Transformers Prime: I am Allspark

Chapter 107: The Touch Part 67 // Light and Darkness Part 8

The tunnel stretched before them like an endless void, draped in absolute darkness. The only light came from their optics set to maximum brightness, guiding their path forward. The walls were rough and ancient, etched with time's scars and inscriptions nearly worn away by countless cycles. As they advanced, Alpha Trion broke the silence, his voice echoing softly through the narrow corridor.

"When my library was built, it was over this ancient military tunnel, used in the war against the Quintessons, millions of years ago."

Orion frowned, now everything made sense. He remembered well the arsenal of Decepticon Knights' weapons stored in that hidden chamber, and he wondered how Alpha Trion had relocated them unnoticed. Now he knew, it all started here.

Elita walked beside Orion, watching his thoughtful expression. After a moment, she spoke, curiosity and a touch of concern coloring her voice. "Aren't you nervous?"

Orion turned to her, puzzled. "Nervous?"

She offered a small smile before continuing.

"You're about to become a Prime, like Alpha Trion." Her words fell upon him like silent thunder. Orion said nothing, holding his gaze steady on the path ahead. What could he say? That he felt unready? That he still struggled with what Primus saw in him?

Alpha Trion, walking just ahead, smiled quietly. He was relieved that, of all the bots, it was his apprentice who had been chosen.

As they pressed deeper into the tunnel, Elita broke the silence with a curious question. "And how about you, Alpha? What was it like when you became a Prime?"

The old Prime glanced at her, then at his apprentice, seeing Orion's nervous tension, and decided to ease the moment with a touch of levity. "I didn't become a Prime," he said, "My fellow Primes and I were born into it, so let's just say we skipped the 'proving our worth' phase and got straight to the hard part."

Elita raised an eyebrow, arms crossed. "That sounds a bit unfair, doesn't it?"

"It depends on your perspective," Alpha Trion shrugged, "We were forged with purpose from the start. Leading Cybertron was the challenging part, we had no luxury of choice. Now Orion…" He cast a sidelong glance at his apprentice, "He's unprecedented."

"Because I wasn't born a Prime." Orion said, unable to contain his anxiety.

Alpha Trion nodded. "Exactly, you weren't destined for it from birth, yet now you stand on the threshold of becoming one by your own right. That has never happened before, Orion, you're not just inheriting a legacy, you're creating a new one."

Elita smiled. "So, technically, Orion will be the first 'hand made' Prime, that's kind of amazing."Orion exhaled, feeling the weight of those words. Alpha Trion let out a light chuckle.

"Let's just hope it comes with a lifetime warranty."

They resumed their walk in reverent silence, tension hanging in the air like static electricity. The tunnel stretched on endlessly, until Alpha Trion suddenly stopped. He gazed at the metal floor beneath his feet and, in a voice solemn and charged with meaning, declared, "Primus, the rest is up to you."

Instantly, the Cybergliphs etched into the walls and floor ignited with light, complex patterns pulsing with primordial energy. The tunnel trembled with ancient power, and the metal plates beneath their feet began to shift, sliding aside to reveal a yawning abyss below. From the chasm emanated a blinding light, so intense and pure that it obscured everything beyond its radiance.

Alpha Trion turned to Orion, his optics filled with paternal pride. "From this point forward, your journey is yours alone."

Orion nodded, feeling the gravity of the moment. He spoke no words, knowing none were necessary, only steeled himself for the leap. But just as he prepared to advance, he felt a firm hand grip his. It was Elita.

Her optics shone with concern and admiration. She squeezed his hand, as though wanting to imprint her presence forever in his spark.

"Be careful," she whispered, her voice steady but her plea unmistakable.

Orion held her gaze for an eternity, then for a blink, and finally offered a gentle smile. Without hesitation, he turned toward the light. After taking one step, he leaped, disappearing from Elita and Alpha's sight.

Orion opened his optics, a throbbing pain coursing through his circuits. His head felt heavy, as if his very spark was being shaped by forces beyond comprehension. Staggering, he rose, his visor adjusting to the surrounding penumbra.

The only light came from a colossal, pulsating spark at the chamber's center, beating rhythmically like the heart of creation. The air around it hummed with indescribable energy, ancient and sacred.

With careful steps, he approached, and there, before him, stood an imposing figure. Colossal, rivaling, or perhaps even surpassing, Alpha Trion in height. His golden-and-white armor shone as though forged from Primus's own light. His gaze was intense and penetrating, as if he peered straight into Orion's spark. The First Prime stood in solemn silence for an eternity. Then, in a voice resonant with wisdom, he spoke, "Do not repeat the mistakes I made. Do not forsake your brother, as I once forsook mine."

