Chapter 94: Chapter 94: You Are Who You Are
Although it was called breakfast, it was already ten in the morning.
By the time Yoru and Irisviel arrived at the sitting room, Jubstacheit had already been waiting for quite a while.
After briefly observing Irisviel's condition, Jubstacheit gave a satisfied nod.
Once he confirmed that Irisviel was no longer a virgin, he finally let out a long sigh of relief. Yoru had accepted Irisviel—this meant he was now willing to fully integrate into the Einzbern family.
Of course, to completely bind Yoru to the Einzbern cause, more would be needed. But there was no rush. After all, there were still ten full years before the Holy Grail War began—plenty of time to prepare.
"Because of the unusual circumstances, we didn't hold a formal banquet. And the Einzberns don't exactly have any friends or relatives worth inviting, so your wedding with Irisviel may have felt a little rushed," Jubstacheit said with a slight cough.
Yoru simply shook his head, unconcerned.
"All I care about is Irisviel herself. I'm not interested in formalities like wedding ceremonies."
"Good, good… Hearing that, I feel much more at ease entrusting my granddaughter to you."
Looking very pleased, Jubstacheit handed two documents over from the table.
"These are your marriage certificate and the identification I had prepared for you. From today onward, you are an official member of the Einzbern family!"
Yoru nodded lightly and accepted the documents. Beside him, Irisviel beamed with joy as she tucked the little red booklet—their marriage certificate—close to her heart.
"You and Irisviel are now legally husband and wife. I hope you won't disappoint her."
"Don't worry. I'll never let Irisviel down," Yoru said, each word firm and resolute.
Satisfied, Jubstacheit nodded.
"In that case, I'll leave you two lovebirds alone."
With that, he stood up and exited the room, leaving Yoru and Irisviel together.
"You probably don't know much about this world yet, do you, dear husband? Would you like me to explain some things?" Irisviel offered.
"Yes, I'd appreciate that, Iris."
Yoru gave a gentle nod. Since he'd be participating in the Holy Grail War, it was only natural that he understand the structure of this world's magical system—and what kinds of enemies he might face.
As Irisviel began her explanation, Yoru finally understood the distinction Jubstacheit had been making all along between magi and true mages.
He had always thought "magus" and "mage" were just two words for the same thing. But in this world, they meant entirely different things.
A magus wielded powers that could, in theory, be replicated by science—things like fire, lightning, and ice. Because such powers were theoretically achievable through technology, they were considered magecraft, not magic.
True magic, on the other hand, referred to phenomena that modern science couldn't explain at all.
And true mages? They were now exceedingly rare. Most had already been "demoted" to magi.
"Technology really has become something formidable," Yoru remarked.
"Exactly. There are just so many things in this world now that can easily kill a magus. Take guns, for example. You might be able to block a bullet with an ice shield, and someone else might melt them with fire. It looks like an easy defense—but you're spending mana, while your opponent just pulls a trigger."
Irisviel spoke with a worried expression.
"That's why you have to be careful from now on, Yoru. Especially with snipers hiding in the shadows. High-caliber rounds with incredible speed… they're so dangerous. And then there are explosives, rocket launchers, and all sorts of terrifying modern weapons."
She listed them one by one—not as exaggeration, but from real fear.
Because in the world of magi, there really was someone who used such methods: Kiritsugu Emiya.
The infamous Mage Killer, willing to use any means necessary to destroy his enemies. And it was exactly because of him that Irisviel was so worried.
Given his apparent obsession with the Holy Grail, there was a very real chance that Kiritsugu would become Yoru's enemy in the future.
"Don't worry. I'll be careful."
Yoru patted Irisviel's head gently, smiling reassuringly.
Those weapons might be powerful—but to Yoru, they still paled in comparison. No matter how strong they were, none could rival the force of a level 6 adventurer's full-power strike.
He had once blocked Ais's full-force attack, even withstood a combined assault from two level 6 adventurers of the Loki Familia. His ice wasn't some fragile barrier—at the very least, a sniper rifle wouldn't break through it.
"Iris, do you want to go out for a walk?"
After chatting for a while, Yoru suddenly asked, catching Irisviel off guard.
"G-go out?"
"Yes. We're married now, right? Isn't it normal to go on a honeymoon?"
"Honeymoon…"
Irisviel echoed the word softly, then her face fell into a bittersweet expression.
She did want to go on a honeymoon with Yoru. But she knew—Jubstacheit would never allow it. She was the Lesser Grail's vessel. Until the Grail War began, she wouldn't be allowed to move freely.
Yoru didn't know that yet…
If he found out that she was nothing more than an artificial human—a container—would he start to hate her?
"Yoru, there's something I need to tell you," she said, her voice quiet and filled with uncertainty.
"What is it?"
"If… if I told you I'm not a normal human being… would you come to hate me?"
"Why would you say something like that, Iris? Haven't you already accepted me as your husband?" Yoru chuckled gently, throwing back the very words she had once used to tease him.
"No matter what you are—an angel or even a demon—as long as you remember that you are Irisviel, my wife, that's all that matters."
As he spoke, he pulled Irisviel's soft body into his arms, burying his face in her moonlight-colored hair, breathing in her unique fragrance.
"…Mmh."
With a gentle, blissful sound, Irisviel closed her eyes.
So warm… If this is a dream, please… don't ever let me wake up.
