Chapter 4: Held as a Grain of Sand in the Campbell Family.
In the same exquisite estate, a stylishly dressed woman is sitting by the window, her eyes focused on the white SUV whose door is being held open for the young miss that had arrived before, she watches while holding a flute of blue colored wine. She sips once and again, her eyes level with every movement being made downstairs as she watches.
The butler stands respectfully aside, "Madam, Here it is. See?" He spreads the sheet that he had ripped off the bed just moments before.
The middle aged woman's every move shows endless grace and wealth. She raises her eyes slowly and takes in the deep red blood stains on the white sheet.
She tuts and shakes her head in disappointment. "Her body is clean, but unfortunately she has lived and grown up with the Campbell family. Just that renders her quite unfit for him."
"Madam, what do you mean..." The butler starts but is cut off.
"Notify the Campbell family immediately and let the daughter of the Campbell's and the younger master get married." She states, waving her hand impassively.
The butler is taken aback but he clears his throat and speaks calmly, "All the interested media has been notified before now that the marriage is between the eldest, Susan and the eldest master, Eric. It has become the youngest master now?"
"Did the Campbell family run their unworthy mouths in front of the media. Telling them something that has to do with my family? Because, I, the madam of this family has never said anything related to that to any media. So, who did?"
So, Greta Campbell's daughter is also feeling worthy of marrying Eric? It is nothing more than a foolish woman's dream.
"Didn't their family want to marry into my family so bad? Of course I want to do it as well. Young master or eldest master, aren't they all the young masters of the Walters family? I did not change my words in any way. "
The woman takes a sip of her cocktail, squinting her eyes slightly and recalling about the mellow fragrance of the wine, and the show that is about to begin. "If they feel that the invitation is too steep and unworthy of them, tell them we will not be hurt if they say they are not interested anymore."
A mocking light flashes on the butler's face, and in the end, he has to be respectful, and her word is his command, "Yes Madam."
On the top floor of the tallest building in the estate, Eric stands with his hands behind his back and overlooks the crowd of women moving around and doing their daily chores.
The door is pushed open, and sunlight pours in, "Master Eric, Madam has changed her mind." The butler announces to him, bowing slightly.
Eric Walters doesn't move, "Huh? What changed?"
"It was agreed that the eldest daughter of the Campbell family, Susan will marry you, but the madam has changed the arrangement to your brother, Ethan. The marriage will now be between your brother and Susan Campbell."
Eric chuckles in knowledge, shaking his head at his mother's antics. "Oh no. It's not that she changed her mind, but she does not want the daughter of that family to marry me in the first place."
"Yes, then that family who has been relying on using the words of the old man who owed them a promise to force the two families to marry will be able to have no say, otherwise the Walters family will have a reputation for being unkind and unrighteous..."
Eric chuckles snidely, watching below.
"...Madam's move is really powerful. Anyway, the family has no choice but to agreed that letting their daughter marry the young master is also considered marrying into the family. "
"Guess I have to let go of my fantasies now. Let them go through the gate." Eric tidies up his cuffs as he stands up straight, preparing to go to work. The woman last night was good, but he is not her match after all. There is nothing he can do but follow his mother's choice.
"I looked into it sir. The woman last night is not the eldest daughter of the Campbell family."
Eric pauses, turning around, his normal poker face gone. "Who is she if she is not Susan Campbell?"
"She is Mina, the adopted daughter of the Campbell family. It must be that the second lady is the clean one and then Susan is not clean, so she asked the second lady to come in her place."
Eric gets a flashback into the night before where she had said that if she had any say in the situation, she would not have come.
So it had not been a lie then.
"I thought she was pretending to be pure, but she turned out to be a pretender. Interesting." The corners of Eric's mouth twitched upwards evilly.
Mina Campbell… free and unmarried.
I'll claim you when I find you.

As soon as Mina returned home, Greta Campbell greets her as soon as she walks in through the door.
"Mina, how did it go? Did you fulfill your obligation?"
Mina purses her lips and raised her head to look at the so-called mother in front of her, who would force her to do such a thing as last night. She knew. She had known that it was not just an ordinary checking but that it had been...
Mina eyes her coldly, "I call you mom, even though you're not my biological mother, I have always respected you, but can you really... no, that's not it. Why do you want this title so much? So much that you sent me to that place when you knew what they were going to do to me?"
"Mina, why will you talk to our mother in that manner? If the family had not chosen to adopt you, you would have starved to death on an unknown alley street years ago. After all, you are now the daughter of our family." Susan starts as she walks out of an adjacent room. "You want all the benefits of being a Campbell, but you don't want to suffer a little loss? Being able to be touched by someone from the Walters family is a blessing you worked for in your previous life. Be happy and thankful that you got such an opportunity." says Susan who trembles with rage as she talks to Mina like she is talking to a maid.
"Susan, you are the one engaged to the eldest son of the Walters. But you are not clean, and you are afraid that the family will find out and so you connive with mum to use me as a shield. Now you are saying such hurtful and demeaning things. Don't you have any conscience? Do you even know what I endured for you?"
"Who is unclean? To tell you the truth, do you know why I didn't want to go last night, why it had to be you? It's because I know that the people arranged by that family to check are not wealthy or young people at all, maybe someone like a gardener or mere cook, and it's not my wish, Mina, to be slept with by a gardener!"
Mina gasps but Susan is not done.
"For someone like you who has had a taste of the streets and poor life, I mean, you grew up living in murk and dirt, you should be grateful you got to be touched and disvirgined by someone who at least stays in that family. It's a thing you can probably boast of later. But me, the true daughter of this family? I am an elegant woman of class. It must not be heard that a stinking gardener is the one who takes my virginity!"
