The World of Naruto in the Eyes of Reincarnation

Chapter 74: Chapter 74

The three members of Team Eleven inside the cave didn't panic. Each of them pulled out their weapons and prepared for battle.

Yugito Nii's gaze swept over to Hyuga Kagami's face. Her brows furrowed slightly as if remembering something. "So it's you... Are you from the Hyuga clan?"

Clearly, she had recalled the time she encountered Hyuga Kagami during a mission to recover the Forbidden Scroll. It was the first mission she had failed, so the impression it left was a deep one. Now that Kagami wasn't wearing his dark goggles, she could identify him as a member of the Hyuga clan.

"A Byakugan and a Sharingan... no wonder you've been so difficult to deal with. Two visual dojutsu users," Yugito sneered. "Perfect. I'll settle old scores and new ones today!"

Hyuga Kagami ignored her and said calmly to Shisui, who stood beside him, "It's a Jinchuriki. That's unfortunate."

Shisui asked, "Should we begin, senpai?"

Kagami nodded.

Hearing their exchange, Yugito's face changed. "Get out! It's a trap!"

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Before she could finish her sentence, a chain of massive explosions thundered through the cave. The force was so great it was felt over ten miles away!

As the smoke settled, the massive form of the Two-Tails, Matatabi, appeared amidst the rubble. The Cloud ninja who had charged into the cave with Yugito had managed to survive by taking cover beneath the transformed tailed beast.

SWOOSH SWOOSH SWOOSH...

Figures descended outside the ruined cave. Leading them was none other than the Fourth Raikage of the Hidden Cloud.

He surveyed the battered Yugito and her team with a growl, "Where are the enemies?"

Coughing heavily, Yugito replied, "Cough... It was a trap. They must have escaped already."

The Raikage gazed into the distance. "It seems Konoha isn't as weak as we thought. Perhaps it's time to end this conflict."

Yugito hurriedly responded, "Please, Lord Raikage, give me more time. I swear I'll kill them!"

The Raikage shook his head. "We just received word from the front. The Third Hokage led a surprise attack on Killer Bee's unit yesterday. Killer Bee couldn't hold them off and is already retreating. Also, Iwagakure's movements are unclear. They could strike us at any moment."

Iwagakure, the ever-watchful opportunist, wasn't just eyeing Konoha. If the Hidden Cloud showed any weakness, they'd strike without hesitation.

Yugito froze. "Then... everything we did was for nothing?"

The Raikage placed a hand on her shoulder. "Don't be discouraged. There will be another chance."

Yugito clenched her fists, her face clouded with rage. "Damn you, Team Eleven from Konoha..."

---

On the eastern coastline of the Land of Hot Water...

Team Eleven was now racing along the coast, heading back toward Konoha.

Suddenly, Hyuga Kagami, in the lead, came to a stop.

The rest of the team halted as well. Shisui and Kakashi exchanged glances, disappointment showing on both their faces.

Shisui sighed. "To think it would end like this. What a shame."

Kakashi, looking slightly lethargic, questioned, "Isn't the Hidden Cloud's reaction a bit extreme? Just to deal with us, they sent a Jinchuriki? And wasn't the Two-Tails Jinchuriki part of their main assault force? Why would she suddenly appear in the Land of Hot Water? It's bizarre."

He didn't know that in his Tenseigan Chakra Mode, Hyuga Kagami had obliterated an entire valley and killed hundreds of Hidden Cloud shinobi. So their heightened response didn't make much sense to him.

Shisui glanced at Kagami cautiously and thought, "Against someone like Kagami-senpai, they had no chance unless they sent a Jinchuriki."

Kagami himself said nothing. His face was grim.

All those explosive tags, wasted. His mood was understandably sour.

After deciding to withdraw from the Land of Hot Water, Team Eleven had set a massive trap, intending to deliver a parting blow to the Hidden Cloud.

The three inside the cave had only been shadow clones of Kagami, Shisui, and Kakashi. Guy hadn't yet learned the Shadow Clone Technique, so he hadn't participated in that part of the trap.

They had hoped to lure in an elite squad of Jonin. At the very least, a Jonin-led recon unit.

Never did they expect to draw out a Jinchuriki like Yugito Nii.

Once a Jinchuriki uses Tailed Beast Mode, they become nearly invulnerable to conventional attacks. The cave collapse and explosions had minimal effect.

And Yugito, being a perfect Jinchuriki, could fully coordinate with Matatabi. A hastily set trap wouldn't be enough to bring her down.

After receiving the shadow clones' feedback, the real Team Eleven resumed their sprint toward Konoha.

With more and more Hidden Cloud forces pouring into the Land of Hot Water, the area had grown dangerously unstable. Though their last move had failed, Team Eleven had no choice but to retreat immediately.

Perhaps fearing collateral damage from the Konoha-Cloud conflict, rogue ninjas in the region had long fled. For days, Team Eleven raced along the coast and encountered no one but a few fishermen.

A week later, after circling around enemy positions, Team Eleven finally crossed back into the Land of Fire.

There, they quickly encountered a Konoha reconnaissance team. Through them, they learned of the latest developments.

Just as Hyuga Kagami remembered from his previous life, this Cloud strike was only a probing attack.

The trigger had been the unexpected deaths of the Fourth Hokage and the Nine-Tails Jinchuriki.

This conflict was nothing more than an aftershock of the Nine-Tails incident—the result of Orochimaru's betrayal and the death of the Fourth Hokage and his wife.

Neither Konoha nor the Hidden Cloud truly wanted an all-out war. After suffering setbacks, the Cloud quickly extended an offer to negotiate.

The Third Hokage accepted the proposal without hesitation.

At this point, he had no idea how much damage Team Eleven had inflicted behind enemy lines. But even if he had known, he still would have chosen peace. Konoha simply couldn't afford another full-scale shinobi war.

With the diplomatic channels now open, hostilities between the two villages effectively ceased. A few days ago, the last of the Hidden Cloud's assault forces withdrew from the Land of Fire.
