Chapter 15: Pavilion (4)
"Apologize to Master Kuangge right now, you worm." Iris, who had been silently observing on the sidelines ever since Ye Fan appeared, couldn't hold back her anger any longer and spat coldly.
It was clear that she was extremely upset right now.
No, upset might not be the right word for it.
She was downright livid.
After all, this fucking pathetic piece of shit had the gall to curse and even insult the person she cherished the most in this life.
And although she knew that this insult was bound to come eventually since a similar scene like this had occured in the Pavilion back in her previous life, she simply just couldn't hold it back in when she thought that she could.
"What? Worm? What are you sa-"
"Shut up and apologize now." Iris interruped Ye Fan and repeated herself again.
"..." Ye Fan was at a loss for words now.
This wasn't how the plan was suppose to go down at all.
As a matter of fact, Iris was suppose to be backing him up here.
But now, she was actually going out of her way to defend Ronald?
It's almost as if last night was repeating itself again!
But how could that actually be?
Iris was genuinely his right-handed woman whom he had known for a couple of years, not some random stranger he had met just now!
Although there were many questions flowing through his head right now, Ye Fan decided to just hold off on asking them for now and thought of a way to change the situation.
Thankfully, he didn't even need to do anything since there was an idiot here that was stupid enough to make things worse on himself.
"Hey, do you not have eyes and ears or something? Does it really look like I need a shitty pavilion maid like you backing me up right now?" Ronald suddenly grabbed Iris's shoulder and furiously shouted.
Even though he was confused as to why Iris was trying to defend him at this point considering that Ye Fan has shown up now, he felt that he needed to fully focus on making Iris so angry at him that she wouldn't be able to defend him any longer no matter what she was ordered to do, otherwise this plot was going to end up as a failure.
And what better way to do that than to agressively grab her shoulders and yell at her for no reason?
"B-but I was only-"
"There is no buts! Because of you, everyone here is going to that I need a shitty pavilion maid to protect me against some country bumpkin now!" Ronald tightened his grip over Iris's shoulders a bit more, "I've never felt more humiliated in my entire life! How are you going to make this up to me?"
"I..." Iris was about to say something when she saw the extremely angered look on Ronald's face and she couldn't help but tremble lighty.
Honestly, she wanted to tell him that she was willing to compensate him by willingly become his maid, just like she had done when Ye Fan ordered her to do so in her previous life as well.
For some reason though, Ronald is clearly much more angry at her now than he was in her previous life, and she was afraid that he was going to reject her offer.
And if that were to actually happen...
Well, she didn't even want to fathom what she was going to do then.
'No, but wait, there's no way he would reject me.'
Right, Iris was so focused on Ronald's anger towards her this entire time that she had completely forgotten...
How kind-hearted he actually was.
That's right, although Ronald was most definitely cruel as well as arrogant, even more so than most of the other rich second-generations out there, he genuinely cared for people who seems to have it bad in life, whether he even realizes this or not.
The best evidence for this was when he had still taken her in back in her previous life despite the fact that she had technically spat in his face the day before she showed up.
With that in mind, Iris took a deep breath, mustered all of the courage she could, and finally stated...
"I'll make it up to you by quitting this pavilion right now and dedicate the rest of my life to you as your maid instead."
The moment Iris finished talking, all of the outlookers, who were already shocked by the development of this entire situation, couldn't help but become shocked even more to the point that they were now questioning their sanity.
Sure, they can understand the pavilion maid sticking up for Ronald instead of Ye Fan since she was afraid of him, but to suggest actually quitting this pavilion just to work for him when Ronald himself didn't even mention anything about that yet?
That was absurd, no matter how anyone looks at it!
Even Ye Fan was flabbergasted at the situation, and he subconsciously emit killing intent towards Ronald's way.
He was suppose to be the one under the spotlight right now, not that brainless asshole!
He swore to himself once again that he will definitely take revenge on the entirety of the Kuangge family the moment he has the ability to do so.
Ronald, who had felt Ye Fan's killing intent, also complained in his heart.
'What the hell are you getting mad at me for?'
'If there's someone you want to blame, blame it on the fucking heroines for not sticking to their original personality, not me.'
'And fuck you too, Ye Fan, for being too big of a pussy and not doing a- hey wait a second...'
'Now that I really think about it, could it be that Ye Fan actually ordered Iris to try and gain my trust early on so that he can send her to my side easier tomorrow instead?'
He had been so under the impression that Iris was going to back up Ye Fan in this plot eventually that he hadn't even considered a possibility like this.
However, now that he has thought about it closely, this would make actual sense as to why Iris has been trying so desperately to stick up for him this entire time.
Besides, it also made sense for Ye Fan to do this actually, especially after the humiliation he faced last night.
Right, now Ronald was absolutely positive that this was the case.
And if that's what Ye Fan wants, then he also might as well try and bring Iris to his side today so he doesn't have to waste his time waiting for her to show up at his doorsteps tomorrow.
'Wow, the plot going astray actually benefitted me for once.'
"That's not enough considering how worthless your life is to me at the moment, but since you're so passionate about it, then fine, I'll give you this one chance." Ronald said as he looked at Iris disdainfully.
"T-thank you, thank you so much, Young Master Kuangge, I promise I'll-" Before Iris could finish speaking however...
"Who gave you permission to quit?"