Those words struck Orion like a bolt of lightning. Before he could reply, Prima raised his arm, pointing toward the radiant spark at the center. "Good fortune, Prime."

Orion paused, the weight of those words pressing upon him. Summoning his resolve, he moved forward toward the light. With each step, shadows materialized around him, shapes coalescing into presence. His circuits quivered as he recognized them:

Solus Prime, Onyx Prime, Liege Maximo, Alchemist Prime, Micronus Prime, Zeta Prime. They watched Orion Pax's small figure with curious fascination. It was unheard of for a "normal" Cybertronian to ascend to the title of Prime and become one of their own. Even for them, it stirred emotions beyond description.

Liege Maximo opened his mouth, but Micronus Prime elbowed him sharply to preserve the moment.

The Core of Cybertron pulsed with transcendent light, its spark radiating overwhelming energy. From the core's center, a small golden object gently floated toward Orion, guided, it seemed, by destiny.

Orion's optics widened. He needed no confirmation; his spark recognized it before his mind could name it. The Matrix of Leadership.

Instinctively, he reached out. The moment his fingers touched the sacred artifact, a blaze of light erupted, enveloping him in indescribable energy that penetrated every fiber of his being and fused with his spark in a way words could not convey. The witnessing Primes did not retreat from the dazzling display of Energon. They watched with awe, deeply impressed.

Prima Prime offered a slight smile, pride shimmering in his optics. "Primus saw in you the nobility of a true leader. You may not understand now, but in time, you will know why you were chosen."

Solus Prime stepped forward, eager to witness the event. "Do your best! No matter how difficult the path, never give up."

Liege Maximo turned his face away, only mildly interested. "Just don't mess it up, newbie."

Onyx Prime nodded curtly. He didn't have a say in the matter and just wanted to return to his slumber. However, he feared Solus would disturb him for a hundred years, a skill she seemed to have perfected.

A profound vibration shook the planet's core as massive energies converged within, and now, within one being. "Rise, Optimus Prime."

A torrent of pure light exploded around Orion, unfolding like a newborn sun. His frame expanded into a new stately form, his armor resonating with the Matrix's power, shedding its fragile appearance.

Meanwhile, thousands of kilometers from Cybertron…

Deep in the void of space, Pulver completed the final calibrations of her ship's Quantum Distortion Suite. The control panels glowed ominously, preparing the ship for a journey across the cosmic threshold.

Suddenly, a bright flash shattered the corridor's gloom. The Star Saber glowed, radiating an imposing luminescence, as if awakening from a slumber that had lasted millennia.

Pulver turned, captivated by the blade's pulsing aura. Its grandeur was reflected in her optics, and time itself seemed to slow. The Saber's metal vibrated with primal authority, responding to the newly awakened power of the Matrix of Leadership.

A faint, rare smile curved her face; it was small, yet deeply meaningful.

"Well, then," Pulver murmured. "It's time to fulfill my part of the bargain."

At the Reach of the Galaxy…

On a dead planet, the earth shook. Mountains cracked, and ancient dust rose into the sky as a colossal metallic figure emerged. Standing over a hundred meters tall, the figure's body was a mosaic of imposing plates etched by eons. Rocks and sediments broke free as the figure ascended to its full height.

His luminous optics gazed into the infinite, piercing the star-strewn veil until they fixed upon a single point in the vast cosmos.

A deep, resonant voice rolled forth like thunder across the ruins, layered with echoes that only enhanced its gravitas:

"I sense the power of the Matrix of Leadership."

Thus spoke Nexus Prime, his gears whirring back to life after countless cycles of dormancy.

In a galaxy even more distant…

Upon a harsh, swamp-ridden world, where toxic bogs and grotesque creatures reigned, something stirred. From the depths of a fetid lake, a hideous worm of sludge writhed before undergoing an impossible metamorphosis.

His fetid flesh transformed into gleaming metal. His chaotic form reshaped itself into a Cybertronian figure, intricate gears clicking in precise, relentless motion as Amalgamous Prime was revealed.

His optics sparkled with a cunning light as he stretched, feeling the surge of a long-forgotten energy coursing through his spark. He laughed, a wild, exhilarating sound that echoed through the swamp, his limbs still shifting between forms, refusing to settle.

"Well, well, it seems we finally have a new player on the board."

He pirouetted in midair, morphing through multiple shapes in a fraction of a breath, before settling into one final form with a mischievous grin.

"Let the show begin."
