Chapter 10: anarchist
The school week was really weird. Everytime someone locked eyes with him they would go Ridgid or get angry. What the hell did he do?!?! And no one else seemed to notice the spirals, they noticed his hair and nails, but not his eyes, which was strange. It was like his eyes had some sort of power, whenever someone looked in his eyes they would get angry, irrational, and lose all sense, maybe say something they don't mean, oraybe do something they don't normally do, maybe just act out of character, it was like they lost all order. So, in order to avoid any kind of confrontation, he decided not to lock eyes with anyone, to just keep his head down and only raise his head when needed. But something strange happened whenever he retaliated to microaggresions, the black creeped further up his nails...so right now, he had all black nails, luckily it didn't spread to his skin yet, and now it just looked like he painted his nails black. But his nails also grew longer, now his nails looked like claws, about 3 cm (1.1 in), with sharp ends that seemed like they were for ripping hearts out, so they were pretty long.
Well, on the bright side, and to his pleasure, they were taking a break for the semester. It was about a 4 week break, so a month. So he would have to return to his original house, which could possibly kill him with the way mold was growing...well, he'd probably be out most of the day! He decided to not die, and was just going to spend the days doing little gigs for money, because he was actually broke, no money at all! And at this point he was just wondering if he should just kill himself, he had literally no money, no friends, no nothing! Not that friends really mattered, but friends had benefits, such as money, and...money!
He was thinking about this while packing his clothes (uniform, pajamas he got from the academy, and the clothes he came in.), just as he was about to close his travel trunk Dionysus knocked on the door
"Orion are you in there?"
Sunni was startled out of thought by the knocking.
"Come in!"
After he said that Dionysus came in immediately, seemingly wanting to speak about something important.
"Well, you know how we're going on a trip right?" "Obviously" Sunni said in his head, but instead of saying that he decided to politely say: "yes, I'm aware, what of it?" Dionysus was silent for a second, then quietly asked: "would you wanna spend the break with me and my family?" Sunni raised his eyebrows and almost said "what the hell" out loud, but he didn't. He stayed silent, just thinking, "why would he want me to go to his house?", meanwhile Dionysus' thought process was completely different. The reason he invited Sunni to his house was actually because he felt bad. He noticed how Sunni obviously came from a poor background. As he only wore what the academy gave him or only wore the clothes he came in with. He noticed the split ends in his hair the second he laid eyes on him, assuming he just didn't have the money to get a haircut (which he did not) he inferred that he was even poorer than he had originally thought. Dionysus on the other hand was a royal with a family who owned land, was influential, and was second to the king. He usually didn't do this, things like inviting others to stay with him, but he felt an obligation to do this for Sunni, he was his roommate, and he was pretty much the only person who really listened to his ramblings and idle-talk, he was the only one who actually listened! (He did not.)
After a while of contemplation Sunni answered, albeit a little unsure, "yeah I guess.."
The second sunni said that Dionysus' face lit up with a huge smile! He was gonna have someone to talk to (bother) other than his brother! He was finally gonna have a friend!
Later in the day after they had the conversation, at about 2:30 pm a golden carriage showed up, a golden carriage with white embroidery of a Phoenix, with two white stallions with black manes and soft fur leading it.
Dionysus got in the carriage and sat down, inviting Sunni to do the same. Sunni got into the carriage very gently, like he was scared of it. More specifically scared of damaging it. After they got in the carriage, on the way to Dionysus' home all he did was talk. Talk about how much Sunni was going to love his family, about how much he loved his family, about the weather, about the horses, and just about anything he could talk about, with Sunni only nodding his head and occasionally vocally agreeing to whatever he said. (He wasn't listening so he had absolutely no idea what he was agreeing to).
They eventually arrived at gates with guards guarding it attentively with iron armor and fancy spears that had gold tips with textured grips on them. As soon as the guards saw the carriage they opened the gates and allowed the carriage to pass by, bowing as it passed by, fainting murmuring "lord Zimmerman" while bowed at a 90° angle.
This was confusing! What the hell? Sunni knew that he was probably a noble, but to have a whole country? That's kind of insane...
Well, the thought that he befriended a noble was amazing. Think about the money! And the...money! And money! Sunni was ecstatic at this point! He was figuratively jumping for joy!
After that when they arrived at his mansion and got out the duchess came out, she was looking for Dionysus and the second she saw him her eyes lit up, and she almost ran to him and took him into her arms. But she saw that he had bought someone along and figured it impolite to do, no matter how much she missed her son. Sunni got out of the carriage and just looked around in disbelief. The home was huge! A Castle-like residence. This was the famous building they called the castle of glass! And no, they didn't call it the castle of glass because it was made out of glass. Calling it the castle of glass was actually and insult! They called it the castle of glass because apparently the familial bonds are so fragile and easy to break like glass..of course it was just a rumor, and only a few brave souls actually called it that. Wait a second...if this was the castle of glass, and he lived in it...was Dionysus the son of a duke?!?! This came as a shocker, because he wasn't noble, but he was Royal! So he didn't befriend a noble, but he befriended a royal! His eyes were protruding from his skull at this point! His luck has been terrible lately, but this little stoke of luck, this tiny little spark of friendship has him spending his break in the dukedom of Zimmerman! One of the most wealthy countries independent from the mainland, with signature features such as long hair for males which was uncommon. They also had the third strongest military forces! So, if he was really friends with Dionysus...did that mean that Dionysus could inherit the crown and give him a bunch of privileges?! (Dionysus cannot. He is not eligible to inherit the throne, and therefore will be forced to either be a military general, marry into a good family, or earn his own titles by denouncing his status as a royal)
After unpacking and getting into the guest room with the help of the servants that they had on break for the time being he was bored. Bored as hell. He had already gone over everything that had happened that week and he still couldn't figure anything out! He couldn't figure out why the black was creeping up his hands Everytime he did something bad...wait! Wait a minute! The black progressed further up his nails whenever he did something bad...so was the black in correlation to the pureness of his soul or something? Maybe it was something like that. Then he remembered the sentence from the book he had lying in his bed on the first day. "Going off the deep end is really common for all beatifics. Once it starts, you can't stop it." When they said going off the deep end what did they mean? Did they mean going crazy? If so why do they take this roundabout way to say it? Was going off the deep end really necessary to say all the time? Did it actually have some significance and reason it was called going off the deep end? Maybe it did..but also maybe it didn't. Maybe it was just roundabout for no reason. He couldn't see any clear reason as to why someone would have to say such a long sentence every time they wanted to say that a "beatific" was going crazy.
Speaking of which, he felt like his eyes had some sort of power..what was it? Every time someone looked him directly in the eyes they suddenly got agitated and sometimes even aggressive. What was the "chronology" they were talking about in the notebook he found when he first got here? It was...ah, it was "anarchist", strange name. Maybe it has some correlation to what his eyes did. Think about it! His eyes made people angry and aggressive. When your angry and aggressive you lose all reason. When you lose all reason you lose your principals. What is anarchy? It's just a way to say "you lose all reason, and have no governentation." In the dictionary it says verbatim "a state of disorder due to absence or nonrecognition of authority or other controlling systems." So, if his eyes really had the power to make people lose all reason and crash out, did this mean he was an.. anarchist..? Not the philosophy or political view anarchist, but someone who causes anarchy and manipulates situations and individuals to disregard all authority..?
