Chapter 20: CITADEL
Garden of Eden, Amazon Citadel.
'Shua'
Ariel Sebastian appeared in an ancient temple-like hall. She was expecting the hustle and bustle of a crowded city. Her expectations were denied. It was the opposite of what she was told. Instead, she arrived at what looked like a stone temple-like hall. It looks spooky, with a grand array supporting the exit portal to human Federation territories. A thick forest encircled the stone temple, which was decorated with statues of heroes. The smell of nature gave it a delightful smell. Looking deep ahead into the thick forest, a grand castle stood. It was a minute's walk from the stone entry temple.
The grand castle was the famous Citadel. They are safe zones in the Garden of Eden. Humans can go on with their businesses without worrying about being attacked. Although the biblical Garden of Eden described the Garden of Eden as an ancient tourist resort. This Garden of Eden for evolution was nothing close to such vivid biblical descriptions. The main theme of this Garden of Eden is the survival of the fittest and the elimination of the strong so that the weak will not have a place to stay. It was a place to forge fine blades. A fine blade must be forged through a fiery furnace to pass as quality work. For one to evolve, one must brave hardships, unthinkable horrors, and so on.
There are two types of citadels. The inhabited and habited citadels.
Those with first access to inhabited citadels may claim them. Protecting it will be their headache. The habited citadels require defeating their occupants to claim such safe zones.
Luckily, there are no habitable citadels in Evolvers' realm. If there were such habitable citadels. Human evolution would have been terribly slow.
Ariel Sebastian's curious eyes scan the whole environment deeply. Trying to figure out where she was? From various descriptions, she had read and heard.
She figured out that the environment was a typical Amazon setting. It is known for its dense canopies of vegetation that form three different layers of green grasses or herbs that are visible to the naked eye. The tall trees are of different calibers. Rich occasional springs, lake streams, and so on. Clear blue sky. This was a rainforest full of colour and life. The rainforest's beauty was gratifying; it was a warm and humid leafy paradise. This rainforest contained various spirit animals and spirit plants. This leafy paradise had a variety of smells; it had an earthy smell and had other scents because of the various flowers.
The trees were tall like skyscrapers, and spirit animal species could be seen leaping, swinging, soaring, etc. from branch to branch, making noises. A greenish light circulated through the trees, and water droplets could be seen falling off the large green leaves and ferns. Insects scurried under the pile of leaf litter. While the spirit crickets chirped, spirit frogs croaked, and spirit birds sang, some spirit beasts roared, and the waterfalls could be heard in the distance.
Ariel Sebastian realized she had reached one of the renowned five great citadels. Amazon Citadel, Savanna Citadel, Bear Wolf Citadel, Arizona Citadel, and Shepherds Citadel. They are unique in their own ways. The Amazon Citadel is famous for being home to different spirit species of beasts, insects, amphibians, and so on. A great and excellent environment for hunting. They got the highest turnout of spirit souls.
The Amazon Citadel was a few minutes' walk from the gateway portal.
Surprisingly, the gateway portal of the Amazon Citadel is not within the citadel. Just like other citadels. It is situated in a dense rainforest. To get to the citadel, Evolvers must battle with spirit beasts. Well, the human military doesn't care for such brave trials. They wiped out all the spirit beasts in the area. Making the area safe for new arrivals.
Ariel Sebastian arrived at a gigantic citadel. The citadel looked like an ancient castle. Is it only an ancient castle?... Hmm! Nay, one can describe this Amazon Citadel as an ancient fortress, a mini-city, and so on. The Citadel held no difficulties in housing over a hundred million humans. Rumors had circulated that the citadel interiors were designed with strange space laws. Space laws that can create pocket spaces. Such rumors are yet to be proven. But most humans believed such rumors.
Ariel Sebastian stepped through the gate. A bright light engulfed her. Ariel Sebastian vanished.
For every conquered or claimed citadel, every human who teleports to such a citadel will automatically be assigned to a room. Em! It's not free in so many places because the owner of the citadel makes ridiculous levies, laws, rules, and regulations.
