Chapter 6: Chapter 6
The trio continued their conversation for an hour, casually snacking and unwinding before the following day's training. The evening was filled with laughter and camaraderie, a brief respite before the hectic day ahead. Naruto had given them a task for the morning—a simple workout routine to kickstart their new path, including a kilometer run. While the workout itself wasn't anything extraordinary, it was clear that their bodies, not accustomed to regular exercise, would protest the effort.
Despite the inevitable aches and exhaustion, neither Sam nor Tucker complained. They understood that the goal was serious business, and a little pain was a small price to pay. The excitement of their newfound purpose outweighed any discomfort they might face. The atmosphere was light-hearted, but underneath it all was the knowledge that they were entering something larger than themselves.
After a brief goodbye kiss from Sam, Naruto headed back to his room, leaving Danny feeling conflicted. He sat down, his thoughts swirling in confusion. This demon had taken over his life, he thought bitterly. Now, his friends were also walking the same path, and Danny couldn't help but feel like they were all doomed. It wasn't just about the physical pain; it was about how the demon's influence stretched into every aspect of his life, leaving him helpless.
He thought about the way life felt when a friend got a bad grade—you feel a bit better, a little less alone in your misery. But when they succeeded and you failed, it felt like the world was losing its shine. The comparison wasn't lost on him. His suffering, his struggles, seemed so much more intense than anyone else's. More training, more suffering, and all the while, the demon directly controlling his every move.
Why me? Danny wondered. Why did I have to suffer more than them?
Naruto's voice cut through his spiraling thoughts. "You've rested enough. Stretch like this." The demon projected images in Danny's mind, showing him the exact movements. Reluctantly, Danny followed, his body protesting the effort as pain became the only driving force.
The next hour was filled with grueling exercises—20 push-ups, 20 sit-ups, 5 pull-ups, and 30-second planks. Every movement felt like torture, each repetition wearing down his resolve. By the end of the hour, Danny collapsed to the floor, his body a heavy weight that refused to move. His breathing was ragged, the exhaustion overwhelming.
I've never felt so tired, he thought bitterly. My body is killing me.
"Well done," Naruto's voice echoed, a hint of mockery in it. "Rest for now. I'll call on you in a few hours."
Danny, too exhausted to do much else, lay on the floor, staring up at the ceiling. His body ached in places he didn't even know existed, but he couldn't afford to rest for long. Two hours later, he was summoned again. This time, Naruto handed him a history book, marked up with notes. It was clear that Naruto had read through the book himself, writing down the most relevant information for Danny to absorb.
Danny groaned inwardly as he sat down to read. The text was dry and boring, and his mind kept drifting. He found himself shocked awake at least twice, his attention slipping as the hours dragged on. Damn you, demon, he cursed inwardly. He felt like his mind was being stretched too thin, forced to focus on something so dull when his body still screamed in exhaustion.
After two torturous hours of reading, Naruto dragged him into the next part of his training. "Now we'll fight—or more accurately, you'll get beaten for an hour so that you can grasp some skills from the experience," Naruto said nonchalantly, as if this was just another part of the routine.
Danny's heart sank. He knew this wasn't going to end well. His body was already exhausted, barely able to keep up with the earlier physical strain, and now he had to endure another round of punishment. He could feel the tension in his muscles as they tightened, ready for the inevitable.
Naruto's strikes were methodical but brutal. He wasn't trying to break Danny but was pushing him to the edge of his limits. Each blow, each move, taught him something new, but Danny's body could barely keep up with the slow pace. It was clear that Naruto was holding back, moving at a speed Danny could follow—but not fast enough for him to truly be able to counter any of it. It was like a cruel lesson, forcing him to learn by pain, by simply experiencing the consequences of failure.
An hour later, Danny found himself back in the library, unable to stand up properly. "Now live through the day again," Naruto instructed, his voice harsh. "Act like I did. There are two parts today: Pauline and Sam. Do your best, or you'll experience an extra tasty shock."
Danny groaned, the weight of the words sinking in. He wanted to cry, to release the tension building in his chest, but his body shuddered at the thought of what would happen if he did. No tears would come, only the harsh reminder that crying would bring even more punishment.
I can't escape this, Danny thought, as he braced himself for the next challenge. This path is mine now, whether I want it or not.
As the days stretched on, Danny found himself trapped in an unending cycle of repetition. Each day was a painful reminder of just how difficult it was to maintain the confidence and strength that Naruto expected of him. Even though he had witnessed Naruto's mastery firsthand, Danny struggled to replicate it in his own actions. The pressure was suffocating, and no matter how hard he tried, he could never meet the standards set for him.
The first part of the day with Pauline was a struggle. Her beauty, the crowd of onlookers, and the pressure of the situation overwhelmed him. He wanted to make a good impression, but instead, he froze, fumbling through the interaction. His words lacked conviction, and his movements were sluggish. The fear of making her angry paralyzed him. By the time it was over, he had failed miserably, and Naruto's wrath was swift. Danny screamed in pain as the consequences of his failure reverberated through his body, each shock a painful reminder of his inadequacy.
