Chapter 12: puts you ahead of 80% of espers
After all the fuss, Anthony was finally taken for testing.
For the first time in his life, he underwent such a thorough examination—height, weight, lung capacity, strength, speed, jumping ability, cell activity...
After more than an hour of tests, they finally finished all the basic assessments.
Anthony was then taken to the ophthalmology room, where a pretty nurse's eyes lit up as soon as she saw Anthony's. She was even more enthusiastic than Iris had been.
This was a military camp within a danger zone.
The espers who came here were all seasoned veterans, usually at least twenty-five years old or older, weathered by battles, with a fierce look in their eyes.
But Anthony was completely different from those people. He was slender, with fair skin, and had a shy, introverted personality.
It was like a little lamb appearing in a pack of wolves—any woman who saw him would find it hard to resist taking a second look.
Seeing Anthony's information, the nurse became even more cheerful. "Wow, you're so young!"
Anthony: ...
Realizing she might have sounded a bit impolite, the nurse quickly corrected herself, "You're quite young, so I'll call you little brother Anthony. My name is Amy, and you can just call me Sister Amy. Since your ability is related to your eyes, we need to conduct some tests here to evaluate it."
Anthony nodded. After all the running around, they were finally getting down to business.
Then Anthony saw Amy take out a vision chart.
"This one?"
"Down."
"This one?"
"…Right."
"This one?"
"…Left."
Sitting there, Anthony was a bit puzzled. Is this how abilities are tested?
Realizing that Anthony's vision was unique, Amy also noticed that this method seemed a bit off, so she promptly changed the approach.
For ordinary people, vision is tested at a distance of five meters from the chart, but Anthony's vision far exceeded that of a normal person.
By continuously increasing the distance and reducing the font size, Amy finally determined the limits of Anthony's vision.
Anthony could clearly see letters as small as one centimeter from a distance of a hundred meters, and this was without even using his ability.
Next came the dynamic vision test, color differentiation test, heat sensing test, and detail perception test…
Compared to the other tests, the vision tests were much more varied and detailed.
After nearly an hour of testing, Anthony finally completed all the procedures, his eyes feeling a bit strained.
For some reason, he couldn't shake the feeling that the nurse conducting his tests wasn't very professional.
Sitting back in his original seat, Amy looked at Anthony and said, "Little brother Anthony, we've basically finished evaluating your vision ability. But every espers's ability has different focal points. Apart from super long-distance vision and dynamic perception, do you have any other functions?"
Even within the superhuman category of vision abilities, each person's talents varied—some could see further, some had infrared vision, and others could detect the strength of abilities, among other things.
Other functions?
Anthony suddenly remembered the blood-red skull he had seen on Irvin's head earlier.
It seemed his eyes had some sort of special capability.
Thinking of this, Anthony concentrated his ability on his eyes again.
As Anthony actively used his ability, Amy also activated her own espers power.
A special energy enveloped Anthony. Within her range, she could clearly sense Anthony's energy levels and the flow of his power.
This was the nature of her Espers ability: energy perception.
Under her perception, any energy within an espers's body couldn't escape her notice.
As Anthony had suspected, Amy wasn't an ophthalmologist—she was there on a special assignment given by her superiors.
In her perception, she noticed that Anthony's energy was depleting quickly, and the flow of energy was irregular and clumsy, indicating he was a complete novice.
At this moment, Anthony didn't notice anything unusual, but compared to his previous attempts, this time he was more focused.
As his ability intensified in his eyes, Anthony suddenly realized that the world around him had changed.
It was a very peculiar sensation. Everything before him was no longer just a flat image—it had become a three-dimensional space. As his gaze deepened, everything he saw appeared in a special form in his vision.
It was as if everything in front of him was being absorbed into a unique space, where he could see the length, width, and height of all objects, even the shapes of their hidden sides.
He could even delve deeper and see the internal structures.
Spatial penetration?
Anthony was stunned. This was the first time he had discovered such a capability.
Out of curiosity, he glanced at Amy, the nurse in front of him. If he could see through objects...
In the next moment, Anthony's body suddenly froze, and his blood pressure shot up.
Then, Anthony had a nosebleed.
Amy, who had been monitoring Anthony's energy activity, was startled when she saw him suddenly start bleeding and rushed over. "Little brother Anthony, what's wrong?"
"So big."
"Huh?"
"So white."
...
Half an hour later, after Amy had registered Anthony's ability information, the computer began evaluating his espers talent level.
The computer beeped for about ten seconds, and then the results appeared on the screen.
When Amy saw the information on the computer, she gasped and covered her mouth.
"What is it?" Anthony asked, confused.
"Your ability level is rated as C+!" Amy said in amazement.
Hearing this, Anthony scratched his head. "Is that really good?"
Seeing Anthony's bewildered expression, Amy wasn't surprised. She began explaining slowly, "I'm in a good mood today, so let me give you a quick lesson on the basics."
As she spoke, she pulled Anthony over to her seat. Anthony instinctively tried to pull away but quickly realized he couldn't, so he resigned himself to his fate.
Pointing at the information on the computer, Amy said, "Here's the basic information about your ability:
Name: Anthony
Ability Level: F
Talent Rating: C+
Espers Ability Type: Superhuman — Visual Powers
Classification of Ability Systems: Support Type
You should have heard about the different ability levels, right? They are divided into six grades: S, A, B, C, D, and E, with a significant gap in power between each level. So, when you're out and about, try not to provoke anyone who's a higher level than you.
Among these, C-level and A-level are two major thresholds. The specific reasons for this are something you'll gradually understand as you go.
Then there's the ability talent rating, which compares your ability level to others. This rating is also divided into six grades: S, A, B, C, D, and E.
Don't underestimate the C level just because it's the fourth tier; if we look at the distribution, your ability ranks quite high.
B level accounts for 13.74%, C level for 37.2%, D level for 47.2%, and E level for 1.4%.
As for those with S-level and A-level talent combined, they make up less than 1%. Those in that category are incredibly rare—sometimes years pass without one appearing. If one does emerge, the country will focus heavily on nurturing them.
Your ability's talent rating is C+, which puts you ahead of 80% of espers.
Moreover, your ability is quite rare. If it weren't for the high energy consumption and your lack of endurance, you might even reach B- or B level.
Now, let's talk about the classifications of abilities that we're typically familiar with: Superhuman, Beastial, Mysterious, and Elemental. The proportions of these four types are 84.37%, 12.33%, 2.42%, and 0.08%, respectively.
Interestingly, even though the Superhuman type is the most common, the Beastial type actually has the most detailed subcategories. The Superhuman type, on the other hand, tends to have more similar abilities. You can look up more information on this later.
Next, espers are categorized based on their talents, which determines their future development paths, such as combat, support, and auxiliary roles. Each of these categories has even more detailed sub-classifications…"