The owners set management rights. They are to evict anyone from his or her room, reassign the current owners of any room to another room, set the costs of each room, and many more. Of course, all these can only be done with the power of the fist. Who will meekly pay up fines or obey laws while in the jungle? This is only possible with strength. Yeah! Strength supersedes everything. You have an enormous fist; you will have the loudest say in any citadel. Their words are absolute in their citadel. Most times, the rules and regulations set by citadel's owners are partly fair, especially for military-owned citadels like Amazon. Other times, it is ridiculous, just like a citadels owned by greedy business organizations.
Ariel Sebastian's luck is said to be at its finest. Not only did she appear at one of the famous citadels, but also at a military-owned citadel.
Shua!
Ariel Sebastian appeared in a very spacious room. She received a rare apartment. Oh! These apartments are called Eden's Abode. It is magical, unlike the futuristic design of the outside world. Ariel Sebastian's room was placed at the very top of the east wing of the citadel. This room should have been occupied, but it was surprisingly empty. Fret not; the previous owner just evolved to the upper realm, leaving the room owner less. Surprisingly, the military got their hands filled up to reassign empty rooms.
A brightly lit apartment with a balcony to view the whole environment. Exotic flowers are neatly arranged on the balcony. That should be the handiwork of the previous apartment owner. The apartment was filled with the scent of a beautiful flower bouquet. The fragrance gave the room an elegantly ravishing female touch. The bed was wide, enough to contain three humans. The work desk was also an excellent piece of art. Another corner was the exchange hub. The exchange hub has Nihility, which quickly transports objects in Eden's evolver realm. This is where humans got their inspiration and created Nihility space kits, which are being used in human territories today. Although human nihility has not perfected their space kits. It can still get some jobs done.
There was space for basic amenities like a kitchen and convenience room.
It was a well-kept, clean apartment, and Ariel Sebastian fell in love with the apartment at once.
Having satisfied her curiosity, Ariel Sebastian exited her room. She went through the flight of stairs and landed on the busy alleyway.
"I still have not had my fill of this magical realm. This is the climax of magical wonders."
'Huh!'
'I thought you were dead. You have been strangely and awfully quiet since I left for school.
["Whoa! Do you miss me already, sugar crush?"]
'Big dreams. Keep on dreaming. Why should I miss you?'
["Yup, you definitely miss me and it is a lot of misses."]
'Yuck'
'Gross and weird'
["If it is up to me. I really want to bisect every inch of this realm for studies."]
'Really, You are no longer weird but also mad'
'Why don't you go ahead?'
"Like seriously, you won't support me."
'Busted... I am what humans call a sane being. I thought you caught a trojan virus because your calculative abilities have been degraded. Turning to what humans called morons'
["Shit! Where do you learn so many foul words?"]
'From you, of course, my ultimate tutor.'
["Kid, refrain from emulating undesirable characters and actions. Regularly, learn the moral aspects of anyone."]
'KID?! Whatever, I have heard my almighty tutor,' Ariel Sebastian sarcastically commented.
["Why do your reply and facial expressions show sarcasm?"]
'Of course, you are being mocked'
["I have noted down this grievance. I will pay you with your own coins.]
'Whatever?!...'
["Whoa! These spirit souls are study materials. You got to purchase them."
'Are you high on substances? Do you think such spirit souls can be purchased with money?'
["You never can tell."]
'Em!'
'You are certain you can create stuff after gaining inspiration.'
["Definitely"]
'I will try to buy those spirit souls but don't get your hopes high'
Walking up to the trader, Ariel Sebastian initiated the transaction.
"What are the prices for this spirit soul?"
"89, 000 Eden's crystals," the trader calmly replies.
'Shit, what the hell is this price? Are these not rip-off prices? One Eden's crystal is exchanged for 10,000 Federation currency. So, 89, 000 of Eden's crystals will be... I better not think about it.'
"Do you accept Federation currency?"
"No, I only accept Eden's crystals, or you can barter with your dagger," replies the trader.
"Not a chance at all."
"You can get lost. If you don't wish to trade," the trader rudely remarked.
"What a temper?" Ariel Sebastian quietly left.
"My method did not work. Is she not new here? Newbies are supposed to panic. Strangely? I have seen the dagger. The dagger is mine," the trader snorted, calling his accomplices for discussion.
[A human has locked onto you.]
'V01D, you finally spoke... What?!... What do you mean locked onto?
