The unrequited heart

Chapter 15: Chapter 15: The Ex-Girlfriend

The day of Jack's ex-girlfriend's arrival finally came, and I could feel my anxiety growing. What was she going to be like? What did she want from Jack?

As we waited for her to arrive, Jack and I sat on the couch, holding hands and trying to calm each other's nerves.

"Remember, no matter what happens, I love you," Jack said, looking into my eyes.

"I love you too," I replied, smiling.

Just then, the doorbell rang. Jack got up to answer it, and I followed close behind.

As we opened the door, I saw a beautiful woman standing in front of us. She had long, curly brown hair and piercing green eyes. She was dressed in a stylish outfit, and she looked confident and self-assured.

"Hey, Jack," she said, smiling. "It's been a while."

Jack nodded, looking a bit uncomfortable. "Hey, Rachel. Come on in."

As Rachel walked into the apartment, I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. There was something about her that didn't seem right.

"So, Rachel, what brings you here?" Jack asked, trying to sound casual.

Rachel smiled, looking at me with a hint of curiosity. "I just wanted to see how you're doing, Jack. And I have to say, I'm a bit surprised. I didn't know you were seeing someone."

Jack nodded, putting his arm around me. "This is Sophia, my girlfriend. We've been dating for a few months now."

Rachel's eyes narrowed slightly as she looked at me. "Nice to meet you, Sophia," she said, her voice dripping with sarcasm.

I smiled, trying to stay calm. "Nice to meet you too, Rachel."

As we stood there, awkwardly, Jack suggested that we all sit down and talk. Rachel agreed, and we sat down in the living room.

As we talked, I couldn't help but feel like Rachel was trying to manipulate Jack. She was playing on his guilt and sympathy, trying to get him to do what she wanted.

But Jack seemed oblivious to her tactics. He was too caught up in his own feelings of guilt and responsibility.

As the conversation went on, I found myself getting more and more frustrated. Why couldn't Jack see what was going on? Why couldn't he see that Rachel was just trying to use him?

But as I looked at Jack, I saw the confusion and uncertainty in his eyes. He was torn between his feelings for me and his sense of responsibility towards Rachel.

And in that moment, I knew that I had to do something. I had to make Jack see the truth, and I had to make him realize that he deserved better than someone like Rachel.

But as I opened my mouth to speak, Rachel beat me to it. "Jack, can I talk to you for a minute?" she asked, her voice sweet and innocent.

Jack nodded, getting up and following Rachel into the other room.

As they left, I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. What was Rachel going to say to Jack? And how was he going to react?

I sat there, waiting anxiously for them to return. And as the minutes ticked by, I couldn't help but wonder what the future held.

Would Jack and I be able to overcome the challenges that lay ahead? Or would Rachel's arrival mark the beginning of the end for us?

As I sat there, lost in thought, I heard the sound of footsteps coming from the other room. Jack and Rachel were returning, and I had a feeling that everything was about to change.
