Chapter 297: Chapter 297: Death
Ten minutes earlier.
A white-haired man was flying through the air toward Ginza, holding a phone to his ear.
"What did you say!?"
The wind howling around him drowned out the voice on the other end.
"Can't hear a thing with all this wind," Gojo Satoru muttered as he gently landed on a rooftop. "Alright, I'm down. What did you say just now, Ijichi?"
"I said it looks like things are already over on Miss Yukinoshita's side," Ijichi Kiyotaka's voice finally came through clearly.
"No way." Gojo Satoru laughed. "She sure moves fast. I guess I was just being overly worried. I mean, she *did* beat me, after all. Probably no need to be so cautious."
"Miss Yukinoshita also said the enemy seems to have left Ginza for now, but there's a chance they might show up somewhere else."
"Got it. Tell all the assistant supervisors and contact points in each area to stay alert. We're still on the back foot here and can only respond to enemy attacks."
"Understood."
The call ended. Gojo Satoru stuffed the phone into his pocket, but didn't take off again.
He clicked his tongue and stood there with his hands in his pockets, staring at the empty rooftop.
"Well, since you're already here, why not show yourself? Or are you just too ugly to be seen in public?"
Right after he said that, little black particles began to appear in the air, quickly gathering into a cloud of black mist in front of Gojo Satoru.
The mist took the shape of a person, but its head had no clear features—only flickering red lights like tiny arcs of electricity.
"So, you're Gojo Satoru." A hoarse, deep voice came from the black mist, sounding like an old, broken bellows. "As promised, I'm here to bring you death."
The white-haired man let out a helpless sigh, his head drooping a little. "Man, do all cursed spirits have to do this same routine?"
Gojo Satoru shrugged and said, "The last one who talked tough in front of me had a volcano for a head. Want to guess what happened to him?"
"I don't care," the black mist replied in a flat tone.
But Gojo kept talking anyway, not caring if the other side was listening. "I pulled his head right off, you know. It was hilarious!"
"But you… you don't even have a head I can pull off." Gojo rubbed his chin and took a good look at the shadowy figure only a few meters away.
"What even are you?"
"I am death."
As soon as the words left its mouth, the black mist suddenly turned into a flash of red lightning and shot straight at Gojo.
But just when the lightning was about to hit him, it froze in place just centimeters from his nose. The red light stopped moving, as if time itself had been paused. It couldn't move forward anymore.
"Come on now, no need to rush," Gojo said with a slight smirk, calm as ever.
The red lightning trembled a bit.
Then, as if giving up, it pulled back and turned into the black mist figure once again.
"So this is the Limitless Technique that Kenjaku talked about?" the hoarse voice said, with red sparks flickering where its head should've been.
"Oh? That's an interesting name I just heard." Gojo raised an eyebrow behind his black blindfold. "Kenjaku... that's the guy who uses that brain thing to take over people's bodies, right?"
A swirling black spiral suddenly opened next to the shadowy figure. At the same time, a familiar voice rang out. "That's right. Kenjaku is indeed my name."
Suguru Geto, wearing the five-lined monk robes, stepped out from the spiral with his hands tucked into his wide sleeves and a faint smile on his face.
Gojo turned to look at Kenjaku, chuckled a little, and said, "Something good happened today, so I'm in such a great mood that even seeing your face doesn't make me angry."
"You should feel lucky for that."
"Is that so?" Kenjaku grinned. "It's an honor, really. Looks like this face still has its uses."
"I'm not the strongest anymore, you know," Gojo said.
"That's just fake news you're spreading to mess with people. You think I'd change my target based on a single rumor?" Kenjaku said confidently.
"So your target this time... is me?" the white-haired man asked, a little surprised.
"No. My goal is the entire world."
Kenjaku smiled and pulled out a red cube from his sleeve. It looked like it was made of flesh and blood.
The moment he moved, the black mist figure burst apart and rushed toward Gojo like a violent storm.
"Told you it won't work…" Gojo started, but then suddenly frowned.
The black mist surrounded him, and sharp spikes formed within it, stabbing toward him.
Even though the neutral Limitless barrier still held firm and kept the attacks out, Gojo's Six Eyes noticed something was different from before—something had subtly changed.
What's going on?
Cursed energy… is fading?
He could feel it—the barrier built by the Limitless technique was slowly weakening.
If he didn't push more cursed energy into the technique soon, the barrier would be broken within thirty seconds.
This was the first time… no, the second time that the Limitless Technique had been broken by a technique alone.
The first time was when Zenin Toji used that special cursed tool. So what was it this time?
Noticing Gojo Satoru's confusion, red sparks of electricity started crackling around the black mist, and a rough, low voice followed:
"Everything, in the end, moves toward death."
"Even cursed energy is no exception."
The power to bring death to all things—that is the Curse of Death Technique.
"Is that so? Sounds like a pretty annoying technique," Gojo replied.
As he spoke, he clapped his hands together and vanished from the mist, reappearing on the edge of the rooftop.
"Stop struggling already," Kenjaku said with mockery in his voice. "Your time as a sorcerer ends today."
"Is that right?"
The white-haired man replied casually, then started to loosen up his body, saying,
"Too bad for you—I'm not the type to sit around and wait to die."
He reached up and tore off the blindfold from his eyes, revealing a glowing pair of bright blue eyes.