The next part with Sam was equally difficult. There was something strangely satisfying about the pain, a part of Danny that seemed to crave it after so many hours of torment. Perhaps it was the twisted sense of control it gave him, or maybe it was just the result of too much suffering. Either way, the pain seemed almost comforting now. He couldn't explain why, but there was a strange sense of relief when he allowed himself to sink deeper into it.
When it came to Dash, the bullying was relentless. The beatings, the mockery, they came without mercy. Danny didn't fight back this time. Instead, he embraced the punishment, letting the blows land without resistance. There was no point in resisting, no hope of escaping it. His body became an instrument for learning, or perhaps a vessel for all the frustrations and anger he had been bottling up.
Each part of the day took 10 to 20 minutes, and Danny relived them over and over again. The routine was merciless, a constant cycle of failure and pain. It seemed endless, stretching for hours until the last session had passed, and he was finally allowed to rest. His body was aching, every inch of him bruised and battered from the ordeal, but the respite was sweet.
Lying in bed, Danny's thoughts swirled in a haze of exhaustion and frustration. I will definitely become weird by the end of this month, he thought bitterly. This demon, what does he think I am? There's no way I can just do it.
The thought of his situation was overwhelming. He had no control, no say in what was happening to him. It was like being caught in a storm, unable to find shelter. The weight of it pressed down on him, and as he closed his eyes, the nightmares began.
His sleep was restless, filled with images of himself failing, being beaten, and unable to escape the never-ending cycle of punishment. Each time he woke, the feeling of dread would creep back in. He knew the next day would be worse—there was no escaping the path Naruto had set for him.
His body shook with the anticipation of another grueling day, and as he drifted into fitful sleep, he couldn't shake the feeling that he was being consumed by this endless, torturous path. The demon had his grip on him, and Danny had no idea how he could ever break free.
As Naruto moved through the house, his mind was far from the quiet task at hand. He was contemplating the path he had set for Danny and the potential consequences of his actions. Training the boy, pushing him to his limits, and molding him into someone capable of handling the challenges ahead, had been his sole focus. But now, doubts were creeping in. The road ahead for Danny was fraught with danger, both physical and psychological.
Naruto knew that using fear and punishment alone wouldn't create a true hero. It could, however, create resentment. The last thing he wanted was for Danny to turn against him once he grew stronger. The boy was just a teenager, still so young, and the idea of his own power turning against him lingered in the back of his mind like a dark shadow. He couldn't afford to alienate him completely, especially since Naruto's time with Danny was not permanent.
"You can't just break someone down and expect them to be loyal forever," Naruto muttered quietly, pausing in his tracks as he considered what to do. He wasn't stupid—he knew that Danny's resentment could build over time if he wasn't careful. So far, the boy had been obedient, but Naruto could see the cracks forming. He needed to soften his approach, offer some form of reward, or else risk everything falling apart.
A reward was necessary, but what could he offer? Danny's life was far from luxurious—his family was middle class, and the boy often had to make do with what he could afford. He didn't have the luxury of fancy gadgets or experiences. Even simple pleasures, like hanging out with friends or dating, were out of reach for him. Danny wasn't the popular kid, and he didn't have the cool factor that many others did.
Naruto's thoughts turned to Pauline, the beautiful Latina girl who had caught Danny's attention. He smirked, the idea forming in his mind. If I get him Pauline, he wouldn't complain so much.
She was attractive, certainly, but Naruto couldn't ignore her shallow personality. In his eyes, Pauline was like a decorative object—beautiful but empty, her value tied to her family's wealth and status. She wasn't the kind of person Naruto would ever be interested in, but to Danny, she represented something unattainable, a dream that was just within reach. If giving her to him made Danny feel better, perhaps that would ease some of the boy's frustration. Naruto didn't have a particular attachment to Pauline, and the boy was still so naïve that he likely wouldn't notice her flaws.
But... Naruto thought, pausing as he stood in the hallway. Is this the right approach?
The boy wasn't a fool. He'd figure out the truth about Pauline eventually, but for now, maybe it would help him get through the pressure of the training. Danny needed some kind of release from the weight Naruto had put on him—both physically and emotionally.
Naruto was known for his nurturing side, he knew that pushing Danny too hard without offering anything in return would be a mistake. He's just a kid.
Shaking his head, Naruto resumed his movements. There were more immediate concerns at hand. The team needed resources—money, equipment, connections. Without these things, their training and ambitions would be meaningless. Danny wasn't ready to take the lead on these matters yet, and Sam and Tucker still had a long way to go before they could contribute significantly in this area. It was up to Naruto to make things happen, and he knew that the sooner he could secure the resources they needed, the better.
With a sense of resolve, Naruto donned a mask and pulled on a hoodie, his movements becoming stealthy as he slipped out of the house. His powers, though weakened, still allowed him to sense evil—dark intentions, twisted desires. It didn't take long for him to locate the target. The city at night was full of shadows, and in those shadows, he could find what he needed.
Money and information were essential. He was prepared to get them by any means necessary. Tonight, he'd find what he was looking for, and in the process, he'd ensure Danny's future—whether the boy appreciated it or not.
Naruto's mind raced with possibilities, but for now, he pushed them aside. One thing at a time.
