur.

However, Prince Arthur didn’t answer immediately. Instead, he sent back a short message:

“Please wait a moment. I’ll get back to you soon.”

This meant that Prince Arthur was busy but would return her call once he was available.

On the other end of the Call, Prince Arthur was in the study, discussing matters with King Guga.

When he saw that the incoming call was from Mai Dongzi, his expression subtly changed.

Ordinary people might not have noticed this change, but King Guga, who was sitting directly across from him, was no ordinary person.

In recent years, father and son had spent a lot of time together, and King Guga understood his eldest son extremely well.

The subtle shift in Prince Arthur’s gaze did not escape his keen observation.

More importantly, no one in the empire dared to speak as bluntly to Prince Arthur as King Guga did.

“Is it that little girl calling?” King Guga raised an eyebrow and asked.

Prince Arthur remained silent. Answering yes or no would both be problematic.

Seeing his son’s reaction, King Guga sighed and advised:

“If you truly like her, then act quickly. Don’t assume she’ll always wait in the same place for you. If you let the person you like slip away too easily, you’ll regret it.”

Prince Arthur could tell that his father’s words carried a hidden meaning, likely alluding to his own past regrets regarding the former Empress.

He knew that King Guga was already aware of Mai Dongzi’s existence, and he had never intended to hide it.

However, he hadn’t expected King Guga to have investigated Mai Dongzi’s background so thoroughly.

His father’s words did influence him, disrupting his train of thought and leaving him somewhat distracted.

Seeing his son’s preoccupied expression, King Guga didn’t press further. Since the remaining matters weren’t urgent, he simply dismissed him.

Prince Arthur returned to his room, intending to clear his mind.

However, he couldn’t shake the concern that Mai Dongzi might be reaching out for something urgent.

After a brief hesitation, he decided to return her call.

After a few moments, a girl’s voice came through the FeiXun:

“Hello!”

Prince Arthur proved to be efficient.

Not only did he quickly identify the person who had sent the anonymous messages to Mai Zixuan, but he also managed to track down their current location.

When Mai Dongzi received the information, Mai Zixuan was impatient to look as well.

He eagerly leaned in, hoping to view the details together, but Mai Dongzi had not enabled the sharing function and even told him not to disturb her.

Frustrated, Mai Zixuan had no choice but to wait patiently.

However, when his sister read the information, her expression first turned strange, then gradually darkened, revealing clear concern. Yet, she remained silent.

Unable to hold back any longer, Mai Zixuan finally asked, “Sis, what’s wrong? Did you not find any relevant information?”

Mai Dongzi didn’t know how to explain it to him immediately, so she simply shared the information with him.

When Mai Zixuan saw the name of the person suspected to be their father’s reincarnation, he looked at Mai Dongzi in disbelief and asked,

“Sister, this… Is this Atom… really…?”
